My wife loves riding her bike around our neighborhood alone and with our kid. Recently, she got a flat and Mike's Bikes helped get her back on the street. I came in one morning and was helped immediately. Within 15 minutes Devin had replaced my flat tube and replaced our worn back tire. I have no idea if $60 bucks is a good price or not, but the service was quick and nice. I would definitely consider Mike's again for my bike needs. read more

Because the bike shop closest to home was closed on Monday, went to Mike's Bikes to repair two flats on my daughter's spare bike that no one had ridden for quite a while. Kevin was very helpful and knowledgeable about bikes. He not only fixed it while I waited but kept the cost down by finding previously owned tires. He tested the bike first and had me test it in the lot. Kevin gets a 5 star for patience and willingness to accommodate his customer. Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the fellas who helped us out today! We had two flat tires on our bike that had been in storage. They stopped what they were doing to put some air in the tires. We were prepared to leave it for tubes to be added, but they assured us it was pretty normal for the tires to go flat when it's stored like that. They were so helpful and it was so appreciated. Mike's Bikes RAWKS! My daughter goes to school in Charleston and her bike is her only transportation. She got a flat tire and was having some brake issues. The only time she could get it repaired is on Sunday. What bike shop is open on a Sunday? We didn't have an appointment but explained our situation. Bradford took care of her in record time and could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He went above and beyond with customer service (rare these days). I would highly, highly recommend these folks for all of your biking needs. They have a large selection of bikes, both traditional and electric assisted. I am thinking about buying a new bike, I live several hours out of the area and will buy one from them, when I do. I don't normally write reviews, but these folks deserve your business! read more

My wife and I were buying two Beach Cruisers this past Friday. The guy that was helping us was super nice and fit the bike perfectly for her. Heres the WOW factor. A customer comes in with his bike with an issue. They tell him they can have it ready the next day. The customer pauses and tells them this is his only means of transportation and is there any way he can get it sooner. They stopped what they were doing and put his bike on the rack and fixed it right then. You talk about customer service. Service is everything and these guys showed it. Went in for break adjustments after I had all mechanical disc breaks and lines replaced with them 3 weeks prior. I explained I wanted to tighten up front breaks. The mechanic gave me a hard time because I needed the bike back in two days, said I should have come in a week ago and said he might have to replace break pads. I went home and spent an hour on line, ultimately doing it myself. I definitely felt like I was a hassle rather than a customer. read more

Found my wifes bike in the back of the shed and it was a mess. Took it here and asked them to clean it and tune it up if possible. They had to replace the brakes and some cables but when they were done my wife had a brand new bike! Took a wheel into Mike's on Folly Rd to have a tubeless tire put on. Three previous tires had worked well on the same wheel. Initially mechanic said tire would not work tubeless but he looked it up online and found he was wrong. He then insisted that the rim tape would not work for tubeless even though it had done so for 3 previous tires. I gave in and said to replace the rim tape. after 20' of struggle and putting half a bottle of orange tire sealant in the wheel the tire finally seated. Now the valve was leaking air and sealant which it never had before. As it was near the end of the day I was told that they were closing and couldn't do anything more for me. I was advised to go buy an o-ring to put over the valve to slow down the leak. I ended up paying $30 for all of this. Now my wheel, which had worked fine for literally thousands of miles, leaks like a sieve from the valve and the spoke nipples. read more

I took my bike in for some basic maintenance and to have the back wheel replaced. After spending $150, I was back riding around town. Two weeks later I get a flat on my back tire. The tube wasn't punctured by a screw or nail, it was punctured by a spoke hole because the bike mechanic failed to put rim tape on the wheel when he replaced it. This was a senseless mistake that shouldn't be made by a professional bike shop. read more

Nope nope nope. I came in to buy some parts and the staff barely stopped what they were doing to glance at me, and one employee wouldn't even talk to me. They don't seem to like women much - they had pin-up pictures all over their walls but weren't willing to talk to a real woman. I'm a bike mechanic, and I do not recommend these guys at all. Took my moms trike for a tune up and and to repair a flat tire; I was told I it needed new tires and with the tune up it would cost near $300. I agreed because I love my 80 mother and wanted her to be safe. The shop took off my 20 wheels replaced them with 26 inch wheels and claimed that due to a bad wheel bearing which they could not find in order to replace it, that the trike fenders were hitting the tires based on this I was told that I should opt to remove the fenders. Well I located the wheel bearing online and the only reason the fenders could not be mounted back on the bike is because the larger 26. Inch wheels closed the fender gap. These ppl are not bright, they rendered the trike unridable due to the excessively large wheels which compromised the integrity and safety of the trike, I almost killed myself on it. Common sense dictates if you remove 20 inch wheels then replace them with the same size. And don't lie and blame a bad wheel bearing as to why the fenders can't be remounted because you decided without my approval to put monsters side tires on, who does that?! read more

I haven't had my bike with me and its been just sitting in my parents shed for the last 4 years, but when I brought it back up I took it into Mike's and they were so very helpful and it didn't cost me much at all to get a new wheel lock, new chains, and all cleaned and oiled up. Bought my $500 Giant bike here. Had a baby and it was in our shed for a year and half and it got dusty. Took it in for a $70 tune up. Got it back and had another bike put together here. Spent $125 on both bikes. My bike came back still filthy. Had my infant with me and guy "loaded" my bikes in my truck and left one the handle bars hanging out a foot over the side (which is illegal). Had to load up my infant and load the bike myself. I will be finding a different bike shop that cares about repeat customers who spend hundreds of dollars at their shop. Someone else will get my tune up business as well as the business for my child seat or trailer and my son's future bike. Total disappointment. I always try to support local businesses, but I like to be treated decently to keep my repeat business. Very let down for the amount of money I've spent here over the years. They were more interested in the guy who was not spending his money there...I guess it's true this is not a woman-friendly business. Good luck if you walk in without a penis! read more

The shop guys helped me pick one out for my size and needs. Very happy with it. The bike rides like a dream. Had one small problem and they fixed it immediately. Spent over $700 to buy a bike for my Son at the Mt. Pleasant location. No issues with them; in fact I give them 4 to 5 stars. They suggested going to the Folly Rd location to get a helmet, bike cover and other accessories. After getting stuck in traffic, called to ask if they would wait 5 minutes for us. Told them we bought the bike in MP and needed to get helmet, cover, etc from them. The response was "we're only here for 10 more minutes. " That was at 4:50. After driving like a maniac, arrived at 4:56 to find the door locked and no one around. Obviously could care less about customers' business. read more

First impression, I found the staff to be not only very polite & helpful, but far more knowledgable about the industry than other bike shops in the area. More importantly, they repaired both of my bikes in under a week & then had them delivered to the island for me as a surprise!
