The newest on Antioch in Gladstone is Suvee Sweets Cakerie. I went in today and took home a small cake on what was their third day in operation. The opening special was a slice of cake with any purchase; so I had a slice of white wedding cake with my 5" Hummingbird Cake for $7.99. no issues with the Wedding Cake, but man oh man was the Hummingbird delicious! With pineapple, banana and cinnamon in the cake and iced with one of the thickest and wonderful crème cheese icings; I have found my new favorite cake! They are not only offering cakes, but cookies, pastries, breads, cupcakes... The front case looks beautiful. Five stars for The Hummingbird Cake!! read more

Okay, so I ordered a six inch cake, and they up-charged me around $10-13 for adding writing? I was so upset. Their 6-inch cakes are only $20. I don't understand why they up charged so much. I'd been looking for a bakery that offers traditional goods (cinnamon rolls, cookies, and the like), but also had unique offerings you wouldn't find anywhere else. Suvee hits all the buttons. I went in with the intention of buying a Hummingbird Cake (super yummy, by the way), but also picked up some pecan sticky rolls - the hubby's favorite. Nothing disappointed.
