A brand new pop-up store in the heart the Northern Quarter, SWAG (Shop, Workshop, Art Gallery) showcases the work of a group of independent artists from across the region.
After chatting to one of the co-founders, I found out that they're a team of 13 core members who specialise in contemporary crafts including prints, ceramics, lighting, textiles, jewellery and mixed-media art. SWAG has items from around 25 or so artists for sale.
They occupy a prime location in a disused building on Oldham Street and are self-funded - they've transformed the space into one that looks right at home in this district of the city.
So if you're a fan of homemade design and looking for something not available on the high street (and want to support independents!) then head here as part of your Christmas shopping trip.
You won't have long though, as they're only going to stay open until the end of December! read more
