a plate of dumplings and a bowl of soup

This place has the best Chinese. I am new to the area and this is a hidden gem. I recommend the steamed pork dumplings and the chicken fingers

The General Tso chicken (my barometer) was good. Rice was good too. I would eat here again. My 3 star rating are for two things, 1 was time of order. I ordered at 12:15 and got my lunch order at 12:35. It was not busy. Two people working. The other loss of a star was that the cashier did a health code violation, after working the register, he went back to cutting food in the back w/o washing hands. Money is dirty!

Extra spicy General Tso! They should call this place "Spicy Rice" instead!

Ya know, sometimes the hole in the walls are the best. There is nothing sweet about "Sweet Rice" and that's exactly how I like it. I've been eating Chinese food for a good nineteen - twenty year now, and this is the FIRST time my General Tso has actually come into battle extra spicy. I always ask for extra spicy. ALWAYS. Sweet Rice did it. Their General Tso won the war with my taste buds as the only causality. The only thing I would change is instead of "Sweet Rice" I'd call it "Spicy Rice"

This is the best Chinese food in the area. The places in colchester do not compare. Swear Rice never lets me down!

I ordered roast pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs. Simple and delicious. I also got the edamame which came plain or possibly lightly salted - either way I put my roasted garlic blend on them at home. They seemed fresh and popped at the right time if you know what I mean. The rice wasn't full of the usual stuff you see in a lot of like foods around here. That stuck out to me. The boneless spare ribs weren't dripping in sauce which was nice. They also were also not dried out the next day for leftovers. I'd say this place is def worthy of the high reviews they've received lately! Seems unassuming from the outside- a bit smoky inside but not the burning smoky- a stir fry smoky!

Designed to be wolfed down over a bed of soft rice. The kind of place I THOUGHT I'd have no trouble finding in New York City, but which my husband and I actually make a special point of ordering from every time I come home to where I grew up. Vegetarian? Get the Szechuan bean curd. It's pillowy fried tofu in a spicy sauce, accompanied by all kinds of steamed vegetables. Their General Tso's tofu is generally the same thing, but no vegetables. I wish they had scallion pancakes, because I know they would kill those too. The veggie fried rice is great. My mom swears by the hot and sour soup and Mongolian beef. Come to their unassuming storefront with $35, leave with two entrees, two apps, and that sweet feeling that you got exactly what you wanted.

I can't tell you what the inside of the restaurant looks like; we always order to-go, I drive and my partner runs inside to pick it up. He's described it as a "big kitchen behind a counter" so there is likely minimal seating, if any. What I can say is they are always kind and helpful on the phone. They understand what you're asking for (I've been to places where they just want you to list off the item #s from the menu), will answer questions, and even sometimes clarify what you're asking for (my fav is the chicken chow mei fun and they always make sure I know it comes with the thin "spaghetti" noodles (they say that, but it's really thin rice noodles)). The chow mei fun does not contain as many greens as I like (contains shredded carrot, onion, mung bean sprouts, and bamboo shoots) so I always add a package of steamed peas to it which makes the quantity of the food large enough for 2 meals. The egg and chicken in it are plentiful and delicious. My partner goes with the combo General Tso's chicken which comes with an egg roll and pork fried rice, which he loves. I did try crab rangoon from here recently and was not enchanted; it was like a fried pocket full of hot cream cheese. Overall a consistently good to-go dining experience at a fair price. Simple, but good, Chinese food.

As I slid into the seat it felt a little rough. Noticed that the smooth cushion that's expected was actually well worn and cracked making it a little uncomfortable. I did notice some other booths were the same so they really should invest in renovating the seat cushions. S far as getting served and the food: service was very quick. Soup and salad came out right away. Appetizers were quick and the entrees were cooked and served quick. So that part was great. Salas had a little more dressing than I expected compared from similar places. But it was good, as was the soup. Surprised they served the soup with a metal utensil, normally the Asian places use a wooden spoon. The Ichiban roll was delicious. A little pricey for a roll though. We had the Hibachi combination dinners. One steak with shrimp and the other steak with scallops. Tasty dishes, but the scallops could have used s as touch more searing and seasoning.

We had the won ton soup which tasted like a can of beef consommé with some hard tiny dumplings floating in it. The Szechuan chicken lunch was practically inedible. It was a mound of gooey onion and pepper slices in a glue-like sauce. The fried rice tasted like yesterday's leftovers and the spring roll had no flavor. The other dish we ordered was the sesame shrimp which did have nice sized shrimp and large pieces of broccoli. That seemed to be more flavorful. Our server was very sweet and accommodating but unfortunately, we won't return.
