Hui Lau Shan - Mango pancake

Love this place, only downside is.. it's so far from where I live. I'm waiting for them to open up…read moretheir Frisco location so I can go more! We come here all the time! My favorite drink is their D3, which is their mango pomelo and sago. It's a bit on the pricier side and a really heavy dessert. So probably best to get it in between meals or get it for a summer treat! I've gotten their other drinks like the mango and coconut with aloe or crystal jelly. Their jellies itself have no flavor, really just to chew while drinking something refreshing and delicious. They have this store in CA and my parents really like their mango mochi. I always see their mango pudding, but I've never actually gotten it. Overall, definitely recommend. It is located in the super busy ranch99 plaza with BCD tofu, kickin crab, 85 degrees, etc so make sure you arrive early to find some parking. They have a pretty open and spacious spot so tons of seating. Definitely check them out if you haven't already.

This dessert shop is by far the best mango-themed dessert spot in the Dallas area. The desserts are…read moreamazing and made with fresh mango. I was pleasantly surprised by how well mango pairs with so many ingredients, such as purple rice, coconut milk, and pomelo. We visited on a weekend with a group of four and were seated easily. The service was quick--our desserts were ready within 5-10 minutes--and the staff was friendly. My favorite item was the mango coconut duo mix, which had the perfect balance of sweetness from the mango and the richness of the purple rice. My least favorite was the durian pancake, as it contained a lot of cream and felt a bit too filling for my taste.

I stopped by here over the weekend, as it's been on my list of places to try in the area. I was…read moreimpressed by how spacious and open the bakery was inside! They even have a ton of children's highchairs if you want to bring your family. Now for the sweet treats, this place has the widest variety of cheesecakes I've seen in the area! The employees were friendly and fast! They boxed up my cakes before I was even done paying. If you like cheesecake, this is your place! I'll admit I'm not a huge cheesecake person so I opted for the strawberry tart and matcha tiramisu to share with my husband. I also got a citron cookie but I didn't love it. My husband really enjoyed it though! Every single piece is beautiful and fully loaded with tasty toppings. I will say the pieces are generous for the price at just under $10 a slice. They are BIG. The strawberry's and cream were delicious. Strawberries were super fresh and still crunchy. I really enjoyed the matcha tiramisu as it was really flavorful and not too sweet. Their cream is really good. Very light and creamy. I can't wait to return and try either the black sesame or melon tart.

The toppings on them were overfilling but very aesthetics at the same time. We spent about 15 minutes just walking back and forth because we were overwhelmed with all the options they had :) We got the Coconut Coffee Tart and the Earl Grey Cheesecake, both came out to about $9-10 per slice. The coconut coffee tart was okay, we couldn't really taste the coconut nor the coffee much, it was somewhat chocolate-y instead? On the other hand, the earl grey cheesecake was so so good. The earl grey flavor was subtle but the cheesecake was really dense and perfectly sweetened. I prefer the cheesecakes over their tarts, and I would probably try the tiramisu next time. The inside was so nice and has so many tables, definitely a good hangout or study spot. The service was okay, the lady at the front didn't seem that welcoming though.

Any Italian will tell you how rich Ice Cream is compared to Gelato and most Americans wont be able to tell whats worse for you Ice Cream or Custard considering the egg yolks really do make it richer. As a Californian visiting my sister and doing a BBQ tour I was kind of tired of banana pudding, peach cobbler and as much as I love both (also pecan pie). Something about the roasted and sugared pecans really does go with everything. The softness, cold pairs with the crunch and richness and the nuttiness. Rico Suave was amazing, great choice when I asked the staff what they reccomend. I came back the following day to try their turtle split. Something about the hot fudge and custard not being too old really keeps things from freezing. Add the marshmallow cream is a real blend of the regular banana split and the turtle. Service was great, good reccomendations from the staff and friendly locals waiting for their orders. Prices are affordable, portions are large. I can only imagine how popular this place is in the summer, I came during a cold front, a light freeze, a cold snap as you will. Although I walked here I could see the need for more outdoor seating despite seeing mostly car traffic there are neighborhoods and a school nearby. I'm hoping next time I come back they have their seasonal key lime flavors. The only weird things is the chocolate custard machine slowing extruding towards the front which looks alot like something else.
