If you're looking for a swim school that communicates effectively and is responsive to your child's needs, I would not recommend this one.

Over the past 6 months, it's turned into something similar to goldfish where it's a different teacher every week. One teacher came out and said I'm not really sure what he should work on, but I'm not here next week. That was the last straw for me. Too much time and money to not have consistency and see the teachers just standing around talking to each other in the pool or looking disinterested with a Stanley cup. We have done their JSCs for both of my kids this summer and have now signed up for weekly lessons. My daughter literally screamed and cried at the last place we were at and here she has had 0 tears! The water is warm so my kids are not shivering during lessons. The instructors are great and keep the kids on task and focused on the skills there are working on. I have noticed that sometimes they have a second (floater) teacher that goes to each lane and helps out as a second teacher for a few minutes and then move on to another class. At the end of each class teachers give you a little summary of how your child did. Sometimes the kids even earn ribbons for accomplishing different goals, which my kids absolutely love. I think it's a great motivator for them as well. The facility has some great added touches with amenities like an area with blow dryers, showers with soap in the pool area. It's well kept and clean. My kids are growing and becoming more confident and comfortable in the water. I could not be happier here!

At her first makeup class, Saylor was so scared, she was crying hysterically and refused to get in the water. Eleanor, who I believe is one of the managers, knows Saylor from seeing her, and jumped right in to save the day! Eleanor went above and beyond to make sure Saylor was comfortable, and by the end of the first makeup class, Saylor was thriving! At our next makeup class, Eleanor had Saylor's favorite toys waiting for her, and Saylor loved that, and had no tears, and was ready to swim! I just wanted to say, we have loved everyone we have worked with at Goldfish St Charles, and we definitely appreciate Eleanor going above and beyond!

She is very sensitive and had strong aversions to water when she started, but the teachers helped her feel at ease, slowly introducing her to the water and letting her go at her own pace. Thanks to their excellent and responsive teaching, she has mastered skills I thought would take years in just a matter of weeks. She LOVES swimming now and feels so proud of everything she is learning. And as a mom who also loves swimming and highly values water safety, it's such a reassurance to know she is in good hands. My daughter is also sensitive about male teachers, and when I called Bear Paddle to request female teachers only, Mona was SO kind, empathetic, and accommodating. She reassured me that this is a totally normal thing to ask for and that they were happy to help. Every time we've spoken to a staff member, they have been generous and helpful in finding us class times that work for our family, getting us on wait lists, etc. I can't recommend this swim school enough!

I truly appreciate the structure and the progress my little one has made in a short time. However, I'm giving 2 stars because I had a very valid concern regarding my child's privacy, and it was completely dismissed. During class, other parents were taking photos and videos that included my child. When I respectfully brought this up, the manager told me it "shouldn't be a problem" and offered no support or solution. Actually made me feel bad about brining it up. and i was also told that they encourage taking pictures and posting them for marketing. smh As a parent, I feel it's reasonable to expect that my child not be recorded by strangers, especially in a private facility designed for children. I wasn't asking for anything drastic--just basic respect and maybe a gentle reminder to parents to be mindful of others. It's disappointing that my concern wasn't taken seriously at all, and I hope Goldfish Swim School reconsiders how they handle privacy issues moving forward. It would go a long way in making all families feel safe and respected.
