Swimtank has a great program for kids and they have really amazing instructors. Our kid was enrolled for more than a year and the only reason we decided to stop going was the drive. We live about 45 minutes away and drive ended up getting to us. The reason I couldn't give Swimtank 5 stars are for the same reasons many of the other reviewers mentioned. It was very had to get in the program but once we were in, I didn't think it was too hard to navigate the website or the re-enrollment process. Adding to the negative is the tight facility in Harrison, the changing rooms get very crowded when a class ends and the showers can have a bit of a wait time. That said, I think the program is great and if we lived closer we would likely still be going here for our kid's swim lessons. read more

I have had a very positive experience at Swim Tank with all 3 of my children and would highly recommend it! All 3 children have different personalities, learning styles and level of ability in the water, but they all enjoy their lessons at Swim Tank and have gained a lot of confidence both in and out of the pool. I applaud the structured, yet fun method of swim instruction that is utilized here. The owners, administrators and staff are professional, open and courteous. I do not envy the daunting task they have in creating the schedule for a wide array of students and abilities with limited time slots - there are only so many hours in a day! The complaints that it is hard to get into a program here is only a testament to how wonderful it is! I also appreciate that the owners and administrators are open to communication and feedback from families. One example of this is how they recently updated their make up policy to give more opportunities for students to make up missed sessions. This was done despite the fact that previous policy was typical of other swim schools, gymnastics facilities, etc. They also clearly lay out their policies via email and on their newly updated website. read more

My daughters (ages 3 & 7) just finished lessons here and we are blown away by the progress they made in such a short time. My youngest is still "learning to swim" but she is so much safer, now goes under water, and is well on her way to being independent. My older daughter noticeably improved her stroke and became a stronger swimmer. The instructors were excellent, child-friendly and individualized the lesson to meet each of my daughter's needs. Additional staff was courteous and professional when ensuring all families followed COVID guidelines. All three of my kids have gone to swim tank. My youngest 4, is now swimming without her bubble. Jumping into the pool swimming to the side and getting herself out. Life saving skills! The staff has been flexible and accommodating. We have missed a class and was able to reschedule. I've read the reviews of people missing 3+ classes. I'm sure like any business they have staff for a specific amount of students and it'll get crazy if everyone had to reschedule. It's off 287. Allot time for traffic and accidents and your all good. We had our first born in lessons at the Y, Pace, etc. It was basically 10 kids in a pool splashing with one instructor. I don't want to teach my kid to splash I want to teach them the skill of swimming. Which is exactly what aqua tots does. The program is so booked because it is so GOOD. Small teacher to student ratio, with a proven method to keep young ones safe and confident in the water. 5 stars for sure. read more

Swim Tank has been an amazing place for my kids to learn swimming. First and foremost, their methodology for teaching kids to be comfortable in the water and then progress through water safety proficiency to basic swimming skills and beyond (if you are interested for your child) are top notch. Their small group size and dedicated instructors with consistent training program earn them the great word of mouth reputation they have. We have been taking lessons there for over 6 years for two kids and they have provided exactly what we wanted: not only competent but confident swimmers. And most importantly, they know how to motivate children to learn through their badge system which is a huge source of pride each time a child achieves one! Beyond that, our personal experience has shown them to be caring and empathetic to unique situations, allowing us to work with them around concerns that have arisen. They do this by putting me in direct contact with swim instructors and pool managers as well as the owners if needed. They work hard to understand the unique issues a child may have and to help the parents achieve the end goal of learning to swim for that child. I often tell people to use this program not only for their excellent swimming instruction but because we have found them to go above and beyond with their efforts to meet each child's needs. I don't know how SwimTank has achieved such a high rating. Let me note that this is a swim establishment in which children are driven to and from primarily by mothers, which leads me to my story and experience. Because my current pregnancy has left me feeling ill during the third trimester, this has forced me to miss some classes and need make ups for my toddler. Both the manger and supervisor (mothers themselves) refused to let me make up more than 3 missed classes (such a ridiculous policy that leaves no room for even a future make up in another session or a refund). Let me note that I am in the infant/parent class, so I enter the pool with my child each time and hold her myself, each time. Anyone who has been pregnant knows how challenging this can be coupled with a big belly, nausea, sciatica and so forth. What a terribly unfair and simply unsympathetic policy and group of people who run this corporation. Shame on them for not being more understanding to a mother and child situation. I will not be returning going forward and will surely be sharing my negative experience with everyone I know! read more

I simply couldn't agree with her more. We've been with Swim tank for many years and recently one of my child starts having an anxiety attack whenever she goes there for her swim class. After giving this new development some time to settle and giving enough chances (7 classes) for my child to ease in, things didn't get better at all. So after consulting with her psychologist, and based on her medical recommendation, I reached out to them and asked if they can transfer the remaining days fee of what I had already paid for this child to my other child's account. I wasn't asking for a full or partial refund. I didn't blame them for creating a situation where my child suddenly developed a new anxiety attack whenever she goes there. All I asked was an understanding of the current situation and a simply solution that's fair to both parties. You keep my money and I let my other child to take over the classes I already paid for the one who is having a hard time. Yet Olivia the manager simply told me, they don't care if your child is having a difficult time going in to the pool or not, they will not refund you or transfer prorated credit to my other's child account or make other arrangement for you. So here we are, with a child who developed a new anxiety about going into the pool - thanks to SwimTank and $500 wasted. We will be definitely moving them to a different swim place where they truly care and understand each child's needs and are willing to work with parent's concerns. And I will make sure my very horrible experience with them will be shared with all the Moms and Dads social media groups in Westchester. read more

First I do not think it is unfair to review a place that you aren't currently enrolled in! I think it is completely useful to parents trying to enroll their child to manage their expectations which is something that wasn't done for me! I had heard wonderful things about aquatots and this review has nothing to do with their abilities to teach your child to swim I'm sure they're wonderful! I put my daughter on the waitlist in September 2015 it is now April 2017! I felt the need to share this with parents who are in the same situation I was in! Aquatots gives people false hope! Someone with a toddler that requires a parent to go into the water will never get in unless you have another child already enrolled period end of story and that's what they should tell you.I emailed or called at least once a month and every time I was told wait till the next session you'll get an email you have to act quickly. I'd get an email alert at like 5 Am jump up and log on and never Not once was there any availiability.. a year and a half and nothing! People would say just put her in SUNY or YMCA and so I did and guess what a complete waste of money 12 toddlers and 12 parents with two teachers in one lane of a swimming pool is useless! It may benefit someone who is scared of water or hasn't been in water, but not a kid like mine who spends all summer in a pool or at the beach! I searched and searched for a good program and I finally found an amazing advanced swim program called AQUABILITIES WITH JENNIFER! 2:1 ratio, which is amazing and Within a month of attending class, my 2 1/2 year old goes under water on her own, swims to side of pool, climbs out of pool by herself and almost floating on her back alone, which is what I want my child to learn first & foremost, swimming will come, survival is key! I think Aqua Tots at Swim Tank is GREAT for kids learning to swim and I am very grateful for that. However, they are not so great with the parents. Their rigid rules and inability to be flexible for their longstanding families has left me feeling that they really don't value their customers. It's unfortunate because I do think they run a great program for the kids. I will add that I will be returning, putting up with their poor quality of customer interaction, because I do like the lessons. It's just too bad their customer service is so below average. My daughter is seven years old and has been attending Aquatots since the age of four. Initially this swimming facility was heaven sent. The instructors are rock stars and are great with the children. My daughter has learned so much!!! The facility has a great reputation and of course has grown in their customer base, but with growth change is inevitable. The cleanliness and individual attention has diminished. Group sizes are larger, so average swim time for a 45 minute swim class is 7.5 minutes per child in actual water. And once swim class is over it is heavy competition for the shower with long wait times. I wish the business side would go back to the family professional side. read more

The instruction was great, but good luck trying to get your child lessons. I finally got my daughter in for a 10 week summer session. It was 1pm on a Saturday, but I was glad to get my daughter lessons. The next session, all the slots were filled by returning students. The same thing happened the time after that. I was told that priority was given to children who took classes during the year. As someone who took summer class, I was only offered class slots on weekday mornings. That doesn't work for a school age child. read more

Giving this two stars for the back-end user/customer interface. The instructors are wonderful, the managers are wonderful. My daughter has learned so many amazing skills in the program. But....the website is horrible. We're now on the second interface and it's not intuitive figuring out enrollment, payment, scheduling makeups etc. The calendar on the website is woefully out of date and forget trying to find/schedule makeups. My daughter has woken up the day of swim class ill (as often happens with kids who are in their first year of pre-school) and because I didn't try to schedule the makeup 24 hours in advance, I lost out. I really wish that the business side could keep up with the service side. I've also noted looking at other reviews that the business managers/owners really try to shift the blame to parents and make a lot of excuses (I understand the tight ratios but surely there is room to offer more opportunity for makeups, make reimbursement processes clearer if medical emergencies etc). I see this as being consistent with an unwillingness to change (parents have complained about the portal for the three years we've been here). I'm not sure there are better programs in terms of coach-child interaction elsewhere, the coaches are truly special, but there are certainly places with less frustrating business practices. read more

The most amazing place for your children to learn to swim and advance their swimming techniques. I have a child with special needs and the entire staff has been amazing with him for the past 4 years. My daughter learned to swim without assistive devices by the age of 3.5. My son is almost in the Pre-Team and they both absolutely love their instructors. If your looking for a place to "truly" teach your child how to swim, "this is the Place!" You may have to wait to get in but that just shows you how in demand they are for their excellent teaching strategies. It's worth the wait!!! AND, they are opening a new building/location in May. I have heard nothing but great things about this businesses swimming lessons. However, I am giving them one star for their registration process which is discriminatory towards working parents. Their registration process gives priority towards the families who have taken lessons every semester previously. I have a one year old and have been trying to get into this program since 6 months. Many of our family friends have no trouble getting in on the random Monday- Friday lessons. The problem is when both parents are working they can only take their children to the Saturday or Sunday lessons. Every time registration opens these are either all full from the previous families or there is one spot. They have a lottery system for all the spots. So it doesn't matter if you try to register at 9 pm when registration opens or 9 am the next day. I think it is completely unfair to allow families to keep their spots every semester and then not allow new families in. The fact that the spring 2015 have priority AGAIN for fall 2015 - WITH SUMMER SESSION IN BETWEEN - is ridiculous!! Why can't they allow for new families? I understand for like the 14-15 school year allowing those families to have priority for the entire year - but to continue it on? There should be a cut off somewhere. Also, for the open spot(s?) it should be on a first come first serve basis. period. Who knows how they are choosing for those openings supposedly on the lottery system. We have been taking swimming lessons somewhere else that are quite adequate and I'm done trying for aqua tots. I only was trying because I personally know one of the teachers and I loved her from another activity. read more
