Complete Waste of Money - All Three Projects Had to Be Fully Redone…read more I'm writing this review to help other homeowners avoid the significant time and money I wasted, as well as the frustration I experienced with Travers Construction. After my father passed away over three years ago, I hired them for a basement water penetration project because he had trusted and used them for years. I assumed I could trust them too. That project was the beginning of the end. It was clear that water was coming up through the foundation at the front of the property... they insisted that digging a trench about 15 feet from the house and filling it with stone was what needed to be done to fix the issue. I asked them whether this would just result in groundwater building up against the foundation as the path of least resistance, but they insisted that wasn't true -- and that is exactly what happened. At the time I didn't have experience with these types of repairs, so I trusted their recommendation. They backfilled the trench with stone right up to grade and laid the grass directly on top of the stone with no dirt or topsoil. The grass died because it had nothing to root into. After the very next rain we had more water in the basement than ever before. When the problem persisted and worsened, they washed their hands of it and left. Their so-called repair made the situation worse and was a complete waste of money. Another contractor had to remove all of their work and redo the entire project properly. After this experience I was smart enough not to use them again. Only then did I look back at the earlier projects they had done for my father and realize every single one of them was also complete trash that ultimately had to be removed and redone by another contractor. French drain project (~3 years ago, around the time of my father's passing): The quality of work was awful. No filter fabric was added to the drain and the perforated pipe wasn't even connected. The system was failing less than two years later. It will need to be completely redone in the next few years. It was a complete waste of money. Patio / backyard foundation project (~14 years ago): They were hired to eliminate water penetration at the rear foundation of the house. They backfilled with pure clay. The project failed and water intrusion through the foundation started less than 10 years later. The patio had to be removed and the entire project had to be completely redone by another contractor last year. Their work not only failed to solve the water problem -- it was a complete waste of money. In all three projects Travers Construction delivered substandard work using improper materials and techniques. Every job failed, required full removal of their installation, and had to be completely redone from scratch by a different contractor at significant additional cost. They appear to prioritize quick jobs and collecting payment over quality or lasting results, leaving homeowners to pay twice (or more) to fix the problems they created. If you are considering Travers Construction, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I trusted them when I moved to the area because my father had used them in the past -- and it cost my family substantial time, money, and repeated frustration. Learn from my experience and hire someone else.

He completely hacked the job. Communication was the worst I've ever seen in any business that deals with customers. he refused to do anything that I asked before paying in the final check and then threatened to get a lawyer. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and unfortunately he took the check and left the job unfinished atrocious. He ruined my neighbors bushes he clogged drain. and he just made this experience terrible I will post the pictures as my proof some people don't click this man. There was no clicking with. It was his way and that is all my father had cancer and I asked him specifically to wait a day because my father had just got treatment and he told me no I do it when I want.

Chris was always helpful with his recommendations and keeping budget and maintenance concerns in mind. Kirsten has done a great job with flower design, and renters have given us lots of compliments. Everything was always done at the busy early summer time of year to be sure it was all set for summer rental season. Danielle in the front office, and others are so nice and helpful too. Chris also mentioned he could remove some trees and clean up others in the yard, which we did. All good. The next year the mowing rate went up a bit. That was fine, they still did a good job. We inquired about a more extensive project for our house, replacing some worn out timbers, putting in a new walkway and retaining wall as well as some new plantings. We were assured this was all possible and a quote would be forthcoming. After a few weeks with no estimate I contacted Kiersten who said they were just waiting for a few more estimates on their end to give us our quote, it should only be a few more days. We waited a couple more weeks, still nothing, another delay but just a few more days. At that point we figured we would never get a response, we didn't or any sort of follow up. However, they showed up promptly for fall cleanup and did a good job. The next year the mowing rate went up again, now double what it had been 2 years prior. We grudgingly agreed. We also scheduled another fall cleanup. By December when they hadn't come we were given an excuse about not having enough good weather but an assurance that when spring came they would do the cleanup. Spring arrived, no CCT&L. Called with a reminder in April, got an excuse that they were catching up on work from the fall but said they should be to us in a couple of weeks. At the beginning of May I called again and was told they would be to us by the first week in June. When the second week of June came and went we decided to do cleanup ourselves. CCT&L never showed for a cleanup we had scheduled 8 months earlier. Ridiculous. More ridiculous, they didn't mow our lawn that year, even when we had agreed to their much higher rate. To be clear, they have our CC info on file and always billed us after they had performed a service, so their failure to come to our home was not due to any payment issue on our end. They used to do a good job, but I have no idea how they stay in business any longer. They still send me emails urging me to sign up for services in a timely manner. That must be a joke.

Specifically discussed tying back the climbing roses on the side of the house, but other than that, they would be okay. First morning of the work, we discovered they had cut all the canes off at the ground. When confronted, he became very defensive and threatened to walk off the job setting back the whole project. They didn't even remove the climbing vines they had just killed so cutting them at the ground served no purpose.

Jon thoroughly explained the process and quoted a fair price, so we scheduled a date for work to take place. Jon and his team arrived on time and well prepared. They took precautions to protect our property, and though we realize dropping limbs and trees may result in some lawn damage, there was barely ANY damage at all. Great care was taken to fell the trees so that, not only the crews, but our home and pool/deck were totally safe. They even placed plywood sheets down to protect our lawn from driving the bucket truck! After the trees were felled and well trimmed, the clean up crew was hard at work removing any debris. They were methodical and worked quickly, but were very thorough. They even raked up the twigs and leaves that fell! Once completed, the stump grinding team arrived. Very professional and conscientious. There were sprinkler heads and small shrubs near two of the stumps needing grinding and great care and precision were used resulting in no damage to either! Fantastic job performed well and a reasonable price as quoted! We immediately referred Jon and Champion to our neighbors and friends and will DEFINITELY use them again for any future work!

I had no time to take care of the mess while moving to and organizing the new home. Let alone some stranger knocking on my door. An elderly chap with a wife in their car, I had to lend an ear and forget about the pending tax return. I don't often ask anything except do you have a town permit to solicit door to door, but I had an urge to talk. Then came the real reason he was here...the tree damage. we walked around the yard talked about what I knew had to be taken care of and a bit more. I was given a verbal price that I could not have beaten anywhere on the Cape. I agreed, we shook hands and he made a call. It was about 2PM and I was told they would be here this afternoon. Oh, yea I wondered what was next. Well, he left and about 15 minutes later a caller told me the team would be arriving about 4PM...AND THEY DID. 3 guys with an 85 foot boom truck which would be of no use for the project. OK, the 3 dawned on climbing gear and trees came down. Then a bobcat arrived on scene. Another 10 minutes and a log chipper was in front of my house. Work force was now up to 5 plus a supervisor and by 7PM everything was done! The work I had shook hands on, an additional pile of branches, the entire house frontage the the roadway in front of the house and the driveway were all cleaned. Everyone was gone when Dale rang the door bell, I paid the agreed upon price, had a nice talk with Dale and his wife. A couple of other tree problems that might need some professional attention were pointed out and a promise to return when called. Another hand shake and we departed each with friendly smiles and seance of a job well done, well above my expectations!
