It's been quite a while since I've been here and overlooked writing a review. I came for accessories for my bicycle and could not believe how packed this little bike shop was. Well, at the time, it was the beginning of Covid-19 and I guess everyone was buying bicycles. They were super busy but found the time to help me with my quest for the accessories I needed for my bike. The staff were plentiful, helpful kind & patient. SD was very well practiced. This place is right down the road from me and I've brought in bikes for tune ups or flat tires etc... They've always done the job well and very quick. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The prices on bikes aren't too crazy either. They've got cruisers, city bikes, mountain bikes, and high end road bikes. From what I saw for adult bikes, the prices range from about $400 to $2000. They also carry all sorts of accessories and gear plus they do rentals as well. Perfect if you're visiting and looking for a faster way over the bridge than your two feet. For rentals, they're very conveniently located in walking distance to 5+ hotels at the base of the bridge. read more

We went there to explore repairing our 6+ year old Walmart bike or getting a new one. My husband uses it to ride around our neighborhood, so it didn't need a lot of bells and whistles. The young man who helped us was great. He didn't badmouth the Walmart bike but admitted they aren't built/assembled as well as better bikes. Yeah I had a flat they said it would be a little while, but when I said I could do it they let me borrow some tools right away and I took care of it. Even helped me out with a few pointers while I was putting the tire back on my walmart bike! A+ from me knew I went to the right place. read more

Folks, please don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews. I shopped around at every bike place in the area and eventually bought my bike here because of the knowledge and expertise of the staff here. I'm not sure if I was dealing with the owner or not, but the guy I worked with was phenomenal. He helped steer me towards a bike that was suitable for my needs and he discouraged me from spending too much. I ended up getting a clearance bike from last season. He spent extra time fitting my bike and making sure it was properly tuned before I left. He also let me test drive the bike extensively before I purchased it, answered all of my questions, and threw in a year's service/maintenance for free. They know their stuff here and they don't at all talk down to you. I don't know much about bikes, but I want to start becoming a true cyclist - they didn't look down at me at all, but helped me choose a solid "beginner's" racing bike that wouldn't break the bank, but would help me understand if this is something I want to pursue in the long term. read more

Let me first say we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Lee introduced himself and asked if he could help. We explained we recently moved from PA and we were unfimilar the area and unsure of the bike style we wanted. He explained all our options, asked what type of riding we were looking to do and explained all the different style bikes. We asked to if we could ride some and immediately he said yes. We were there probably 3 hours and rode all different bikes. He took a lot of time with us and even gave us suggestions about areas to check out. We were not planning to buy bikes the same day but the service, conversation and prices were excellent. We stoped at several stores around Charleston and this was by far the best all around. No one took time with us like Lee did, explained the terrain or answered our questions throughly. I have experience riding on the road and my better half was looking to get into it. Lee set us up perfectly and I feel excellent about our selections. If your looking for a knowledgeable bike store, excellent service and great prices don't hesitate to stop. I bought bikes for me and my wife...two 7 speed Beach Cruisers and could not be happier! Lee was knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. They're both aluminum frames and a true joy to ride. My wife's is now 2+ years old and was in need of a new tire and a tune-up which Lee took care of quickly. His sales and services prices are great and you can't beat the service! We rented bikes from here and had a pretty good experience. They were happy enough to chat a few minutes and give us directions to get to the bridge and into Charleston. Yes, the bikes were heavy metal clunkers, but they did get around. Would have been nice to be able to take the basket OFF of the bike to cut some of the wind drag, but other than that they ran well enough for 7-speed clunkers with worn down seats. After cruising down the bridge I did realize why the brakes were so worn down on the bikes- I'm sure everyone just wears them out. read more

I can't actually comment on the bikes or the people that work here, because they were closed at least an hour early when I tried to go to the shop and rent a bike from them today. I was hoping to rent a bike to ride from my hotel in Mt. Pleasant over the bridge to Charleston, but instead I was relegated to the local metro transit system, and my two feet. read more

My wife and I are experienced bikers who own bikes and have rented bikes on numerous occasions. We were from out of town and wanted to see Charleston by bike. The bike shop is located near the base of the Ravenel Bridge connecting Mount Pleasant to Charleston. We rented two seven speed cruisers which were in excellent mechanical condition and comfortable. The staff of the bike shop were very attentive, helpful, knew bicycles and were familiar with the area.. We were totally satisfied with our rental experience. Biking Tips: Bicycling is an excellent way to see downtown Charleston but be aware' there is very little infrastructure to support bicyclists, i.e. dedicated bike lanes or parking. You will be riding with automobile traffic on city streets. While we did not experience any difficulties I would hesitate to recommend this form of transportation for families with children. Also, the grade of the Ravenel Bridge going from Mount Pleasant to Charleston is too steep for a seven speed bike and you will need to walk your bike across the first part of the Bridge. The grade coming back is not as bad. Another alternative is to take a water taxi from Patriots Point to the Charleston Waterfront and or vise versa. We walked our bikes across part of the Bridge to get to Charleston and took the water taxi back. We enjoyed both but the next time would probably do it the other way around, that is take the water taxi to Charleston and bike back. read more

I had some difficult issues with my headset- Jeff was the only one in town willing to take the time and effort to address these problems. I've lived in and around Charleston for several years and have dealt with many of the other bike shops. Sweetgrass has probably the best mechanic in town and I won't take my bike anywhere else. read more
