I would like to give this salon a good review as they are good with haircuts, and Phillip did great with my one daughter's hair, but unfortunately, because of them not listening and the hairstylist Shannon completely ignoring what I told her in complete and total detail I have to give this salon a one star for utterly disappointing us. When we met with Shannon, it was like everything was rushed. She scheduled us at the end of the day when clearly they didn't want to do any kind of extra above and beyond customer service and so it wasn't even an option for my daughter to have her hair blow dried because she looked at it and said that "would take her too long " so already not very happy about that. I explained to her that I want my daughter to have a very big AHA blonde highlighted hair look with tons of blonde and I wanted them to be pretty big so you could be able to tell because her hair was wavy. She agreed and said they would have to be very big so you could tell I stated this several times in detail that I wanted to be able to tell and that we wanted it to be very, very obvious what we did. Fast-forward to the end of the service that was completely rushed. Her hair was soaking wet when we left because she didn't want to take the time to blow dry it completely or do any type of styling because they were closing, and then she asked me if there was any concerns when she was done, which I then stated yeah of course you can't tell anything was done, which is exactly what we told you we didn't want to happen in the first place. She then scheduled her for a touchup of color for the next weekend when we had availability, but that is honestly not good enough at this point , we were charged for the service that I didn't even feel like I received which is absolutely crazy. If she was not confident in textured hair, she should've never took the appointment because I explained this when I called to set the appointment, also if she was not up the task of doing thicker highlights. She should've also stated that before we started! She wasn't rude or she wasn't mean but completely not listening to what we said that we wanted and I speak in detail so there was no room for error ;she simply did not want to do the work, Which is fine, but then have a different stylist take the job if it is too big for you. I would come here again to visit Phillip, but Shannon completely lost my trust and confidence that she can even do the job that was asked of her because clearly I shouldn't be coming back for her to fix something she should've done in the first place. She also said once it dries, we'll be able to tell more. I feel bad writing this because my stylist was very nice but this is the worst haircut I have ever had. I wanted some length taken off and a full highlight. My hair is fried. It was coming off in chunks on the brush (I was panicking inside). There was nothing I could do at that point. I have only had my hair done 2 other times in 18 months so it wasn't due to over processing on my part. I have very thick hair and I could tell the cut was rushed. I left with damp hair that I couldn't run my fingers through. There's not a lot a salon owner can do to make it right. I am too embarrassed to go back. I was too embarrassed to say anything. Butchered and burned! What a complete nightmare it has been trying to get my hair highlighted! In September I went to a salon near me and I got highlights and a haircut. My hair turned out very nice. It wasn't as blonde as I wanted but it still looked pretty. I went back in December to get more highlights so that my hair would be more blonde. But instead I ended up with darker hair. The owner was nice enough to refund me my money as she knew that I was very disappointed in the outcome. That is good business. I was going to give the salon one more chance to fix my hair but after waiting over a week for a response to find out availability and be able to schedule an appointment, I decided it's best to go elsewhere. Wednesday night I went to a different salon that I had never been to called Swank. Huge mistake! The girl that did my hair, Britni Paxston, completely damaged and butchered my hair. The appointment was scheduled from 6 PM to 8 PM but I wasn't done until 9 PM. There were several issues during the appointment. She was very rough with me, seemed like she was rushing to try to get me done, when she put me under the heater it was on full force and it was burning the top of my head. Then when she put me under the water to rinse I asked her to use the coldest water possible because my head was on fire. I didn't really want to get a haircut because it was an additional $40 but she said that I had to because my ends were so damaged. She had to use toner in my hair about 3 to 4 different times to get the brassiness out. What I didn't know is that while she was toning my hair multiple times she was darkening it once again. All in all I ended up with dark hair once again and a terrible haircut and damaged hair. I paid a total of $145 plus $30 gratuity. Totaling $175. This is the most I have ever paid to have my hair done. The next day I contacted the owner, Miranda Vinyard, and explained to her what happened. She told me that I could come back in and have my hair redone, "same service", at no cost. She had me come back in that night to speak with her husband, Nate, so that he can take a look at my hair and we can discuss what's going to be done. He made an appointment for me to have my hair re-done at no cost on February 7. However, the next day when I sent Miranda the pictures of what my hair looked like before and after , she got upset and changed her mind and told me that I would not be able to come in to have my hair re-done and fixed. She said I would have to pay for it out of pocket. She completely denied offering me the option to have my hair re-done at no cost. She blocked me from texting her, told me to not email or call, and told me not to come back into the salon. Very disturbing, very unprofessional, and terrible business After reading the other negative posts, I am quite sure the owner will respond by blaming me, the client. That seems to be her pattern. She will claim I want service for free when in fact I paid $175. She will claim that I had been warned that my hair would damaged when in fact I was told by hair my the stylist that she would do her best the get me as blonde as possible, and IF damage occurs I would need a haircut. I was wiling to get a haircut if my hair turned out blonde. But it did not turn out blonde, instead dark and damaged, and still needed to be cut. Oh and by the way, since I left the salon on Wed night, the left side of my neck and behind my earlobe has been icky and super irritated. Not sure if it is a chemical rash or burn from whatever they used on me. Warning! Do not go to Swank Salon! If they mess up your hair they will somehow try to twist it around and blame it on you saying that it's your fault. They will not refund you your money and they will not try to fix your hair. And on top of that they videotape every single service on security cameras. They then try to bully you by saying "I have your service on video." I am so disappointed and appalled by their behavior. Feb 8th update: Look who's stalking my Facebook Page! Wow! The owner of Swank Salon! She is the one that last week blocked me from texting her, told me not to email or call, and told me not to come back to the salon and refused to fix the damage that was done to my hair by her stylist! And as you can see she also threatened me on yelp saying that she would take legal action if I refuse to take down the the review of my horrible experience at her salon. She even said that she contacted the commerce city police department and told them that I refuse to stop contacting her which is so untrue. And now on top of that all, she stocking my Facebook page. Yesterday I was able to get some pictures of all the damage that was done to my hair by Swank Salon. I had to get a major color correction done that took 3 1/2 hours to fix all the damage that was done to my hair by Swank Salon. See pics below. This place is a HARD NO.... They don't stand behind their products or their stylists . I went in there yesterday AND Nate did my hair and it was my first time at the salon and a HUGE mistake on my part . I told him do not put any brassy or red in my hair so as he was putting the color in my hair I said, "wait a minute that looks reddish" and he kinda of snapped back at me and said "that's not red". It sure as heck turned out red on my hair. In fact my hair has never looked worse than it does now. I also bought some of their products they're so called all natural products and I used them last night to see if it would help get some of the red out of my hair and it did not but it did make me break out in a rash and I was highly allergic to the stuff in their shampoo, cream rinse and styling serum so the manager/owner who I just found out through the grapevine is NATE , he would not let me return it. I hope nothing like this ever happens to anyone else .... Horrible ownership and customer service . Also Nate needs to learn to listen to his clients !! I do NOT recommend "swank" TERRIBLE !!!!! They said I yelled and cussed out the girl on the phone which is laughable. I never cussed at anyone and it's obvious it's just their way of not having to try to fix my hair or to give me a refund for their products. I saw no sign that says nonrefundable nor did Nate tell me that when I was purchasing them but then they told me to read their salons policy like who does that before they go get their hair done to read the pages of a salon policy . I sure regret ever stepping foot in this place . What a joke . I also REALLY regret giving nate a $25 tip. It was on my way home when I had my sunroof open that I could see the red in my hair and I was literally in tears. What kind of company would do this to anybody instead of trying to make it right. I can tell you my stylist's name because I'm moving out of state...it's Katie and I've been getting raves since my first color and cut with her over two years ago. I love this place. Taylor is the most professional receptionist in any business I've been to in the last 15 years. She's got a lot going for her but I hope she stays with Swank as long as possible. If you have to wait to get an appointment with Katie, blame me for talking her up but each time she colors/cuts my hair, friends, relatives and strangers compliment me. If no one did, I'd still be absolutely delighted with her talent. I came in during their 50% off for new clients only. I was hoping to make this my permanent place to go after reading all the good reviews. The front desk girl was friendly enough but I left with underwhelming hair. I made the appointment for a color correction letting them know ahead of time the condition of my hair. My hair is healthy just had a very uneven color in it. I left with an equally uneven color only darker. I also scheduled a haircut asking for enough to be cut off that the split ends be gone and I still have spilt ends all over. Two weeks later I've only washed twice with high end color treatment shampoo and the color is fading dramatically making my hair look more of a disaster than ever. The morning of, I checked the social media and Instagram of the stylist I made an appointment with and I just wasn't satisfied. She had 3 years of experience and her clients hair, from the very few pictures there were, looked fried. Through looking at other photos, I found Bre, 7+ years of experience and decided to go to Swank Salon instead. I met with Bre, told her what I wanted to get done and she worked with me to insure that whatever happened, it would be for my best interest. She definitely stressed the importance of hair health which I really appreciate because dead hair isn't fun. Anyway, it turned out amazing, as evident by the photo. Hey y'all, I went to this place twice in the less than a week and I'm not pleased at all. I went in and ask for a dark red/ maroon color, with a trim. The trim was good nothing bad about that but the color didn't come out anywhere close to what I wanted it was a sorta brown color. I immediately call them after I got home and asked Jess if she could fix it. She said she would an the only appointment that was good for the both of us was on Wednesday. ( fine by me I had work and school) I go in on Wednesday and she tried to fix it. I showed her a picture of the maroon color I wanted and she told me she could do that. She bleached or more like fried my hair. The back of my hair is destroyed, worse than any other bleaching I've ever had. She then added the color which came out to be a very bright red. I'm okay with red bc it doesn't look has bad has the first time but still wasn't my desired color. After that she then proceeded to charge me for a full color. My first appointment was already 145$ on top of another 130$ for a fix. After spending a day with my new hair I also noticed that half of my roots are done, and the other half isn't along with heavy spots of orange. I will say I am very displeased and do not recommend anyone this place. I will not be returning. Good luck to all my other woman/ men out there. read more

I missed an appointment because my son and I are both at home with the flu, they charged me $180 and refused to work with me on that because of company policy. I understand a missed appointment fee but I also expect a business to work with people when they have circumstances like being sick with the flu. When I called to try and have the issue addressed, Hailey, our stylist blamed us for not using the right shampoo even though we had used special shampoo made specifically for color treated hair. She also claimed she told us it would only last a max of 2 weeks during the consultation. Not true. She said nothing about that before she dyed my daughter's hair. Only after I had paid and asked about how long it would last did she tell me 2-4 weeks. Never said this ahead of time, and never said it might only last 3 days. Totally disgusted with this place. I'm so happy we found such a quality salon! The staff is always nice and welcoming and the decor is super cute! I have had Kayla and Victoria worked on me during separate visits and they're both very sweet and accommodating. There was another gal that worked on me before as well but unfortunately I forgot her name, but she was also very sweet and accommodating to my requests. All of them were passionate about their craft and go the extra mile to make you happy. Another thing I appreciated was that they were all very gentle; I never felt like my hair was being yanked on or my head was positioned weird. It is a very relaxing experience. I really enjoy coming here but women's haircuts are expensive so I can only go every once in awhile. It's a small strip mall area so parking is limited but I don't think we've ever had trouble finding parking. read more

I know it's kinda weird that I am a man that gets his hair cut at a salon instead of a barber but this place is awesome. I go on Tuesdays because Tuesdays is their Mens Day. They cut my hair and wash it and give me a beer for 18 bucks. Cannot beat that. The stylists are always on schedule. They are all great, I've tried pretty much all of them. I like to go at the same time each trip so I see who is available. But really you can't go wrong with any of them.
