Why you ask? Great question...because it's THEE premier chocolate store in town where you'll reward yourself with their decadent truffles, milk and dark chocolates in all their assorted flavors. Or perhaps try their home made fudge that's hhhhmmm sooo good! And I guarantee you've not tasted a more deletable homemade caramel apple anywhere. All, or any, combination of the aforementioned coupled with a warm hot chocolate is the perfect comfort prescription for a day on the slopes. And yes, if you so choose, grab an ice cream cup as well! Why not? As soon as you walk in you're greeted by an inviting atmosphere and the staff will warmly welcome you in. Stay in and enjoy your chocolate bounty, or leave with a goodie bag - either way you'll be glad you did. Keep doing your thing Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I'll see you every time I visit the magical town of Steamboat Springs, CO.

I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE‼‼…read more It was my first time in Steamboat to celebrate my friend's birthday over the weekend. This shop was our last stop before heading back to Denver. The place was clean, and at first, the owner and wife were amiable and professional, and the service was good. Then, while there, I checked in on Yelp, and another of my friends, and both got a deal (picture posted) that said 50% off of a plain caramel apple. To our surprise, our 50% coupon was not honored because they had never seen anything like that before, and they don't use Yelp to promote their business to provide customer coupons. He seemed unhappy and even asked his wife to take a picture of my coupon. I explained to the owner that sometimes, when I check in to restaurants or other businesses, I get a coupon. Still, he kept repeating that he had never seen it before and added, "Why would he do something of such since he is the one losing money?" and said it more than twice. I replied that it was the first time a business did not honor a coupon from Yelp. Once again, I explained that I always go to Yelp to check in and do reviews about the shop, food, and service. He then changed his attitude and offered to honor it. I said no thank you. I didn't want the poor man to lose four bucks from a caramel apple. The coupon now posted in my photos is showing 25%, but at the time, it was for 50%; it seems it was updated. Never again will I step foot in Rocky Mountain Chocolate, nor will my friends, extended family, and others. I don't recommend this shop! Find a different one. Update! It seems like the owner has been responding to other reviews. Interestingly, they claimed they didn't use Yelp for anything. I see other poor reviews, no wonder why.

My husband and son were skiing for the week to celebrate my husband's birthday. I ordered the basket by phone, and Barbara stayed in touch with me throughout the process until delivery. She even changed the delivery date when my family was not able to get to Vail because of a major storm. They were so surprised and thankful for the snacks when they finally in the Valley tired and hungry. Also, since the snacks were in individual bags, they were able to stuff them in their pockets for a quick pick-me-up while skiing. I recommend that you call Barbara, and she is guaranteed to make your gift-giving so easy!
