We initially spoke with several other planners, but after our first call with Kimberly, we knew we wanted her to be the one helping us plan our event this past October in Sonoma. We insisted that Kimberly was our go-to with ASE. ASE has several levels of planning packages depending on what you are looking for. My Husband and I decided to go with the partial planning package and it was the perfect balance for us. We are from the Chicagoland area so having a planner in California where we were getting married was essential. Kimberly is also well-connected in wine country/the wedding industry and has relationships with many of the vendors who ASE has worked with over the years. This is a major perk, since she was able to point us in the direction of some of the best vendors out there! We always felt like we were in the right hands and were provided high quality recommendations by Kimberly. Throughout the past year of planning with Kimberly she was always kind and had such a positive attitude. Aside from being our wedding planner, Kimberly felt like a friend. Not only did we hear from several of our vendors how much they loved working with Kimberly and how organized she was, even several of our friends asked who she was because they noticed how on top of everything she was at the wedding. Everyone tells you how stressful wedding planning can be, especially since our entire planning process was virtual and during covid, but ours was carefree and fun! If something did go wrong, it was nothing made known or visible to either us or any of our guests. She was always reachable, responding promptly to emails and hopping on calls whenever we needed her. On the day itself, Sarah's efforts were nothing short of heroic. The groom and I got ready at two different locations in different cities, and yet she managed to check in on both of us before heading to the ceremony venue. Despite a tight window in the ceremony space, everything ran exactly on schedule, and she even made room for extras like a rose petal toss and extended group photos we didn't think our timeline could fit. Her team of assistants was equally polished, professional, and kind. At one point, a piece of applique fell off my dress, and I assumed it was lost for good after we'd moved between several locations. But because Sarah's team had swept every space we'd visited and kept the bags, she tracked it down so we could reattach it - the kind of diligence you'd expect from a crime scene investigator, let alone a wedding coordinator! Sarah had also agreed to transport our ceremony florals to the reception, but she went well beyond that, making sure the entire reception space was set up flawlessly. All day, she carried a "no job too small" attitude, and did it all with a smile. Our only regret is that we didn't hire her for the whole day. To give some context, we recently celebrated our son's first birthday (which is a huge event in our culture) and the initial meetings with Erin were spot on. After our initial "idea board" meeting I couldn't stop smiling because the details she had said she would bring to the party were so cute and unique and I couldn't wait to see them brought to life on the big day. Throughout the planning process she was extremely responsive, detail oriented, kind and just awesome in all ways. We also threw her the curveball of working with the schedule of two small children with their naps and she approached it with calm and flexibility. I should also mention that I'm an extremely picky and detail oriented person and lets say I put the "A" in type A personality and am a perfectionist so my expectations are always high. Having said this, on the day of the event the party's timeline, vendors, organizational details, logistics went smoothly. However there were a couple of items that we had discussed at the initial "idea board" that didn't happen and unfortunately they were related to significant cultural and family tradition aspects of the event so suffice to say I was saddened and frankly a bit shocked on what had happened. Mind you that the guests had an awesome time and it was a magical party and no one else noticed except mama bear. Usually at this point it would go downhill with most vendors, but I'm someone who likes to ask people "what happened" when things don't go according to expectations so I contacted Erin. First off, I could tell she was deeply affected and saddened and took it to heart that the event had not met my expectations. What I found impressive was her passion and heart in this party was genuine and she took it personally that I wasn't completely happy. Additionally, at no time was she defensive or coming up with excuses. She listened and asked without prompting "what can I do" and understood where I was coming from. We ended up doing a redo of the missing elements and while not a replacement for what I had wished happened at the party, it ended up being perfect. Additionally her professional conduct, authenticity as an overall sweetheart of a person and personal investment in her events speaks volumes. So would I use Erin again? In a heartbeat yes! If it wasn't clear, she has the most amazing style and taste that really is unique and personal. My husband is the rustic, natural type and I'm the whimsical, styled, elegent type and she was able to combine both. I also know that we ALL make "boo boos" for one reason or another and sometimes things happen and I know I wouldn't want to be defined by something that didn't go quite right. I know that Erin has been in this business since 2008 and based on her other reviews and what I did experience from her she is stellar at what she does but as with all things, sometimes something just falls through the crack and in this case it was some elements from our event. And honestly, I think we were that 1 in a million and any and all future events with Erin would be pefect :) But what defines someone to me is how they react/respond when confronted with it and Erin's response couldn't have been better.
