The instructors and front desk employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and their playlists are a huge highlight with a mix of EDM, pop, and hip hop that makes every class feel like a workout and a vibe. I also love that you can select your own spot in advance, and the studio is thoughtfully spaced out. Highly recommend if you're looking for a challenging, high-energy workout in a welcoming environment!

This is a great studio for someone just not for me. First off the front desk staff is super…read morefriendly and helpful. You can tell they are really great at their work. I happened to try the studio out the second week of their opening at the new location. It's close to shake shack and tacko in the marina. There are two studios one in the lower room and one upstairs. It's a little wonky to get upstairs because you take your shoes off inside and then walk outside on a rug on the street to the upstairs location. You can opt to leave your shoes in a cubby outside on the street as well but I mean it's SF I wouldn't trust leaving anything you like outside. I only tried out the upper studio. It is clean which is nice! You are also assigned a mat location which can be nice depends on what you like. The room is heated but not overly. There are a range of classes from pilates to hiit to yoga. I am a yoga teacher and love the practice so I opted for yoga most of the time. The room is very dark and the music is very loud. The music competes with the downstairs music and voices and it's not a very zen experience. This place is focused on fitness so just know that going in. It seems similar to soul cycle with a dark room, trendy, and loud music. I did really enjoy one class and I can recommend this one it's the 5:15 power flow with Sevilla Santana. She's great and has creative flows and enjoyable music. I think they are still working out the details so there may already be improvements. They also provide a towel for every class, have water refill stations, deodorant and other hygienic items available, and the best part of course is the cold lavender towel they give you during Shavasana. Such a luxury after sweating it all out! You can't go wrong with the intro deal of 10 classes in 30 days. Give it a try and see if this place is for you. It's fun regardless and not much of a commitment.

Let me count the ways how much I miss and love Equinox…read more Yes, I know--it's a high-end gym. But you truly get what you pay for. I was a member of this location for over a decade, and since moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, I can honestly say there is nothing quite like it. The nearest one to me now is in Atlanta, and I still miss the San Mateo club regularly. This location has everything you could possibly want in a fitness facility--and then some. The Fitness Floor Downstairs is a beautifully air-conditioned workout space designed for people who are serious about exercising. No distractions, no crowds hovering by the windows--just a clean, focused environment. You'll find: * Full weight training equipment * Recumbent bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills * Dedicated spin, Pilates, TRX, and group fitness studios * A large open stretching area with foam rollers * Cold, filtered water stations throughout * Staff available for spotting if you're training solo It's efficient, professional, and thoughtfully designed. Locker Rooms & Amenities The locker rooms feel more like a boutique hotel than a gym. They are consistently spotless and fully stocked with: * Plush towel service * Spacious showers with teak benches * Steam rooms infused with eucalyptus * Complimentary razors, Q-tips, and personal care items * Premium Kiehl's products It's luxurious, yes--but also incredibly practical. You can comfortably get ready for work, dinner, or travel without feeling rushed. The Rooftop Pool One of the standout features is the heated rooftop pool. It has multiple lap lanes, cabanas, and water aerobics equipment, and it truly feels like a mini country club in the middle of downtown San Mateo. The pool is heated year-round, which means you can swim in any season--something you quickly get spoiled by. They even provide sunscreen from Supergoop!, along with full towel service. It's those little details that make the experience feel elevated. Classes, Spa & Services The class offerings are extensive and easy to manage through the app. Signing in is seamless--just scan your phone and go. Highlights include: * Yoga in a beautiful bamboo studio with HEPA filtration and ceiling fans * Pilates (available as private, duo, or small-group sessions) * A full-service spa on the upper level * A juice bar and retail shop featuring premium fitness apparel Everything feels intentional, polished, and well-maintained. Location & Convenience The club is located right in the heart of downtown San Mateo, making it incredibly walkable. There are restaurants, grocery stores, and cafés nearby, including one of my favorite bakeries and specialty markets. Parking is also surprisingly easy for a downtown location: * Two-hour validation * Surface lot, garage, and rooftop parking options That convenience makes a big difference in daily use. Value & Membership Yes, membership can be expensive. However, many employers offer corporate discounts, which can make the cost more manageable. In my case, the value absolutely justified the price because I used the facility regularly and took advantage of the amenities. Even when I relocated, canceling my membership was straightforward and professional--no pressure, no hassle. Bottom Line Equinox San Mateo set the standard for what a fitness club should be: clean, thoughtfully designed, service-oriented, and genuinely enjoyable to use. If I ever move to another city with an Equinox, I will join again without hesitation. Because at the end of the day-- life is short, and you should live well.

Not sure what the other classes are like but this was taught by Rick, like an ashtanga style class for 60 minutes and a few of the hardest moves removed. Still a tough class and most poses and done twice. The temperature of the room was 108F, widely attended with around 24 students. 40% of them left around 15 minutes before the class ended. Yes, it's hot and it feels good. Yes you feel like you're going to die. But you'll feel so alive afterwards. Rick is a great teacher and provider clearly and timely guidance. A plus is the lush garden view in the window. If I come to SF, this is a must. I didn't bring yoga mat due to traveling, I recommend to bring a towel to sweat on. The floors are the soft martial art type floors. Love Body Temp Yoga!

I looked up hot pilates and body temp seems to be one of the very VERY few places to offer hot mat pilates in SF. I booked my first class with Patty and ever since I've been locked in. Patty's flow is smooth and challenging. She offers modifications and compliments when we most need it. The studio is small and there is only 1 class happening at a time. They have changing rooms and they also have 1 bathroom but no showers so be ready to baby wipe your self if you have work afterwards or go home to shower because you will be hot and sweaty after. (I hope this review does not make it challenging for me to book Patty's classes ah!! Patty if you'r reading this, I am shy and would like to hear more hip hop songs lol)

The studio is located on Union Street where there are many shops and restaurants. I arrived 15 min before class started and noticed how spacious it was in the waiting area. The studio didn't have the most pleasant smell and it was a bit stuffy right when I walked in. This was a 75 min Vinyasa Flow lead by Jenny, and we did a lot of breath and movement. It was relaxing but yet challenging at the same time. I felt very relaxed at the end of the class. I can say that this was one of the best yoga classes that I've taken.
