The sweets here were very good but very expensive. One of the sweets were 2£ so for 3 was 6€. They are very good and the staff are friendly but it was very expensive and I'm dont mind splurging on thing but this wasn't it.

I had been waiting for something other than a cafe to open up at this wonderful spot. After walking past the signs for Sweet Bob for a few days I finally had a chance to check them out a day after they opened. The owners are really friendly and full of excitement about their 'Brigadeiros'. They are little balls of deliciousness and you almost want to eat a few of them at once, except that you end up taking mini bites just because they're so creamy and full of flavor. It's hard for me to describe without enticing you to go buy a few I had 4 - caipirinha, white chocolate, dark chocolate, and the lemon. My favorite, of course, was the dark chocolate. You get a little cardboard tray with nice unique quotes on each one, fill them up with the sweets, and then just enjoy. The prices are a bit high - €2 on average for a single flavor but this is one of those treats you buy for yourself when you deserve it. On top of the Brigadeiros, they also have cakes, coffee, and other stuff. You can also watch them make new ones. There's a little bench outside to sit. The interior is nice. The owners friendly. Welcome to my neighborhood, Bob!

The brigadeiro is a Brazilian born chocolate. The mere sound of the word brigadeiro makes Brazilians like my friend Fabiano from São Paulo drool. And right so. This sweetie, a.k.a. the Brazilian truffle, is extremely rich and creamy. It's made from condensed milk, cocoa powder and butter and is covered with chocolate sprinkles. One bite and you're hooked. Since the beginning of July this chocolate drug is available at Sweet Bob. The first brigadeiro brand in town is run by three Brazilians. They created the concept for their own brigadeiro shop in São Paulo and were determined to launch this in Amsterdam. 'We just love the people, architecture and lifestyle of this city.' During my first visit to their store they almost blew me away with their enthusiasm, Brazilian charm and their chocolates in dozens of flavours. The original brigadeiro, the milk chocolate one, is great, but don't forget to try the other versions, such as the ones with dark chocolate, pistachio and coconut. They are made to match with the coffee they serve. Have I already told you they sell superb chocolate cake too and a divine ice tea from Rio? Sweet Bob is a place that really made my heart jump and I'm pretty sure it will make your heart skip a beat too.

Before I get into the shop itself, The wife and I need to note the owner and hostess. She is, without a doubt, the nicest person we've ever encountered in any shop, restaurant or store. She truly cares about her wares, and seems to care in turn about your experience and that you be happy while you are there; if anyone ever earns the designation "hostess" it is her. For lack of a better descriptive, she is grandmotherly in the best way. My wife would insist (and I would agree) to give this shop five stars based on her service alone, even if the shop was drab and the chocolates mediocre. Fortunately, neither is the case. The chocolates are universally excellent and artisinally produced. She sells them in packaged form to take with you and savor in your home; however she also prepares a hot chocolate for you to enjoy in the shop or on the go, and it is incredibly rich without being too sweet. While not exactly inexpensive, it is also more than in-line with high end chocolates in Europe. What about the store itself? Well, the sense that our hostess belongs in a Harry Potter book as a kindly, magical shopkeeper is enhanced by the store's appearance. It radiates warmth as it is filled with chocolate-related antiques and knickknacks, charming designed displays and shelves overstuffed with quaintly designed sweets packaging. But make no mistake: the shop itself is meticulously clean and neat. As you can tell, I and my wife could gush about this shop for a long while. But I'll leave you with: go visit and say hello.

When I mentioned to Debbie that I lived nearby the store she said, "that's dangerously close." That wasn't a tease nor a threat but an observation and she was right and knew it. She did say that with a grin on her face... So.....I had to check this out. Sure enough Debbie's excitement and enthusiasm for chocolate I could feel from outside as I gazed upon her grin from outside the store. It's a small boutique shop on a backstreet in the Jordaan area near the 9 streets on what is considered the 10th street in addition to the 9 streets. It has all different kinds of chocolate in all the nooks and crannies as well as books about chocolate interspersed throughout. There is a coffee machine/espresso machine and.....they offer tasters. Yep yep they sure do....tasters, samples....There is a long table with seats where they hold tasting sessions for groups, prearranged for 8-11 people with a choice on what kind of chocolate, be it dark, milk chocolate or whatever. They also have tasting events that they advertise via their newsletter. You can sign up for the newsletter on their website. It's hard not to get excited about chocolate when you are in the company of people whose passion and love for it is so strong and so pure. I'm envious. Debbie had me fascinated with how much she knew and how deep her passion is for chocolate. It's truly amazing. I wanted to know more and had/have myriad questions but didn't want to take up her time. She was only too glad to answer my questions. She more than answered my questions with an impressive fluidity of knowledge.Being expert in her subject she was excited that someone else was interested to hear about and learn more. I'll just have to stop in more often to ask more questions and to learn more. I love having such a cool store so near to hang out at and to enjoy some chocolate along with an enthusiastic person sharing interesting information about it. Huge kudos to the owners of the store and to Debbie! I'll be back.

The store portion has a large table with samples of nearly all of the bars. We sampled almost all of them -- what, we should just guess what they taste like?! (Usability note: the glass bottles that house the samples are not ideal; the opening is small and you can easily imagine a number of hands and fingers touching the spot where the samples come out.) In the back of the shop is, from what we could tell, their main factory, and they were busy churning out chocolates. Plus, near the register, there are chocolates by the pound. Yes, we got one of those as well. As we explored other shops in the city, we saw other chocolates and realized that Urban Cacao does white label production for many of them. Some of those stores had lower prices (and different options) than at the main shop we visited, but the selection and variety of flavors makes this a must-visit location.
