"Giving this place one more try was clearly a mistake - what a waste of time."
If I wasn't done with this place before, I am now. I previously reviewed this salon (when they were at Clovis & Herndon) before they moved to this location. That was a one star review and this one is, as well.
I said in my previous review that I would never go to this nail salon again, but I decided to give them one more chance because of one person: my best friend (let's call her Emily for confidentiality purposes). Emily is getting married and swears by Macy and will only get her gel nails done by Macy so, to spend some quality time with Emily I decided to accompany her and see if maybe, just maybe, I could be proven wrong in my previous review. It seems that I was proven absolutely correct.
Right when Emily and I sat down, Hoi and Macy began to talk to my best friend; Hoi immediately said, "Oh, you came with your friend last time right? She did us dirty, she reviewed." I sat there with wide eyes. I didn't want to feel embarrassed, but wouldn't you in that situation? Don't get me wrong, I am completely unapologetic for my previous review (and this one as well) because it was and remains the absolute truth. If you read my previous review, you will discover that because of this salon's mistakes, I was forced to not only spend $60 in getting new acrylics (from a different salon as I was in Ohio), but waste several hours of my vacation, some of that time spent removing Sweet Nails' shoddy acrylic work. I did them dirty? Excuse me? If they had done my acrylics correctly the first time, not only would I have had no reason to leave them a negative review, but more importantly I would have gotten to spend quality time with my family in Ohio that I will NEVER get back. Emily quickly tried to cover for me, saying that it was her other friend who had left the review and not me. I don't think they realized I was the girl who had left the review until halfway through the manicure and pedicure appointment when they started conversing in their language and all three of the workers began to be cold and indifferent towards me. I was trying to be extra nice only for Emily's sake and so I could enjoy these last few times that I spend with her before she gets married and moves away, but the appointment was absolutely ruined for me. As a customer, it is not my job or obligation to provide the customer service.
I want to make sure to note that I come from a business background: my family owns businesses and we pride ourselves in our customer service relations and the ability to provide comfortable and welcoming environments for our customers to shop in. As a customer, I don't expect the royal treatment, but I do expect professionalism and at the very least a semblance of maturity, two things this salon severely lacks.
The coup de grâce comes after we had left the salon. I was assured that my toe nails had dried; frustratingly, this was not the case. Before long, I looked down to see both of my toe nails were completely and utterly smudged, the polish moved around to the edges. To say I was pissed is an understatement; not so much at the polish being ruined, but at the fact that I was forced to return to this place.
When I walked in, I'm not going to lie, the woman who had done my pedicure was nice in fixing the smudges and made sure to remind me to be extra careful. I don't mind that she told me to be extra careful because at least now she wasn't lying in saying, "okay you're fine they're dry." Once we left the salon I made sure to keep my toes as safe as possible. However, after about 20 minutes of walking, I looked down to see that I had an indentation in the polish and when I woke up the next morning and actually examined my toes, my polish had a completely bumpy texture because when she "fixed" the polish she just glopped more of it on and finished it off with another heavy layer of top coat. Now I'm stuck with these God awful toes until next month when I get my nails done once more for a family event because I just don't have the time or money right now, as a college student, to keep fixing this salon's mistakes.
Thank you, Sweet Nails, for not only making me feel bullied and singled out in your salon when I was willing to give you another chance and become a repeat customer, but also for absolutely ruining one of the last experiences that I share with my best friend before she gets married and moves away. She will continue to come to your salon when she is in town, but I'll support her from afar as I refuse to give you any more of my time or my money to pay for your services and especially to pay to FIX YOUR WORK, as I have had to do repeatedly.
*Note: for those of you inquiring as to whether the reviews of this salon are genuine, let me say this: well before our appointment was over, Macy repeatedly asked my best friend to post a photo and leave a positive review, even advising Emily on what to write. Take from that what you will. read more
