The second time, I got booked with the owner, and unfortunately, she messed up my hair. I left a review explaining my experience (as anyone would), and that should've been the end of it. But no, when i tried to book with John again, I got a personal call saying I wasn't allowed back--because I didn't reply to her response on my review. I didn't realize hair appointments now come with emotional homework. If a business owner can't handle honest feedback without making it personal and petty, it says a lot more about their professionalism than any haircut ever could. since i can't reply to owners response i'll add it here. Thanks to the owner for confirming everything I said. Instead of accepting a customer's feedback gracefully, she chose to write a paragraph blaming my hair type, another salon, and me for not replying to her review response. For the record, I didn't realize that replying to google comments was part of the booking policy here. I was trying to see John again -someone I had a good experience with. Well, he did. I was stuck at a doctor's appointment (they were an hour behind) in Bohemia before my appointment w/Hector. It was out of my control and I called the salon 40 minutes before my appointment time. When I called, Laura said "you're coming for a blow out right?". WRONG. I made the appointment for a trim. It wouldn't have made a difference if I'd gone to the appointment; it wasn't even for what I requested, and I would've had to cancel anyway. I re-scheduled for the following Saturday at 3:15. I drove from Commack to W Babylon, only to find out Hector erased me from the schedule. When Laura asked why I was there, I told her, "you put me down for 3:15, I called on April 23". She said, "I know what happened; I'm going to let him tell you" and she started to walk into the back. I told her not to bother because Hector had already seen me and didn't wave or say hello. She said he took me off the schedule. I was stunned and furious. Not even a phone call. And he didn't have the guts to tell me to my face. This was a man who when he had rotator cuff surgery, I lent him my sling. We exchanged stories about our moms and he would tell me I needed to stress less. He always asked how my sister and nephews were. And because of one cancellation for the WRONG type of appointment, he lost me as a client. What a way to act just from a last minute cancellation, that happened ONLY once in 20 years.
