I get the sense the owner of this location doesn't stop by often to check on how their staff is doing. When I visited recently a half an hour before closing time, the staff seemed irritated that they had to take another order and fire up the grill again...mind you I walked in at 6:30 not 6:50 when they close at 7. My flounder sandwich was large and fresh, but tasted like nothing as if no salt or seasoning was used in the fry batter. My wife said the same about her grilled halibut, fresh but lacking in flavor. All in all it works if you are in a pinch and want some fresh fish, but I would not go out of my way to eat here.

We brought an empty cart to the Catering desk at the end of the produce area, and it was returned to us about 10 mins later, each platter nicely arranged and sturdily boxed. I then looked at the other guy who was shaking his head in apparent disgust at me. Infuriated, I barked back at him and told him to never mind, found my wife, and left the store. We drove 15 minutes up the road to Donalans. I went up to the deli counter and the young woman greeted me with a big smile and a "Hi! What can I get you?" She followed that with a warm "Absolutely!" What a sharp contrast. We usually don't go to Roche brothers anyway because we live closer to Donalans but we happen to be at TJ Maxx next store. Never setting foot in there again. At approximately 1:00 p.m., I was outside waiting for my friend while she finished making her purchases. As she walked out of the store, she tripped over a bike rack positioned along the walkway. She fell hard, injuring and bloodying her knee and scraping her hands. She was visibly shaken, and the pie she had just purchased was destroyed in the fall. I went inside to tell an employee what had happened and to ask whether the pie could be replaced. While I was speaking with the employee, my friend came inside, limping. My friend asked whether the employee had heard what had happened. Rather than expressing concern or asking whether she was okay, the employee's reaction struck both of us as surprisingly dismissive. My friend then asked whether she could have some ice for her injured knee. The employee said no and walked away. Because I was surprised by that response, I asked another employee who was stocking muffins whether he could get some ice for my friend because, I explained, she had just fallen and injured herself. He also indicated that he could not. The first employee later returned and explained that there were no more pies available, and my friend was refunded for the pie. What happened next was the strangest part of the experience. As we were leaving, the employee came after us and quietly told my friend that she would get her some ice if she promised not to tell anyone. My friend accepted the ice. I cannot explain why providing ice to an injured customer apparently needed to be done discreetly. What bothered me most was not simply that my friend fell. Accidents happen. It was the response afterward. A customer was bleeding, shaken, and asking for something as basic as ice. I would have expected someone to ask whether she was all right and to offer reasonable assistance. Instead, the response we experienced initially felt defensive and indifferent. The pie was refunded, which I appreciate. But the overall interaction left such a negative impression that I do not intend to return.

Sure enough I called and Debra's confirmed they had soft white wheat berries, which I have not been able to find anywhere else. Upon arrival I knew I'd be staying a while! It's so clean and well organized. This place is my dream come true. They have everything you need to live a cleaner, less toxic, and less wasteful life. Bulk spices, grains, coffee, teas, hygiene/beauty products. I definitely need to get back! Everyone there was so helpful and kind. I wish I lived closer!!! Worth the trip though.

Finally, I told the shopper, Andrew, to cancel the order. He texted back, "the entire order? " And I said "yes, the entire order as I will have to go to another grocery store anyways". Two hours later the order shows up at my house. I told the driver to return the order and that I wanted a refund. He informed me that I would have to call the store. I called Roche Bros in Sudbury and was told that it would take at least 10 days to get a refund! I said that this was unacceptable as I had cancelled the order before Andrew check outed and I had proof of this with the texts on my phone. The manager at Sudbury Farms then hung up on me. I cannot understand how they can get away with this. I can only warn others to beware.
