Coach B is truly gifted! Our family has done two other 10 Day swim intensives with other people/companies for our older two children in the past. I was very hesitant to try again with our 4 year old that didn't have any interest in learning to swim, was timid of the water and refused to go beyond the first step in the pool. Coach B was recommended to us and I am so glad that I took a chance and signed up all 3 of my kids! He's gentle yet firm, builds trust while encouraging kids to push past their comfort zones, and strikes the perfect balance between patience and challenge. My 4-year-old cried on the first day, cried a little less on the second, and was still a bit whiny on the third. But even then, I could tell he trusted Coach B. By day four, he was walking into the pool with a smile, excited to swim! By the end of the 10 days, my once timid little guy was confidently swimming and genuinely excited to be in the water. My 6-year-old already knew the basics but lacked confidence and endurance. Coach B improved his stroke technique, kicking, and taught him to roll onto his back to rest before flipping over to continue swimming. Before the program, he would quickly resort to doggy paddling. By the end, he was confidently swimming the full length of the pool with proper technique. My 9-year-old was already comfortable swimming and floating on her back, so Coach B focused on refining her breathing, stroke mechanics, and overall efficiency. She finished the program noticeably stronger and more confident in the water. All three of our children finished these 10 days as stronger, more capable, and more confident swimmers. I jokingly say that Coach B can "swim circles" around all other swim instructors. Like many others, my 3.5 year old son has taken months worth of swim lessons from other instructors and yet, he still couldn't swim on his own. I was referred to Swordfish by a client of mine that told me this instructor had his son swimming at 2 years old and offered a guarantee that if your kid isn't swimming in 9 days, you get your money back. Oh.. and the lessons are 5-10 mins each... I knew right away that I found my guy! The first couple of days my little guy was crying and screaming, but after that he learned to relax more and more and trust Coach B... my little guy was legitimately swimming in 3-4 days and I could not believe it. The last day (day 9), I got to swim with my little guy and got instruction from Coach B on how to continue the training, so we'll be prepped just in time for summer. I would give this 10 stars if I could as I have been giving all my friends with kids the same age his number and hope they have the same results. My recommendation to people is to not give up the first couple of days, no matter how hard your kid kicks and screams, and to trust the process. To me, the peace of mine of not worrying about drowning far outweighs the two days (ten minutes total) of initial lessons and I feel like this is probably harder for the parents than the kids. Coach B is UNBELIEVABLE. I am beyond shocked my 2.5 year old learned the skills he has in 9 days. I was very skeptical as 9 days seems so short compared to other swim schools that go on for months (maybe that's a clue to their methods ) , but my son is practically swimming by day 7. Coach B is a patient, persistent and experienced swim instructor. Over the course of the 9 days of one in one lessons our 5 year old became a solidly sufficient swimmer after starting with a weak doggy paddle. Our 2 year old learned basic technique and pool skill basics after starting with constant crying. He went from crying and whining the first 3 lessons to asking for more the final few lessons. Highly highly recommend Coach B!! He's the swim whisper!!! He taught all 3 of my children to swim. My youngest (5) did lessons with coach B at 3 years old but regressed because we don't have a pool that he can practice in. I signed him up again this year (he's now 5) and he would barely put his face in the water and screamed/freaked out the entire lesson on day 1. On day 9 he was jumping in and swimming to me voluntarily. My older son learned to swim with coach B at 7 and I can't get him out of the water... I've had lessons from Coach B for 2 seasons now and I have been shocked both times by the progress my kids made in such a short time frame! Coach B has a very calm but assertive demeanor that kids respect. He has a lot of experience coaching kids how to swim and is able to help them at all levels make so much progress on a daily basis. Having it 10 consecutive days seems like a lot but the progress the kids make in the time frame is worth the hassle and is ultimately so much more efficient. You can have peace of mind of your child's water safety in just 10 days! First season, my 5yo son was afraid of the water. Screamed and cried every single traditional swim lesson and made minimal progress. He relied on floaties and It was a hazard for him not to have them. Within 3 sessions with Coach B, I saw my son swim across the pool. By the end of it, when pushed into the water, he was able to swim to the edge making him water safe! Fast forward one year later, at the beginning of summer, my 6yo son could swim but would plug his nose and didn't know how to use his arms to stroke. Within 2 sessions with Coach B, my son was swimming using his arms. And by the 6th session, my son was swimming on his back, learning how to transition from head down to kicking on his back and then back to head down. Progress was unbelievable! I've had my younger daughter take lessons from Coach B as well. Within the first few sessions of the first year, our 2yo daughter was comfortable holding her breath under water and learned how to kick. By the end of the first season, we dropped her into the pool and she was able to turn around and grab the wall. Fast forward a year later, our 3yo daughter was capable of swimming short distances but we still had concerns of her falling into the pool and being disoriented and not able to swim to the wall. By the last session, she had a much stronger kick, able to use her arms and was able to jump into the pool on her own and swim to the wall. Progress was incredible! I honestly can't speak highly enough of Brendan and his daughter who helped teach our daughter to swim. My daughter was only 25 months when she started his class. Within 4 days she was starting to swim a few feet and by day 9 she could easily swim 10 feet! He was always calm with her (not easy with a crying two year old) and my daughter always looked to him as the leader in the water and fully trusted him. When selecting a swim school for our children it was imperative that the Coach was structured, implemented safety and that our kids were swimming at the completion of the course! However it was also important our kids trusted, responded well, had fun and looked forward to going to class without being scared or "turned off" from the experience. My 3 year old daughter started lessons not knowing how to swim and had no prior lessons. Now she can hold her breath and swim half way across the pool. The evening after her 5th day of lessons she fell into the deep end of the pool fully dressed while being chased by an older cousin (not when Coach B was there and after lessons). Coach B was referred to us by a friend of ours after the incredible results their 3 kids had. We simply could not be more happy and impressed with the job Coach B and his daughter Mary did. On the first day we last minute had an issue with our pool cover not opening. Coach B and Mary were completely understanding and graciously accommodated us needing to move the lesson to another pool. They both have a calmness and demeanor, that I can tell is exactly what you need as a swim instructor. He had our daughter, who just turned two, swimming almost the entire width of our pool by day 7.
