Our fifth Sweetcombe Cottage & it certainly merited it's 5 star rating; newly refurbished with top notch decoration, furniture & fittings. Sweetcombe's 'customer care' sadly fell a long way short of this when we reported a small but very inconveniencing problem. Appalling & disgraceful would be more apt. Reported badly leaking washing machine immediately on second day of our stay to be told someone would be in attendance. By sixth day had heard nothing. Not a call, a text, or caller to cottage. On re-contacting Tracey the owner, was variously told 'will get to bottom of this', 'will have words with engineer about non attendance', 'he's been & diagnosed problem', 'awaiting part', 'it's never happened before' (why would I phone otherwise?). Fortuitously I was in when, an hour later an engineer appeared, a very nice gentleman who was able to prove at his pleasure (email from Sweetcombe on his phone) that he had only been contacted by Sweetcombe an hour earlier! Seems the owner Tracey had been less than honest then? When I suggested a gesture of goodwill might be appropriate from Sweetcombe for the inconvenience of being without the washing & drying facilities for 5 days of our 7 day stay, which we'd paid for, it was inferred that I had made too much of it. I was told it was only 4 days as the Monday was a bank holiday and that didn't count. Does if I'm paying for it. Clearly I was an inconvenience to Sweetcombe! If nothing goes wrong, you'll be fine. If it does, expect lies, ineptitude, ignorance & a complete lack of integrity; indeed anything but the most basic service you deserve. Property owners note; this agency cares not a jot if your ceiling falls in, so long as they're getting their percentage! PS Agent also, and unlawfully, entered house unannounced, without knocking / ringing or phoning much to the surprise of our small son. I'm appalled. Look elsewhere. 1 star as it won't allow me zero. read more
