Sweet Tooth Scoops is one of three ice cream shops along Barrie Street in Thornton. I was told that they all do well, how? They get fans from the hockey games next door at the skating rink, the many tourists that take a pit stop as they travel to Barrie, and construction workers from the surrounding areas.
What makes SWS special is that they have a 60's vibe with decor and music, they sell delicious Kawartha ice cream, and the owners also own the pizza joint in the back (Ref's Pizza).
Lots of flavors to choose from: Interesting ones like Moose Tracks, Tiger, Wolf's Paws, Bear Claw, Banana Boat and Heavenly Hash. After sampling, I went with the ever popular Bordeaux Cherry. It was creamy, full of flavor and packed with delicious cherries.
Cannot forget to mention the small town feel and the warm hospitality of the staff, who happens to be the daughter of the owners. Marina was ever so helpful in guiding me through my choices and also filling me in on the area. A great pit stop during the warm months (they close for the season in November) on your way up north. read more
