But the results were abysmal at best. What she needed was someone to teach her the Common Core Math, that me or my wife could not teach since we both grew up on Classical Mathematics. It was a frustrating experience for us and our daughter. So if, as a parent you struggle to teach your kids your way of Math. You're not alone! Common Core Math is quite different and can lead to lower scores for your kids especially when written formulas are required in the tests. Quality is never cheap! The kids love how she explains math so clearly. They just get it when she teaches them. And they really get it because she's asking them questions during the session to check their understanding. Confidence and grades have soared! My 7 year old tutors with Laura because he wants to increase his math skills. I especially love that she doesn't limit what he can learn at his age. He's learned his multiplication and division tables, rounding to the 10,000's, perimeter, area and today he learned fractions. It's only been 8 weeks. We signed up for another 8 weeks. I looked up many tutoring centers in the area and decided on CEC. I signed her up for AST twice a week. Within two weeks she was starting to get it and even got an 85% on her math test - which before she averaged 70%. She had so much more confidence with math and the staff, especially Mr. Brian worked around her busy schedule. Best decision ever. Our two sons used Blue Train for multiple things over their junior and senior years - test assessment/diagnostic, ACT prep and guidance, college list building, guidance re HS classes and even extra curricular advise, as well as navigating the college application process and the all-important essay drafting. Scott and the people at Blue Train put the boys on a very manageable schedule and in fact, both of our sons were totally done with most applications by Thanksgiving. Both boys got into tons of schools, got thrown tons of money, and this entire process was so smooth because of Blue Train's guidance. Due to the pandemic, he did not attend preschool. And while he is very smart, he had problems adjusting to being in kindergarten, surrounded by strangers. We felt the school wasn't doing enough to help him with his separation anxiety so we took matters into our own hands. I reached out to 3 tutoring companies and Eggheads Learning Academy stood out. I approached each with the same concerns: 1. We need help pencil control and phonics 2. We need help helping him The other companies just wanted to focus on the academics. But Alenni was interested in my nephew as a person. Her 'mom' personality immediately leapt forward and we conversed that day about helping his whole being. Through multiple calls, texts and emails, she said she found the best match for him. And she was so right! In just 3 weeks, Lauren has helped him find his voice. He's interacting with his teacher and classmates in ways he never did before Miss Lauren came into his life. Lauren has also helped my niece to see her son is normal for his age and to celebrate the progress he has made in this short time of tutoring. Each small step has brought us to this point, 3 weeks later, where he actually told Miss Lauren, "Goodbye. I'll see you Tuesday." Alenni was referred to us and we immediately felt she was the best fit. Our son was engaged during sessions and gaining skills. Alenni is kind and calm and has a way of explaining things that make sense. It's a personalized experience too - not a "one size fits all" program like some of the bigger corporate programs. We are so pleased we decided to continue with Alenni through the school year and beyond. It is so nice not arguing over homework or getting frustrated because I can't explain things in a way that make sense to him (Common Core is tough for me).
