There is an option for either a 2 hour time frame or a 4 hour one. If you have the time then I would honestly recommend the 4 hour one. The routes that they have you travel are different (but the 4 hour also covers the 2 hour loop). Overall the water was pretty calm and we got to see plenty of seals. Recommend stopping by the beach, they'll point out where you can do so during the orientation talk, and walk along the shore to the seal and birds area. It's also a nice area to take a food break.

We were in the water by 8:45 today and the lower lot was full by the time we were ready to park for the day. Pretty crazy upper lot where people seem to squeeze in where they can amongst the eucalyptus trees. I needed to write a review because we had the worst sludgy mess of an experience at the end of our paddle today. There were boats to the left of the ramp as we were coming in so we went right. BAD MOVE! It was like sea quicksand. Smelly, sludgey, that wasn't quite mud but it wasn't normal shoreline either. My guy got sucked in to his thighs!!! Steer clear, when coming back from a paddle stay right and come up on the beach line and carry the boats up, worth it to avoid the mess. I saw what was happening to him and stayed right as much as I could and didn't get caught as bad but that whole right side of the launch ramp when facing the shore with Nick's Cove to your left us a nightmare. Trust me, lol. Otherwise, the water is AMAZING out there! Not too busy, plenty of books to explore, wildlife, just an incredible day on the water! We've done a bioluminescent tour at night before and in the right ambient light it's a great spot to catch the phenomenon.

Boaters can park overnight, which makes Miller an excellent access point for visitors seeking overnight camping or boating adventures in Tomales Bay (with a permit) and the surrounding Point Reyes seashore. (There is no camping at Miller.) Anglers can fish for striped bass, perch, rock fish, halibut, salmon, and crab. The dock and parking are accessible. Dogs are allowed on leash. Two gender neutral bathrooms are provided, but were very busy the weekend I was there. Plan ahead. Parking is $5/day (payable at a kiosk), but FREE on the first Saturday of the month thanks to Measure A. Alternatively, a free pass which hangs from your rear view mirror can be borrowed providing you have a library card from the Marin County Free Library which is easy and free to acquire if you are a CA resident. When the weather is good and the water is calm, expect parking on the lower level and upper level to be challenging. Waiting for someone to leave may take some time. During the Labor Day Weekend, fishermen were catching halibut, but unlucky fishermen caught nothing or bat rays or nurse sharks so make sure to not have a barbed hook. More experienced kayak fishermen were equipped with a red flag and told us that they caught their own bait first. If you head out to the ocean, there's a lot of eel grass that can jam up you pedals. Kayaking away from the ocean affords you a smoother ride.

Ocean Cove is an amazing place to make the drive to and camp for a weekend, a week, or even a…read moreholiday. Yes, the campground gets packed during holiday weekends--but leaving a 1-star review because a popular campground is full makes absolutely no sense . During busy weekends, the campground fills up quickly with campers enjoying their trips with family and friends. If you show up late to a popular campground during a holiday expecting an empty spot to magically be waiting for you, that might be a planning problem--not an Ocean Cove problem . The campground itself is absolutely beautiful. You get insane, million-dollar ocean views, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and a great forest trail to walk through. Eventually, you'll find another incredible ocean-view spot known by many as "Service Rock" --usually where people end up trying to catch some service when there isn't much around the campground. One of my favorite things about Ocean Cove is the people. You meet so many friendly people, randomly start conversations, and easily make new friends. It has a real camping atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Now, some of these 1-star reviews are honestly wild . Someone said the cliffs are dangerous and Ocean Cove needs to fence off the entire campground. Absolutely not. This is a natural coastal campground with cliffs. Parents are responsible for watching their children, and adults are responsible for paying attention to their surroundings. We don't need to fence off one of the most beautiful parts of the campground because somebody forgot that cliffs are, in fact, dangerous . Then there are complaints about the honey buckets. During busy weekends, there are a LOT of people using them. The staff can maintain them, but they can't clean them every 10 seconds . Have realistic expectations. Complaining that Ocean Cove is too expensive is also crazy. Maintaining a campground, paying employees, and keeping a business running costs money. What do people expect--an incredible campground on the California coast with insane ocean views for $10 a night forever? Ocean Cove is worth the money. And the complaints about it being "overly crowded"... seriously? What do you expect during a busy weekend--an empty campground? If the place is packed, that should tell you something: people love coming here. The people working here also deserve recognition. Matt in the store is an awesome guy--friendly, easy to talk to, and always cool. 10/10. Joe is also a great and helpful guy. And Joe and Louise around the campground are both incredibly kind and friendly with a great sense of humor. Just understand: if you give them shit, you're probably going to get shit right back . And lastly: OYSTER DIVE! I don't care what anybody says--those oysters are BOMB. Fresh, cleaned on the spot, freshly grilled, and the sauces are absolutely fire. 11/10. Broke the scale. They never get old, and buying a dozen--or several--is always worth it . Overall, Ocean Cove is a phenomenal place to camp. Incredible ocean views, sunsets, forest trails, great people, amazing employees, and some seriously good food. To the people leaving 1-star reviews because the campground was busy during a holiday, because they expected every cliff to be fenced off, or because a busy employee didn't stare directly into their soul when they walked into the store: respectfully, maybe Ocean Cove just isn't for you . For everyone else who enjoys nature, camping, incredible views, good people, and having a great time--Ocean Cove is absolutely worth the drive and worth every dollar. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get that close to the creek as I thought we would from other reviews and the description on the website, but maybe it was due to our group size (7 + guide) or our mixed levels of experience. We did get a few opportunities to trot, and the sights were gorgeous. I may have fallen in love with my horse, Cody, a beautiful palomino (which is saying something because I have a palomino of my own at home) but he was so responsive that I really enjoyed riding him. I have family in the area, so I'm already trying to plan my next trip so I can go ride with this group again!

Five Brooks is the riding stables that provides a variety of group or private guided horseback rides, with a view of the ocean and includes rides along Salmon Creek or on the beach ! We choose the Picnic private ride along Salmon Creek which included a up hill majestic overlook ride where hawks and Ospreys were, and a duck pond where Herons and Egrets were seen, all beautiful and natural landscapes. We lucked out as it was a cloudless day with 7 mph winds as this area can be more windy and foggy. Andrea our guide was super helpful, friendly, accommodating and so easy to ride with, explaining the personalities of our horses. They help you mount and dismount, fit you to the saddle and encourage you to pet and talk to your horse. We rode up hill and down and the horses were very fit and in good health and eager to trot up the hill! I weigh 207 lbs and my horse Cody was not lazy underneath me a they have horses that will accommodate larger people. The views were spectacular and the trotting was fun. After our ride we came back to the ranch stables for a picnic on a park like table in a meadow that was tasty deli sandwiches, chips, Gatorade and some Snickerdoodle cookies, we brought our own wine which is allowed. It was a great ride, nice pace and the horses were fantastic, easy to ride, steer, and very easy going but energetic and not tired as they can be in public riding stables. Next time I go back I want to do the beach ride! Everything went well overall, the only minor hick up was my triple E width boots were too wide for the stir ups but they just moved them to a sideways position and adjusted the length and was fine. Leave earlier than GPS says as it takes longer on rural roads to give yourself time and there are speed bumps on the entrance road to the Ranch, so it's a slow approach. Cowboy Up!
