I requested a quote through Yelp and my request was sent to multiple auto shops. I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

I hired Quantum Mobile Mechanic to fix a brake light issue, and James did a good job of diagnosing the issue in a quick amount of time. He didn't have the part in his van, it wasn't a common one (brake position switch) so we rescheduled for a couple of days later. What struck me about James as a business person, was that he didn't just run a test, drop a quote and drive away, he took time to get to know me and we had a good conversation about his business, and how my son wants to be a mechanic. I can't recommend this business enough, the ease of scheduling, fair pricing, and excellent customer service. Really happy that I chose Quantum! I hope you are too!

Like I told you when you showed up, I didn't want to text you about it because you complained about people saying you broke stuff on other jobs. You did actually break my hood release mechanism, but the plastic was 11 years old and you told me about that, and the zip ties are still holding. We both don't know what the noise is but I know 100% it started the first time I drove the car more than 5 miles after you worked on it. If I always listened to loud music then this wouldn't be an issue and I would just be enjoying my ice cold ac. I've maintained and repaired this car for 120k miles. I'm not legally allowed to do ac work so I called you. Next time I'll get the certifications and the equipment. Cheers ORIGINAL: My ac works great but I've had a super annoying rattling noise since the work was performed. I've torn apart most everything that was touched during the repair and found a lot of loose bolts but still can't get the rattling to stop. I'm assuming it's just a bad quality expansion valve at this point. Not worth dropping another $1500 to resolve but definitely not calling them back for future work.
