So excited to find a used book store in Craig with a great selection. Black Friday was my first time in. Colorful friendly senior staff I found engaging and humorous. Purchased 4 books and looking forward to the entertainment. I have many books from popular authors and after my experience I was looking forward to donating. Being 100 miles from home. I make the trip about once a month. I stopped by this Sat excited to pass the books on so others could enjoy. The owner seemed reluctant when I explained I had brought books that we discussed a few weeks before. It seemed a chore and she was doing me a favor. Despite the change in demeanor from our last meeting I chose to proceed not letting on I was donating and was not going to accept the in-store credit. She seemed unimpressed with cache(3 boxes) but reluctantly offer $40 in store credit. Most books were .50 some were a dollar. My previous visit I spent $40 on 3 books ( good books worth the money) .When I questioned the minimal amount she offered I was informed its all on the website. Then I was informed that the store credit was only good for a week. I was taken back by the change in attitude from our previous encounter. I did take a medium coffee in exchange for the books. This was more than I was planning. I did share with her that I will not be back even though I had thought I found my new favorite spot to get away. No good deed goes unpunished some say. I was so excited about the donation and in the end I felt used. This will be the last time I think about this and am looking forward to finding my next favorite place but will think twice before engaging beyond just being a customer. Fantastic book store in Craig. All the prices for books were extremely good, cheaper than any bookstore I've seen in a while, they also have good coffee and atmosphere. Got an oat milk mocha and had no complaints! Had great chats with all the employees and even the owner, would recommend to anyone. read more

Was visiting friends in Craig for several days. Considering your options are limited in Craig and I didn't want to support Starbucks which I can get anywhere I tried Downtown Books for my latte fix. Latte was good and I even bought a book too! Ha! Service was casual and friendly. read more

Downtown books is a Craig institution. It's a cozy bookshop on the main drag that makes the best coffee in town. Steamboat Roasters beans, my local favorite. Free wifi. Broad selection of books, new and used. Handmade cards and gifts. Terry, the sage Mayor of Craig, is the owner. If you're in luck, he'll be in and will catch you up on all the local goings-on while he makes your latte. read more

Great place to stop by and break up a long trip. We stopped by Downtown Bookstore on our way to WY for coffee and a bathroom break. The iced coffee and espresso were good but even better, we picked up a few books to read on our long drive. These are used books so prices were good and the shop has a quaint charm. Liane Davis-Kling, the owner, is friendly and we enjoyed a short chat with her. read more

Wow this store has such a warm and friendly atmosphere to read, sip the local roasted coffee, and chat with locals. So glad it is not a commercial coffee institute but a good cup of java! If they don't have your book they can order it for you. Lots of old books for Sale too. read more

I work nearby and had my little sister run in to grab a coffee and the employee was extremely rude with her. She made sarcastic remarks at her the entire time and when my sister asked for a Caramel Macchiato, the lady rudely told her "okay, this isn't Starbucks." I have never been to a coffee shop that didn't make macchiatos? She then directed her to the menu (which is not posted) and told her she could order a caramel latte. I love to support local business but I will never step foot into this place again. Please don't cry about supporting local business and then treat your customers like trash. Save yourself the trouble and go to Mudd Shack or Starbucks. read more

Wonderful place. Good selection of local interest books, full coffee bar, lots of crafts/art from locals...just an awesome place and you can often find the city's mayor manning the counter. read more
