I decided bleaching my own hair would be a good idea and then colouring it blue. Ummm, no. So I called for an appointment with sadness in my voice, wasn't feeling pretty at all. Sadly, they were booked for that day (Saturday) which I kinda expected as Saturdays are usually one of the busiest days in the beauty industry. Anyway, about 15 minutes later, the owner calls me back and said to come in at x time and she'll cut my hair and do my roots. We could handle the colour correction at a later appointment. I was so so excited and grateful! Tammy said I just sounded so sad and she just felt bad that they couldn't so she figured out a way to work me in. I could have cried! Arrived on time and she took one look and said "OK, we can fix this and we WILL fix this!" I love a woman with a can do attitude and plan. She made me a custom colour for my roots and she did some beauty magic in the back room and fixed my crazy blue bleachy hair. Then she got busy with her scissors and made my shortish fluffy hair tamed and ever so pretty. When I left, my whole heart was happy. I felt as pretty inside as my outside hair looked. We also made a plan for me to come and have a Keratin treatment with my next touch up. I did have it and loved it. I was worried about ending up with pin straight hair but it was not frizzy and still held my curls. Just love love Tammy and her team I also would like to say, I watched as Tammy taught her newest stylist (fresh out of beauty school) with a kindness and ease. The new stylist was doing really well but Tammy explained why a certain technique was used and why it helped the client. I really liked how she taught and still kept the appointment moving along. I was thoroughly confident in having the stylist do my blowout. I highly encourage you to visit Tammy and her fabulous team. They will listen and offer you suggestions based on their professional knowledge. Parking: a public lot across the street. Read the signage. Most of the time it's free but (I think) Farmer's Market Saturdays there is a fee. There is a lot somewhat behind the store, accessed through the street before the store. Paying: cash is preferred, as there is a small percentage fee charged if you use your credit or debit card (just what the bank charges them).

The longer: Nimia was busy when I got in- she was doing rainbow highlights for a young girl, painting the roots of another woman, and answering phones. This tiny spot is tidy & clean- it's homey. There I were two employees on a Saturday afternoon. Nimia & another woman- who ended up doing my blowout. The woman was lovely, but didn't speak much English, so Nimia translated for her. I originally intended to bite the bullet and schlep into the city to a devachon salon to spend $200 on one of their famous curly cuts, but when covid hit I had to put those plans on hold. Thanks to the many recommendations from PM's to go to John, I'm so happy I never made it into the city. From the moment I stepped into the salon I was made to feel welcome, and John spent a ton of time teaching me how to take care of my curls while giving me the best cut I have ever had. The salon was extremely clean and up to date with all the covid precautions. I left with a bunch of samples and a totally transformed, happy head of hair. All in all if you're on the fence about where to go to get your curly hair cut, take it from someone who hasn't let someone touch their hair with a pair of scissors in years; I will definitely be returning to John in the future and hope you decide to give his salon a shot too. The last two appointments I let Layla know that I do not want my hair short, I am growing it out. She cut it too short anyway and left my hair looking like a poofy messy bob. The man started counting my tips and made a nasty comment. I was very embarrassed. The manager listened near by and over. He was very nice. But the staff can be rude about tips very pushy sometimes and look at your tip then barely say thank you even if it is a high tip. I usually do 25 percent but they still seem Unappreciative.
