My first recent try was to go the traditional route - heater, filter, bottles of water conditioner & beneficial bacteria, etc. etc. - when I unexpectedly happened upon an eye-opening You-Tube vid about the Walstad method (less homework & a more natural environment, the way God intended). So I returned all that other gear & am starting from scratch. Fernando eased My initial anxiety arriving as a total tank newbie, and gave Me a tour of the various low-maintenance plants I could start My nitrogen cycling with. Nolan - the Captain of this aquarium supplies ship - answered every one of My questions with patience & grace, did not talk down to Me or make Me feel stupid, and I left feeling happily hopeful that I might actually be successful in creating a fish-friendly safe & healthy environment. My first order (mid-July) had a nice mix -- grafted green spot Acan, hologram hammer, aquacultured purple/green branching hammer, mystery Zoa, Ultra Slice Bower, Space Invader Pectinia, Salted Agave Zoa, Eyelash Duncan, and the Flamethrower Blasto double. That Blasto really stood out for me. It was everything I hoped for, and I was happy with all of them. Actually, everything stood out! My most recent order (late August) included a Haterade Zoa mini colony, a Flamin' Rainbow Ring Lobo, and another high-end Zoa mini colony. The Haterade Zoas are so bright, and every polyp is open so beautifully. The Flamin' Rainbow Ring Lobo is incredible--the colors and coloration are fabulous. They ship with ice packs (even when it was in the 100s), and the animals arrived looking healthy. I'll keep watching their auctions. Great experience from start to finish.

He said they use UV and that they quarantine each fish with copper before they sell them. Well we should not have listened. 3 weeks later I just pulled my 9th dead fish out my established tank! The fish we bought from them died first and then spread to our existing fish. This includes an Emperor Angel that was transitioning, a French Angel and many others. We have lost over half our tank and the remaining fish (sail fin and Blue Tang) are not looking good. Buying fish here just cost us over $1000 in now dead fish. Do not buy here or if you do make sure you quarantine.

I no longer have an aquarium, but I still love the fish and what I really love is coral. This store is the best salt water store I have ever been to. They have a vast selection of fish and they are healthy and the prices are fair--know that salt water fish are not cheap. They also have great service and if there is a fish you want that they don't have they can likely get it for you. They also have the best selection of coral I have ever seen at a store and they even have some live coral (most stores sell dead coral). This is what I was looking for. I just wanted a piece of blue coral and they had it and I bought it. They also have an online store that has a great selection. The place is family owned and parking is easy. They know everything and will help you so go there.

Jessee was super nice in explaining their shipping process and the difference between their warehouse vs retail availability but that they could mix them for shipping. I ended up adding a couple inverts to my order to try and offset shipping costs and recently received my new pets. Everything was shipped very well, it was getting cold here in Houston and the heat pack provided remained warm so my tropical pets were still in a good temp range when they arrived. All my pets acclimated well and have seemingly adjusted to life with me so far. I'm hoping I'll be able to visit the store front itself next time I'm back in LA!
