Our group of 12 girls used On the Sea for a boat day during my bachelorette. It was easily the best day while we were visiting. The weather was not the best but we had a blast. Capt. Mike was wonderful, he showed us many places around the island, letting us snorkel, stopping at lime out and pizza pi. This is not my first time with On the Sea but, a lot of my girls first time. We've used On the Sea a number of times and always had a great time. We've always asked for Antonio as our captain but were entertained by captain Andy this time. He was fun and easy going. Pick-up and communication is always smooth and easy. Picking our route to always include Pizza Pi is a favorite. We love getting recommendations for spots that are not so popular with the tourists. My girlfriends and I had a fabulous day on the 9 lives with Captain Mike. he was not only great at handling the boat, but he took excellent care of us. He was a wealth of information on the island, and the history, and many other things that we enjoyed hearing about. He took us to multiple great spots for snorkeling, sea turtles, migrating starfish and lots of jellyfish. He even took pictures without being prompted while we were enjoying lunch at the Lime In. Our family had the best time out with Captain Nate! He was really fun and accommodating. Nate made it fun for our 2 kids too (5 and 10) he knew the best snorkeling spots. We swam with sea turtles, spotted a dozen sting rays, and went to a handful of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The boat had bean bags, a unicorn mask (hilarious) and a mermaid tail they let our 5 year old try out. She was in heaven. Reasonable price and awesome experience. I booked a full day trip for two couples with on the sea charters. Captain Mike took us over to the BVI. Such a great time! Captain Mike was as efficient and professional as he was laid back! We did two snorkel stops, one on the way to, and one on the way back from the BVI. On Jost Van Dyke we had a drink at Foxy's, then moved on to the Soggy Dollar Bar where we stayed for a good while. Even though I booked this trip a month in advance, Ryan called several days before our outing to see if we could reschedule due to an inclement weather forecast. He listened to the kind of day we wanted and we were in his hands. Took us to off the beaten path for great snorkeling and gave us interesting facts throughout. We had Captain Holly for the day and she was AWESOME!!! We toured St. John island and she took us to all of the great snorkel spots and a floating Taco bar for lunch. What an AMAZING time! I researched at painful lengths to find the best time that we could with a charter company. We found "On the Sea" through word of mouth from a friend in New Orleans, and after seeing 0 reviews on them anywhere, we were a little skeptical. THAT all changed when I contacted Captain Ryan, and he emailed me with detailed questions about the group, what we were looking for, and our personalities...genius! He knew exactly the dynamics of the group, and handled all of our BIG personalities like a mental magician. Here's my review: 1. Detailed oriented. He gives you a very specific list of things that you will do, and then he gives you the option to throw it all away and let him take you to his "playground" - recommend 2. His boat "Nine Lives" is very new, holds up to 8, fast, and we cranked up our music through his Bluetooth and never blew the speakers out! 3. Captain Ryan - you know the dude that everyone knows and loves? That's Ryan. He looks every bit of the ocean loving surfer dude, and is completely laid back to fit the stereotype too. We went to 4 different islands, and EVERY local knew Ryan, and kept hugging him or coming over to chat with him - that speaks volumes! - he's SO knowledgable about the BVIs and USVI! He knew the history of the islands, back stories, and who owns what and where which made for great celebrity gossip! 3. He took us to snorkeling spots where no one went, and it was beautiful, and we could just explore without large crowds of people swimming around you. We wanted to see sharks, and he brought us to an area where you could see baby black fins...I didn't see any but the idea was cool. 4. He is extremely FAIR and REASONABLE about his pricing. We booked the full day fare for $650, but decided to change our trip to start at 10:30am to watch the sunset on the ocean. He explained that his day tour started at 8:30-4pm, and that if we wanted to add a sunset ride it would be an additional $250...it was worth it. We were out with him from 10:30 - 7:30. No one was sober, but everyone was happy. All together our trip cost approx $165 per person including gas, tax, and tip. We did want to go to the BVI side so customs cost $45 cash, and bring your passports. The competition for charter companies are fierce here in the islands, what makes On the Sea Charters and Captain Ryan so unique is that he really wants you to have a good time. There's no rushing, or agenda with him, there's only fun times, happy hours, and the beauty of Mother Nature around you. Trust me, he's one of a kind. read more
