In this review I'm going to mainly talk about taking advantage on the par 3 holes that you'll have…read morefour of on any championship par 72 golf course. Executive golf courses are comprised of multiple par 3's, playing to a par of 60, you can definitely find tune your mid to low iron play at these courses. Anytime your in the teeing area you must know that you have great advantages and set yourself up to the full use of them. Ball tee hight, shot angles away from dangers, distance and yardage. Depending on your skill level all of these factors should be used to create the best opportunity to hit the green, two putt for par and maybe drop in a birdie but play for par, center of the green - no flag hunting ever unless you know the course and know the placements. Think like the golf course architect, do a little research on him. What does he do to guard against your ball? High thick rough? heavily bunkered? swails and waving countours on the green? How does it slope? Front to back but more likely back to front. By PGA and R&A Rules your allowed two club lengths back from the teeing area your playing from. So two driver lengths is 90 inches approximately, so if your yardage book is giving you 172 from the blue tees and your sure you can hit a 7 iron 177 if you pure it, pace off three steps back to 176 and play from there, legally without penalty. I'm a high ball hitter, I like to open the club a little and hit a little baby fade into flagsticks although I prefer to draw the ball. Problem is the draw double cross miss can result in a overcooked ten yard yank that'll put your ball off the green, under a bush and a tunnel of trees ahead. How your wrist a bit, keep it locked, aim just left of the flag (unless the wind is blowing right with a left flag) club up a bit, hit the 6 instead of the 7 choking down a bit. The biggest problem I see with amateur players is that they don't hit enough club, coming up short and facing a testy bump and run, pitch, chip or flop all which are shots one must practice hard and play with confidence, so avoid the short misses. Freedom Fairways will give you the opportunity to play these 150 and in shorts, the most important scoring shots. Nobody likes to work on this most important scoring zone and I don't understand why. I'd drill for hours on 50-60-70 yarders until the sun went down and my hands hurt. So in conclusion, play the executive courses, although Freedom Fairways might be the only one in the area. And go see Doc in the club making area near the first tee. His knowledge and wisdom had me ask him to watch my practice which he did and said I'm "an over swinger" which I can not deny. But I still love to Grip it and Rip it.

This course is short, 3214 yards from the tips so it's great to work on your short game. Something I need to do each and every week for the rest of my days. The carts are in great shape so no issue with them. Glad I came out and played this course, course management is something I still need to work on as my score reflects that. So, if you have some free time come out here and check it out.

There is a lot of water on this course and it comes into play a lot on the back 9. The fairways are wide open for the most part. The course was in very good condition and the greens were fast. Several really nice Par 3's. I especially liked #12 on the back, 110 yards over water with a bunker in the front.

Many professional athletes are members ... and successful people who generally enjoy a good time and cutting loose. It's a place where there is a drinking culture for sure ... but the food is probably some of the best I've had at any other golf course, or restaurant, even! The bar is actually inside the men's locker room! You heard me right ... the showers/steam bath/jacuzzis are in a different room, so it's not like naked folks are walking through the bar area. But, I've never seen a set up like this before and it really works because there are sitting areas, tables, furniture in the area in between the bar and the first row of lockers. Outside is a patio area with fire pits ... they have a cigar room inside where you can puff away and watch TV in a comfy leather chair ... or, you can have a smoke outside near the firepits or at one of the outdoor seating areas. It feels kind of like someone's backyard (in a good way) outside and they do have an outdoor dining area for when it isn't too hot. 99% of the people you run into are male but there are occasional females playing a round. However, the main bar is in the men's locker room so if you are coming here with females, you'll be dining/drinking outside or in one of the dining areas. The course itself is beautiful, although very tough. Sand everywhere and the course was laid out to be challenging. These greens are some of the toughest I've played and although you need to pick your shots/locations on many holes, a few of them will let you open up and hope to avoid the water/sand/woods. It's not the nicest maintained golf course I've been to ... but it's certainly in the top 30% I've played. Your drink will never run out ... there are 'hydration stations' everywhere that offer beer or a Transfusion. (grape juice, vodka and something else) The course is caddy only ... no carts ... and the caddies are pretty good. I find them to be a bit of a mixed bag. The younger ones are fun and generally seem more like the type of person you'd expect to be selling financial services. The older ones are bit more grizzled and seem like they were hatched out of an egg and appeared as a caddy. Their reads on the course and greens are right on the money and you'll feel like a PGA player because they are so accurate. Overall, I must admit that there is no other club like it that I've played. It's fun, un-pretentious and will give you a chance to feel like what life as a pro-athlete in the off season would be like. The staff are all 100% service-oriented, the bartenders will keep your drink full at all times and the chef is a national treasure. If you like a traditional, buttoned-up golf club ... Old Memorial won't be for you. If you want a bit of a party atmosphere ... poker, drinking games and great conversations which include lots of laughter and under normal circumstances could get one cancelled ... this is your club. It's not cheap ... but the value is unmatched.

Really is hard to even see pictures, but man can I say from a 22 year old's perspective this place is a golfers heaven. Just driving into the facility, is like going into another world or secret society. From the driveway to the driving range, everything was in amazing shape. No carts here as it's caddie only and walking. Lots of sand on every hole and very very tough greens. Overall amazing experience from driving in, to walking into the clubhouse and grabbing a bite to eat. If you ever have the opportunity to play, don't make the mistake of passing up on Old Mo.

The warm up area is on mats but it's nice enough. The blue course has a lot of character and plenty of elevation change. It is challenging and tests all parts of your game. The views are beautiful and the course is manicured extremely well. There are plenty of holes to score on and only a couple very challenging holes to par. Really great course. The red course is a real treasure. The layout and feel of the red course is world class. At this point this has to be in my top 10 favorite courses I've ever played. Course management is a must. Lots of risk and reward opportunities. Plenty of holes to score on but not an easy course. Manicured perfectly. If you get the chance to play Streamsong don't miss the red course. This course is highly rated for a reason.
