First of all I have…read moremy own optometrist, but because of a change in my insurance (Medicare) and this optometrist is close to home, accepted my insurance, and my out of pocket was minimal. All I wanted was to use my own frames, and get new eyeglass lenses. What I thought was a simple procedure, ended up to be a NIGHTMARE !!!! Mind you, I dropped off my eyeglasses on October 29th at 1:45pm and after numerous excuses... such as your prescription is difficult, or it will be ready next week, they still need more time, the lenses didn't pass inspection, and long waiting times on the phone to check the status of my glasses, I was at my wits end!!!! Whatever lab they use to make their patients eyeglasses, I would definitely recommend that your office select a different lab if you things cannot be completed in a timely manner. If you're looking to get glasses made, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND YOU GET THEM MADE HERE!!! It is December 18th, 9 am, and I called the office to check on the status of my eyeglasses and they were actually ready! I was surprised they I didn't call, being that my glasses were long overdue! I went to pick it up, and was given my glasses and a receipt. Isn't it usually protocol that someone would have you try on your glasses and make sure it fit properly, and adjust it if necessary? NOTHING!! Disappointing and absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! *Granted there were some office staff that were helpful and sensed my frustration, and I knew it was out of their control. Dr. Nakagawa, it seems like your reviews indicate that you're a nice guy, and I'm sure you must be, but please do better with getting your eyeglass labs to be more accurate and timely. Dr Teal was so patient during her exam and adapted to her communication style by simplifying directions. It was a relief to know she didn't inherit my bad eyes and that she's on track for a child her age. My daughter's favorite part of the appointment was getting to look inside the treasure box post exam! There's so many things for the littles to choose from. The front desk is also a standout. Everyone is so personable and friendly. They make it a point to address everyone by name, which is quite impressive! This is such a positive and uplifting environment. The appointment + wait time took 45min for a follow up dilation for me, and an initial exam for my 3yr old and my 10mo old. I left the office feeling so relieved because I know about my babies eye health! I have no regrets and I don't think this is too early for a checkup. All of our visits are so informative & enjoyable. My husband's family eye doctor is Dr. Makini here at eyes plus, and so I came in. He and his staffs attention to detail before, during, and after my exam, helped me to have a clear understanding of why I could be experiencing headaches. He also went into detail about children's connection with ADHD and possible eye issues and how many doctors misdiagnose children. The coolest part was also that he uses VR technology to test your eyesight. Not gonna lie that was pretty fun lol After my exam, I learned that I was farsighted and needed glasses. His daughter and assistant Alexis, was so helpful in assisting me with finding lenses that match my style, comfort, and insurance budget. She fully explained the out of pocket cost and was transparent with me from the start. It's been 3 weeks now since I've had my glasses, and although I've needed an adjustment, Dr. Makini is so eager to help me find what works. Not to mention, his staff are so great at working around your schedule for appointments. If you're not comfortable with calling, you can actually text them and they respond right away. This location is tucked in the corner of a building next to a vet center and behind the Jack n Box and Gas station. There are lots of parking but can be busy depending on the time of day you have your appointment. Friendly staff. I'm glad I came here. I usually go to LensCrafters for my eyes but since I didn't need to get special priced or higher brand glasses I decided to go here instead. They have a limited brand selection to choose from. But went with some Ray Bans that were very similar in style to the current ones I had (Versace). I'm glad I was able to get a second pair of eye glasses and more glad no changes to my eye health. This month however, because I have an FSA account that still has a balance in it, if not used by the end of this year, I will lose it. I went to see them for newer contacts and eyeglass prescriptions and was a bit impatient when they hadn't called me back for contact lens fitting or my eyeglass prescription exam. However, when I did call to find out why, they were still waiting on right eye contacts to arrive and they went ahead and scheduled a same day appointment for eyeglass exam with no hassle and I appreciated it very much! The exams they administer have been thorough and precise, in fact, when I was experiencing eye allergies and dryness, they had me reschedule so that their exam is done properly weeding out all possibilities of other issues making their exam an accurate one. They are informative about what my insurance covers and what will be charged before services are rendered so you're not automatically obligated to pay upfront and before knowing what you owe! I notice many other places don't care and just render services then bill you later after the fact and without letting you know what you will be charged. I called…read moreahead of time just to see if they took my insurance and also what I needed since this would be our first time getting prescription glasses here for my youngest daughter. Customer service on the phone was great so I knew they would be great when we go in person. I think one of the workers was about ready to leave as she was just about closing up for her shift but she still wanted to help me. The optician, Vernon, ended up calling me over to help assist us. Since we were new patients, he had to enter all of our information first which didn't take too long at all. My daughter already picked up her glasses of choice beforehand so everything else came easy. Thank you Vernon for your wonderful customer service. He was also the only one there so please be patient if you do only see one employee at the vision center.
