I didn't see the water, and slipped and indeed fell quite hard. I'm youngish and spry, and was able to bounce back, and am just sore and achy. But nobody made any comment to me or expressed any concern (other than other guests). I in fact had to report the incident after flagging someone down, and nobody offered as much as an apology or asked if I was ok. I'm honestly glad it was me rather than an older person, as the outcome could have been rough. The food at McLain's is consistently good. She did not notify me verbally of this prior to me paying in cash (which I did to avoid the 4% credit card fee). That's essentially theft. You can't keep money just because you're short. If pennies are so inconsequential, then give back the customer a nickel instead. I bet business would put up a huge fit if the customer asked them to just take less than what they're owed. Not only that, when I paused in taking the cash, the woman then goes into the till and says, "I have ONE penny." So... essentially you lied first about not having any pennies, and you're still short on giving me my change. Can you imagine taking your grandma/nona's $5 to the candy store, then coming back with a receipt that you spent $1 but don't have the rest of her change to return? Absolutely not.
