They do everything but say "let's be friends," yet you leave your appointment feeling that they might as well have said that, too! You may meet Reena or Ian or Dr. Vaughan himself, but you will get the same feeling from all of them- professional expertise first, with a general feeling of welcome and a listening to what you have to say. I've had two visits, and am very impressed, especially having received less than pleasant experiences elsewhere. I'm sold on these amazing people.

She left the practice recently and while I understand that people move on, I was never notified of her decision. No one let me know that I would be assigned to a new member of the team (who hasn't even started at this point). I called to have an appointment regarding something timely and was pushed out for another week and a half because of an issue with the staff. From there, they didn't even suggest the other possibilities for me to be seen sooner. I figured out ON MY OWN that I could be seen at a walk-in clinic. I needed to have some paperwork filled out but the physicians on staff cannot complete this because the person who performed my physical is no longer working there. They did try to work with me and give me an alternative but when that wouldn't work, they wanted to charge me for a second physical for the year. This is baloney, I already had a physical. It is not my fault that they are having staffing issues. I will gladfully take my medical business elsewhere. I kind of suggest you do too.

Haven't done this in 15 years. Dr. Carpio's office said the final step was to come to their office for an intake appointment. Mind you, we had NO MEDICAL NEED TO DO THIS. The three of us went and had our 8 minute "nice to meet you, quick medical background review" appointment and went home. We were billed $800 for these appointments. With a high deductible plan, that comes out of my pocket. $800 for an appointment we didn't need. SHAME ON THEM. A fee was never discussed beforehand and I never assumed there'd be a charge since we DID NOT ASK FOR OR NEED THE APPOINTMENT. Worse yet, Dr. Carpio refused to return the multiple messages i left for him to discuss the matter. I won't even go into the BS "coding" that was done to "correctly" bill the appointments. The coding referenced things that weren't even discussed in the appointment. Dr. Carpio is part of the problem. Charging/coding for things that were never discussed to justify a fee. It's not how a normal business is supposed to run but it's how we've all accepted the medical/insurance industry runs. We've since found another primary care physician and the last thing their intake person told us prior to hanging up the phone was "you do need to come in for an appointment to finalize your onboarding as new patients but LET'S WAIT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A NEED before we do that." I will never go to SUTTER or DR. CARPIO again. Other medical groups and doctors offer the same level of service at a much more affordable price.

On a repeat visit, she slapped her knee with pride and said she thought she had found the diagnosis. It was awful. Disfiguring, treatable but not curable. I was stunned. At home I found a website with a presentation on the disease complete with photos. I tried to tell her I didn't look like those photos. She had prescribed a medication, after that totally ghosted me. I messaged her through the portal to change the medication from cream to ointment but got no response. Eventually I showed up at her office and was told she wasn't in and they didn't know when she would be back. I asked if another doctor there would make the minor change to the prescription and was declined. I was completely on my own. Since the diagnosis she handed me was gynecological, I procured my own referral to a gynecologist who thankfully tested and ruled out Dr Duncan's diagnosis. I'm still in disbelief that she saddled me with such an awful diagnosis then turned her back on me. I took it as cowardice. She came up with something she couldn't handle and instead of suggesting a specialist, she dropped me without explanation. I felt betrayed.

She is so personable, knowledgeable and all but saved my life/mobility by diagnosing me with Osteomyelitis in my lumbar spine and sending me to the hospital right in the nick of time! I always love getting to visit with her during our appointments. You will not go wrong choosing her as your doctor!

She is a fine person, but I am so disappointed in her failure to refer me to an adequate specialist. I have suffered with endocrine related issues for years that have wreaked havoc on my life in so many ways. Two years ago I begged for her to write me a referral to endocrinology, and I even had a letter from a separate medical doctor who was advocating on my behalf. She said that endocrinology couldn't help me and I was devestated. Well, now it's two years later and I have gotten a lot worse. I have new symptoms too, which drove me back to the doctor (a different PCP - not Dr Freeman) who actually ran some tests on me and found some issues related to my thyroid and sent me an urgent referral to endocrinology. I'm hoping I can get my issues sorted out soon, but I've already lost so much. I've continued to deteriorate, which has cost me -- financially, physically, and emotionally. It has damaged my reputation at work and my relationships with friends - I'm now seen as the flakey person who is unreliable because of my health. I've spent so much money on treatments that haven't worked, and have tried over the counter supplements, out-of-network doctors, ANYTHING to try to get relief, to no avail. I've also had to take so many days off work that it has maxed out my PTO, so I have to go without pay if I need to take anytime off for additional sickness or appointments. And I am still sick -- suffering different symptoms every day, and waking up in the middle of the night because of them. I've had a lot of dark thoughts and feel hopeless. I'm disappointed that Dr. Freeman couldn't refer me two years ago and I think my life would be different right now if she had done so. I hope that this experience will change her attitude going forward. Not every patient is lying about their symptoms or faking it.
