If you're a lady with an undercut - GO HERE. I found this place on yelp, and I chose to go here because of the bad review . Clearly that dude was a sexist piece of garbage and Misty is a treat. I'm a lady with an undercut and Misty fixed the hack job that great clips did. I had a fun time hanging out before it was my turn and a great convo while I was in the chair. It was cheap (though heads up it's cash only) but I would have paid more. I was worried about going to a barber shop for the first time and now I can't wait to go back. Thanks misty! read more

Katie W is amazing and pays attention to detail!! She educated me on me hair and what it needs to look good everyday !! She actually took the time after the cut to show me how to put in product the right way! I have been doing it all wrong for over 40yrs!!! She is amazing and I am a life time client !! She said she's the men's hair wingman and she is right! Right after I saw her I went out with my buddy's for the night and got so many complements from strangers at the bar!! Took my kiddo here for a trim on no notice. Did not expect the fantastic art all over the place - Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp everywhere, and I have no complaints about either of those guys. The ladies are fantastic and while the kiddo made a great grouchy face, I think he likes his cleaned up new do and I enjoyed the conversation. Been patronizing this business for years. Can't go wrong, love both barbers. Not a foo foo salon but a good old Barber shop!

The only reason I gave this dump 1-Star is because it doesn't go any lower... Went here this a.m. for a simple haircut and found 2 women sitting at a table; no other customers present. I jokingly asked: "Where's the barbers?" They replied they were both "barbers." I said: "Well I was used to male barbers," but what the heck. I was all set to go, seated in the chair, and said: "Well, if you do a good job, I might be back..." Then the older one (presumably the "owner/manager" stated: "We don't want you to come back; we don't want "your kind" in here!" I said, that tears it and left. As I was getting in my car, the one that was going to cut my hair followed me out back and continued to harass me. Plus, they don't even take credit cards!! read more

No one will offer to wash your hair, style your hair, color your hair. Here you will get a good, solid, haircut for a mere $14 -- but bring cash, as they don't accept credit cards or cheques. This is a small, quirky, Mom and Daughter operation. Pop art lines the walls -- much of it, if not all of it, the work of the proprietor. My bottom line: my wife likes the results. I stopped in at Sweeney's when my regular barber shop was closed on Saturday. The shop is very interesting, there are plenty of magazines and Jason really does a great job of cutting hair. Because I travel I am sometimes at the mercy of an unknown haircut so I didn't expect my hair to recover from a bad cut I previously got out of town, but Jason has recovered the damage with just one cut! I recently moved to the Tucson area and quickly discovered there are a lot of barbershops in the area. I went to a couple of places to get a cut before I found Sweeney's, but I was less than impressed. I discovered Sweeney's on Yelp and thought I would give if a chance. This is the best barber shop I've ever been to, in Tucson or otherwise. Unlike most barber shops which look exactly the same, this one is a work of art. You see, the owner, Misty, is an artist and decorates the place with interesting and unusual trinkets and even some of her own paintings and sculptures. The back room is used as a sort of artist studio, where she sculpts and paints in between giving haircuts. I should add that the haircuts here are top notch, too. I keep telling Misty she needs to have her on TV show on the Discovery Channel as this place is totally unique! Great Tucson gem! read more

What a deal. It is only a five minute drive from the Sheraton, and I have never had such an attentive haircut for $10. Jason really took his time and made sure he cut my hair just like I wanted it. It looked like a total amateur had just cut my hair. I paid the bill and left, never to return. They know what they're doing!!! Sadly, my first and only haircut here was yesterday as I'm relocating out of state. My hair is exactly how I like it and the barber did a phenomenal job. We went in for a haircut and we were the only people there. The barber told us that he doesn't do long hair. That's ok, we don't have long hair. No, he doesn't cut hair, making a cutting motion with his fingers, he never learned how, he said. Oh, I finally got it, he just does buzz cuts, he's not a barber at all, just a guy. Misty and Jason are great barbers and great people. I love this place. Definitely out of the ordinary. Funky art and attitudes, great conversations, and to top it all off they give the best haircuts in town. Very attentive to detail. I used to dread having to take time out of my day to get my hair cut, but since I started going to Misty's (10 + years now) I actually really look forward to it. Sweeney's at one point used to be a great place for haircuts. Misty who I believe owns or co owns the place gives great cuts. I can't speak for the other stylist there. Here are the reason's I won't be back. 1. No appointments 2. They won't answer phones to see if a certain stylist is available so you don't waste your time driving over there. 3. Hours of operation are erratic. I have showed up before during the normal business hours and found the place locked down. After calling and calling, I finally get someone to answer on there cell phone. I am told we're on a long lunch and have a few things going and won't be in until nearly an hour and a half later. Business hours are generally posted for a good reason. Customers don't wish to come to locked doors. I realize having your own business comes with a few scheduling perks, but you still need to run the place like a business and make schedules out for coverage. Everyone needs a lunch but they seem to just close and reopen whenever. Today I tried one last time to give them a chance. I find one barber and 3 people waiting. The rest of the shop was a row of empty chairs. He has no idea if and when Misty or anyone else is coming in. Not a professional atmosphere to say the least. So good luck getting your hair cut. It's hit and miss at Sweeney's. read more
