Sweet Pea Catamaran and her crew were awesome. Rave reviews from our group of 9. My wife is a bit of a worrier and doesn't really groove on small boats, but she loved Captain Pat and we all felt very safe and well taken care of. The captain is a salty old guy who likes to tell jokes and old sailing stories and he clearly knows what he's doing. He loves to sail, not just turn on the engine and go, so we got to see him, his wife Staci and their helper Melissa in action with the sails and they were all really good at it.
The sail to St John on a very windy day was so fun. We snorkeled off of some pristine beaches on St John and saw around 8-10 turtles, a stingray, conch, eels, held lots of starfish and for the ultimate - saw a 4 foot nurse shark! Never knew my wife could walk on water until she saw that shark. The shark was harmless and was even more scared of her than she was of it. It was an absolutely immaculate day of snorkeling, our best ever, and we've snorkeled all over the Caribbean. The captain snorkels with you and helps point out everything.
The boat had an open bar and Melissa would make whatever you wanted to drink including bloody marys and rum punch. There was a large cooler full of water, soft drinks and beers. Staci is a very friendly lady and wonderful hostess, and is a French trained chef. She had a lovely plate of fruit and sweet bread ready for us when we embarked in the morning and made a wonderful lunch of Thai grilled chicken salad with shrimp and peanut sauce plus dessert while we snorkeled. There's a stand up paddle board to use and lots of noodles to help the weaker swimmers float. If you don't want to snorkel, they'll take you to a beach or just sail you around - your choice.
Can't rave about these folks enough! They had us back to our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare and I suspect they would have spent more time sailing with us if we hadn't had a deadline to return. If you've ever wished you had a best friend with a boat, spend the day with Pat, Staci and Melissa (and their awesome dog Jeep!) and you'll feel right at home. read more
