It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! The steak fingers were absolutely huge, and the grilled vegetables and steamed broccoli were just fantastic. Nothing is better than a steak finger dipped in a big old bowl of white homemade gravy! I was only able to eat half, so there was definitely leftovers. And since I was so full, that means dessert had to be to go. Most places now charge seven or eight dollars for a piece of cake. The service was good, the food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was perfect. But I judge a place the same way I judge a hotel, by the bathroom. The seat was clean. The seat was dry, which you don't find very often. There was plenty of toilet paper. And the latch on the stall worked perfectly. At that point, I realized I had found a five star bathroom. So I sat there a little longer to enjoy the peace and quiet and ate another gummy. While contemplating life, I noticed some writing on the stall wall. It said. "If you want the job done right, call Martha." I thought, Well, Martha sounds confident. So I decided to give her a call. Turns out it wasn't Martha. It was Bob's Plumbing. So I gave the place four stars. They really need to occasionally verify the phone numbers written on the stall walls. Although, honestly, after that bathroom inspection, I'd trust Bob with the plumbing.
