Rip up a bunch of tile, install…read morenew subfloor to match level of some existing hardwood floors, stitch in new wood where tile used to be, sand and restain everything. They gave a good estimate, I paid 1/2 and they started on time. Flooring looked great and workmanship was pretty good, but there was a ton of stain overlap onto painted surfaces. I called and asked them to fix it. They never came. two months later, they asked me to pay the rest of the invoice, and I told them I would - when they finished the job and painted over all the overstain, Then: radio silence. Three months later they asked me AGAIN to pay the rest of the invoice, and I told them AGAIN that I would pay when they finished the job. They sent a guy out who painted over all the overstain and then I paid. Took them 6 months, but it finally happened. While all this was happening, I asked for them to gimme an estimate on refurbing my bathroom. Mark came and took a lot of measurements, then I never heard from him again. So ..... pretty good job overall, but management and follow-thru is a bit lacking....

Without warning, and waiting until I called them at the last minute, they informed us the carpet would be late arriving so they couldn't install as promised. This caused us to have to reschedule the other contractors who had work, depending on the carpeting, to finish before we could move in. Realizing they had screwed up, they did provide a $1,000 pad upgrade to make up for it. I appreciate that, but it still didn't entirely make up for delaying our move in. This caused us to not only move in a week later, but also with some work incomplete. Once the carpet arrived, their installers did an excellent job of putting it in. So, if you don't mind Carpet Gallery's lackadaisical attitude toward meeting their committed schedule, or their scheduler who really didn't seem to care whether or not they were late, you still might like dealing with them.

It's now June so I've had time to settle in with my carpet and wanted to provide a review of the experience. I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. I am writing this review so that no one else has the unfortunate experience we have had at…read moreRichmond's Flooring RVA. After more than two years we are left with a poor flooring installation, no concrete plan to remedy the situation, and very little communication from the company's owner and president despite our many attempts to call, email, or visit him in the store. (Important update: I originally posted this review in July at which point the owner called me and promised to take care of the situation. After a few texts from him, he is once again ignoring our calls. He promised to get back to us no later than today, Friday, October 16, but it is 9:00 pm and we have heard nothing from him.) In the spring of 2024, we had Flooring RVA install wood flooring throughout our home. Even on the first day of installation, we noticed uneven boards and brought it to the attention of the installers; however, they did not address our concerns and there was no one on site to oversee them. As a result, the installation continued with many uneven boards plus some damage to our drywall, a broken outlet cover, and a poorly-done transition to one of our bathrooms. We did not have the "detailed walkthrough" referenced on the store's website at the conclusion of our installation, and the only communication we had from the store manager was a request for us to pay our remaining balance. Over the next few months we tried repeatedly to have our concerns addressed,, finally coming into the store to speak with the manager directly. After our visit, he did send an inspector out to document our concerns. The inspector took many pictures and new flooring was ordered. An installer arrived but did not feel comfortable installing the new flooring because he felt that the problem was with the wood itself. We were not comfortable paying the remaining balance of our job, but we were told that in order to submit the manufacturing warranty, we would need to do so, which we did. The warranty claim was submitted in late March 2025. Many months passed with no communication from the manufacturer nor from Flooring RVA, so again we reached out. Finally, a year later after many calls on our part, the inspector from the manufacturer and the original inspector from Flooring RVA came out. We were told that we would hear something within 40 days. It has now been over three months since that inspection and again, we have not heard anything. We have been told that the owner of the business is in charge of our situation, but throughout this entire process he has not answered emails or returned our calls. I will say that any time I have called the employees working on the floor have been friendly and as helpful as they can be, given that they do not have the authority to resolve this situation. For over two years, we have tried to work with this company without success and not until now, are we posting a negative review. We do so in order to prevent others from having our experience.
