Big fan of this spot! For their quality Decaf Vanilla Oatmilk Latte, flavorful Avocado Toast (get it with bacon) & friendly staff. Arrived around 10:30am & left around 12:30pm on a Thursday - stopped in for 2 hours in between appointments to get some work & reading done. Was pretty full when I arrived, but still found a spot to sit, as they have a decent amount of seating. Was pretty empty by time I left. Noise level was perfect despite the crowd & bathrooms were even nice! If I'm being picky, the Avocado Toast was a little pricey - very tasty but pricey imo! Would go back :) read more

My son and I stopped in Switchback Coffee Roasters for coffee and a pastry to share before a very big day. Move in day in his new town. I flew in to help him manage his movers and unpack every last box before we went to sleep that night. Switchback provided the perfect fix to fuel us through hours of unpacking and organizing his cross country move. When I thanked his movers before they left they in fact told me verbatim "thank you, you did all the work" and that I did! It's probably my Type A OCD behavior but I could not have him conduct his very first home to home move without me present or this place may not have been unpacked for months! I had every last thing where it needed to be, dinner and dessert made before my head hit the pillow that evening and that's because we started our day with the best coffees and scone. I was only in town for a couple of days and in that short time Switchback was surely one of my fav coffee spots. Hoping to stop in again soon. Service was great and the space has a very calm and welcoming vibe. My sons girlfriend is flying into town this week and I surely hope he brings her here. Exceptional spot. read more

We popped into this little cafe on our way out of town, and we were very pleased with everything. Service was very friendly, and without sounding too off the wall, provided a genuine human connection as we were being served. Truly lovely. We got a couple of drinks to go, a cortado and a latte, and both were sublime. We got a chocolate chip scone and a chocolate croissant, and let me tell you, the lamination on this pastry was exceptional. My husband about lost his mind for the texture and flavor of the scone. They have two locations for Switchback Roasters in Colorado Springs. They're a local coffee company as well. I tried stopping by and hanging out here a month ago but they were closing. Also, they close at 3:00 pm on every day of the week, including weekends, so plan your visit accordingly. This coffee shop has a mellow vibe to it. I love the location. It's another one of those off the beaten path locations which I'm a huge fan of. It's located in a residential neighborhood. The interior is clean with plenty of seating. I love the barter area with six bar stools. It has a nice granite counter top that is wide enough to do work on your laptop, read or write. There is also plenty of natural lighting here. I love all of the bay windows that usher in the natural lighting. I ordered a drip coffee and had it at the bar top. For drip coffee, it's a pay as you can afford purchase. The recommended price is $3.75 for a cup of coffee then it's broken down into smaller increments. I had my coffee black and it tasted very good. I love the taste of the coffee bean. Also, drip coffee is served in a nice ceramic coffee cup. Kudos to them for offering a ceramic coffee cup over the generic paper coffee type cup served at so many places. The music isn't too loud here. Staff is friendly as well. This is a nice spot to hang out, work on your laptop, read or write. The music isn't too loud to interfere with reading. There is plenty of seating here as well. They also serve pastries and some other food items. Also, street parking only. You will need to park on the street. It wasn't a problem to find good street parking within a short walking distance, both times I visited here. Overall, thumbs up from me. I would visit here again. Not sure when I will return but I was impressed with my visit. I especially liked that it wasn't that noisy or too crowded. read more

Giving Switchback Hillside 5 stars for many reasons! One of the main reasons is they do real good cappuccinos-- the best in town! The espresso is strong yet smooth with a great taste and the oat milk is super creamy. Always very well executed. I also love their scones and the variety of breakfast items and snacks they offer. Another major plus is that this might be one of the largest coffee houses in the area-- outside of your corporate starbucks. This place is pretty spacious and there's more than enough seating inside and out on the patio. I've never had a problem finding seating and it's pretty quiet for the most part. I'd say on the weekends like saturday between 9-10am it's the busiest and loudest. I've found people with kids come mostly on the weekends and that disrupts any quiet time or conversations you might want to have with a friend. This was our first coffee stop during our visit to Colorado Springs. The staff was friendly & brought your drinks/food to you. Plenty of seating inside and outside. I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk -- it was good & not too sweet. My husband ordered a drip coffee -- also good & not too bitter. They use a sliding scale/pay what you can mindset for drip coffee which is great for supporting your local community. They have a suggested price of $3 with other options of paying it forward for a little over $4 or indicating you can't pay anything. This helps making a cup of coffee accessible for anyone. The Saturday we were there they had a small donut business pop up which added to the local community atmosphere. Overall great coffee shop! read more

Got the sausage breakfast sandwich and it was pretty good. Paid extra for the pepper jam and it was worth it. Small portion for the price. Wish it would've had a side of fruit. Got the apple walnut pastry and it kind of sucked. Wasn't really tasty, and for $6 I wish it would've been better. Restaurant doesn't have ketchup FYI. Also, wish I would've tried the coffee. Really amazing environment. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so you're not on top of each other. I went on a Monday though so it may be more busy on weekends/more popular times. I got the latte, grilled cheese and hummus toast which was all amazing. The grilled cheese with aioli was my favorite by far! In all honesty, it's a little pricey but not anymore so than the rest of the springs or country. Maybe not an everyday spot for me but for sure a great treat or study spot! read more

This place is rad. Good coffee, nice space, socially conscious. There's a lot to love here. We were lured in by how convenient it is to access from memorial park. I wanted coffee to drink in the park on a sunny day and the honey lavender iced latte was perfect. Homemade syrup and good coffee, just what I needed. Grabbed a drip coffee for my friend and the friendly barista let me know that drip coffee has a sliding price scale because they want everyone to be able to enjoy their good coffee. The suggested donation was $3, but you can pay more or less depending on your circumstances and how you're feeling that day. They have indoor and outdoor seating and did a good job spacing out the indoor seating so people aren't sitting too close together during covid. Mask compliance was also good. Also, the space is not only pandemic safe but just seems nice. Even when things go back to normal, the vibes here are good, and this would be a great place to sip coffee or get work done. read more

Avocado Toast I would say is the best in Colorado Springs compared to other coffee places I've been to. The Cortado was also made perfectly without any sourness or bitterness which I've been having with all the other roasters. Overall service was quick, smooth, and top-notch quality. The weather was beautiful so we opted to sit outside which was perfect and great for conversing. I ordered the fifty fifty with an avocado breakfast sandwich. You order then seat yourself and they bring your order to you. I also loved how they have little glass bottles of water that you can bring to your table to stay hydrated. Although the coffee was good, what really blew me away was how tasty the breakfast sandwich was! The bread was fluffy and so good. Everything inside the sandwich was seasoned to perfection. Ohhhh my god this is a must try when visiting colorado springs. When my fiancé and I ordered we were kinda shocked when our total for two breakfast sandwiches and two coffees was $38 after tip. But the second we took our first bite it was welll worth the price. We got the breakfast sandwhich and the pickled red onion was a game changer.
