At this point we had given up on the day and just whatever was placed infront of us. Not the best food in the world. The service was OK, and the staff friendly enough, but not the place I like to eat. Branded pubs just don't do it for me normally. This was one I'd decide not to visit again.

This evening we made one of our occasional visits for an evening meal in the restaurant. Once a stomping ground for my friends and I, once we had all turned 18, the Amber has since been ignored by the majority of us, after we proceeded to find a new meeting point for us all to visit. Despite this, the Amber has a fairly good atmosphere due to its popularity amongst local people. A 'Sizzling Pub', the Amber offers a variety of deals, including Beer and a Burger night on Mondays, Curry night on Tuesdays and weekend deals that encourage couples to dine their for £20, including two meals and a bottle of wine. A fairly busy pub, the Amber offers some brilliant drink deals, including £1.85 drinks on Mondays, including Carling, Carslberg, Ale and 175ml glasses of wine. These interesting deals make the Amber worth a visit, without making it a regular visit for the majority of people who don't live extremely close.

We went away and came back. The place was heaving!? We ordered a breakfast. It was £4.79, coffee was an extra £1.00, It came on a sizzling platter. The bottom layer was covered with tiny cubed sautéed potatoes. There was a couple of succulent sausages, 2 rashers of tasty bacon, a black thing, (turned out to be a mushroom), grilled tomato, slice of toast and a couple of fried eggs on top. My first thought was that we were in a Wetherspoons, but apparently, we were not. It's similar in the 'feel' when you are inside. It's a very busy city centre pub, right next to New Street Station, hence its popularity, no doubt. The breakfast was good. The decor was clean and modern, it was let down slightly by the atmosphere - but it was a local derby football match, so the whole of the city centre was likely to be tense. It's a shame really. If t wasn't a football day, I'd be happy to recommend the place.
