Hearty breakfasts abound at Sykes! Super friendly shop with a small market attached with souvenirs and huckleberry type things that's worth a browse. The dining area is fairly large and comfortable. Feels very old school but also happened to have someone playing the piano with some classic western ish vibes if you know what I mean that really gave this more charm. Food is very generous and definitely recommend splitting the prospectors breakfast. Chicken fried steak, a monster biscuit, hash browns and two eggs with gravy is a lot to take down. Even if you were to do a long after, not sure you can burn off this many calories. Chicken fried steak is good - thin and crisp but with a breadcrumb like crust instead of the floured stuff I'm used to getting down south. Sausage gravy is flavorful and a classic pairing but you can also opt for brown gravy instead. The biscuit is moist and a good utensil to soak up the gravy. Eggs and hash browns needed seasoning - there's no salt on it so add it yourself but the griddled crisp on the hash browns were good. We went for breakfast and had to wait as expected. However, the wait was reasonable given that it was almost 10 am and this is a popular spot. We wandered around the store and deli while we waited. The deli was serving coffee and sandwiches so we could have had coffee while we waited which was a nice option. We ordered our meals: Miss Piggy's Revenge which was a pulled pork omelette and a Popeye omelette with, what else but spinach and feta cheese. The meals were large and my biscuit was humongous! I got hash browns and, while they were the standard shredded potatoes, they seemed to have more flavor than usual. My bellwether for drinks is iced tea and theirs passed the test: it was freshly brewed and not brewed through the coffee machine. Definitely worth another visit! As the other reviews mention, the portions are huge at Sykes. I had the Big Sky skillet special, which had chicken fried steak, hash browns, cheese, sausage gravy and eggs. Only reason this place gets 2 stars and not 1 is because of the cool store attached to it. Food was NOT GOOD! My sausage was incredibly overcooked and hard, my mom's eggs were almost raw, our potatoes were very raw, and the biscuit is grotesquely large and not well cooked in the center. My mom also received one good piece of bacon and one very burnt piece of bacon. Such a disappointment considering the place seems like it would serve a wonderful breakfast and the workers were friendly! read more

The waitress Kayla) was friendly and took our order in the small written script I have seen. She was also efficient. The interior is open but has the diner feel. The food was good. I liked the hollandaise sauce and would try the eggs Benedict in the future. My hashborwns were crunch and the gluten free toast was decent. My dad enjoyed his burger. The portion size is good, I don't think you will leave hungry. The one thing to call out is the 4% credit card fee (will be removed if you use cash). It isn't posted and we didn't see it on the bill it was added in assuming a credit card would be used. read more

We ordered a variety of food. Pancakes, omelette, and corned beef hash. Was super busy, had about a 20 min wait on a Tuesday which was interesting but overall the food was great, coffee was ok but the waitress and staff were awesome. They have a piano in their cafe which had a wonderful young lady playing it and a tip jar supporting local veterans. Can't go wrong when supporting veterans and first responders. Will be back again. Great job and keep up the great work. Update: Went back again today with my cousin, had another great waitress take care of us. My cousin had an omelette with a biscuit which he loved and I had the Reuben sammich which was utterly phenomenal. We Loved it. Also manager gave me a sticker which I will happily put on my gun case. What a fun local place to eat! We are out of town visitors who enjoyed looking around the shop while we waited just a few minutes to be seated for breakfast. Best price I've seen for a souvenir coffee mug !!! Just $8 and it comes in many colors. All four of us loved our meals- they were large and filling. The omelets and hash browns were delicious. It's obvious that the locals love eating here and we like to find places like this when traveling. Make a point to come here!! A homey feeling diner that is tucked on the side of a grocery store and pharmacy. There seem to be a lot of locals that stop in that are frequent patrons. The portions are quite large and you will definitely be full and have leftovers. We got the hearty breakfast with a side of pancakes and the special that morning; an egg scramble. The bacon was thick and not too soggy or too crispy, and the scramble was hearty with sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, and a side of hashbrowns. Most of the time the food is great. The gravy with the biscuits and gravy doesn't usually have all that much flavor, but I usually get it anyway. We also tend to get the club sandwich , the French toast, the breakfast burrito, salads, all good. Good homemade bleu cheese dressing as well! The service is generally pretty dull & it can be hard to get someone's attention (busy or not). Like the vibe there though. If we could afford to go more often, we absolutely would. Oh! My parents moved to Montana years ago and we typically visit Sykes for a meal when we visit. The first time we visited was probably 8+ years ago before the apartments were even built on top (of memory serves right). It hasn't changed much in the last few years which I appreciate - it's a quaint diner specializing in breakfast and some lunch items. This time we went for lunch, and my husband got the pot roast dip and I got the hot honey chicken sandwich with a side of the special soup - black bean chorizo. The sandwich was huge! Chicken was a little crispy but the flavor was there, and the soup was tasty too. My parents got breakfast items with a side of onion rings - the onion rings were definitely overdone but would've been tasty. Came by for breakfast. I walked inside and was told I could sit at the counter or pick a table at the end. It was just me so I sat down at the counter. Wanted to order the daily special - huckleberry French toast. Tried to order from the person that brought me a glass of water. She said she couldn't take my order but my server would be here soon. Sykes's is solid. Been here 2x for a late breakfast and both times was statisfying! The service is fast and helpful. The wait can be annoying, but if you go at the right time, all is well! Big fan of the store and coffee shop inside, if there is a longer wait. The atmosphere is a bit loud, but my 8 month old baby slept through it! They have a great menu, so come hungry.
