We have visited Sutter Buttes Brewing many times over the past four years, and somehow I always forget to leave a review. Every single visit has been consistently wonderful. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the friendly atmosphere has never changed. We've come for both lunch and dinner, and we've never been disappointed. On our most recent visit, we tried the bavarian sampler, and it completely blew us away. Every bite was packed with flavor, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. Over the years, Sutter Buttes Brewing has become one of our favorite comfort spots, whether it's during the fall, winter, or summer. 1- if I'm going out dinner during a hot day during the summer I want to go somewhere where the air conditioning is running at a comfortable temp. It was uncomfortably hot. 2- I don't like how my husband and I weren't checked after our dinner was brought to us. I was always taught to check on tables after the first couple bites, just in case something needed attention. In our case, my husband's dinner was less than. 3- His cavatappi w/ creamy pesto was not even warm. The sauce was very watery not creamy at all. He sent it back. Did not even want it re-made, nor did he want to order anything else. 4- my dinner, the patty melt w/ fries, wasn't up to par either. Either the fries weren't fried at a high enough temp or they had been sitting around for a while, most of them were partially soggy. Also- the fries were NOT seasoned whatsoever. read more

Well I just got back from Sutter Butte's and I'm feeling pretty good. I decided to try their shephard's pie along with their chicken wings. As someone who ate sober, I feel that the chicken wings were quite average and teetering on the edge of malaise. The chicken tasted dry and the breading was crumbling apart and tasted like dry cornstarch. I did ask for the sauce on the side and so this may have amplified the rawness of the starch. The shephard's pie was good but the sourdough bread that comes on the side could have been flavored more. I had to salt the dish and frankly, I used some of the ranch to boost the flavor. For $50.00 with tip, was it worth it? I am shaking my head in uncertainty. Am i happy i visited? Yes. Take that for what you will! read more

We had such an awesome experience at Sutter Butte Brewery! The food was amazing -- everything we ordered was delicious and super fresh. We shared the giant pretzel, spicy green beans, and the Don Calabria pizza. The pretzel was huge, perfectly warm and soft. I loved the mustard and my husband couldn't get enough of the cheese sauce. The spicy green beans had just the right amount of heat and were super flavorful. And that Don Calabria pizza... honestly one of the best pizzas we've ever had. The crust, the toppings, everything was spot on. We also ordered one of the beer flight samplers and every single beer we tried was really good. I also had the cider on tap and it was crisp and delicious. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more

While on the road up north during the holiday weekend, my friends and I were looking for a place to stop for dinner and found this German place. I was sold by looking at the menu and seeing all the gluten free options. Even as a bigger group, it was easy to get a table on a Friday evening but was still lively inside. I couldn't resist ordering gluten free calamari which is typically a hard thing to find, and also got the Jager Schnitzel - first time I've ever gotten that since I couldn't find a GF version in Europe! Calamari was decent, I would have preferred more of a marinara-like sauce instead of the horseradish cocktail sauce it came with but still good. The Jager Schnitzel was hearty and delicious, the mushroom gravy was pretty savory - I wouldn't suggest it if you don't like mushrooms. Overall a great stop for a filling meal, but I was surprised that with all the gf food options they had that they didn't have a single gluten free beer. Definitely a missed opportunity, cause I would have enjoyed that with my meal! read more

Visited March 25th for lunch...see receipt. I was so hoping this place would deliver better food today! I came in specifically to try their giant pretzel as advertised but they were OUT of them!!! I also asked for a glass of their Zin on the menu but they were out of that too! The Positives is their beer is awesome! I am not a beer drinker but the sample of Probst was tasty! My friend really enjoyed his beer! They do know how to make tasty brews! Negatives is the bratwurst was completely dry and appeared to be OLD...possibly reheated too many times as well. The bread was stale. The potato salad was oily and didn't taste quite right. My hamburger lunch special was ok..nothing special but still decent. Fries were okay. I would probably come back for one of their delicious beers and a large pretzel (when they have them!). I would definitely skip the bratwurst. The waitress was by herself serving a very busy lunch clientele but doing a good job trying to stay up with everything. They have indoor and outside seating. They also have happy hour starting at 2pm. They have tvs to watch sports which is a plus. There is probably better places to eat in this area! The food was amazing - we had the French Dip, with brie and carmelized onions, and fish and chips, beautifully fried and fresh. The service was prompt and friendly. Delicious food and wonderful beers! 5 of us had dinner here last Friday night. 3 of us ordered the Shepards Pies because we were told it is "life changing". It was very good. Hamburger and lamb mixed together in a very nice savory gravy. There were peas, onions and carrots on the meat mixture. The mashed potato covering was good. The other two had jaegerschnitzel and vienerschnitzel. They liked their meals a lot. We of course had beers too! The beers were very delicious and enjoyable to drink! I really wanted to like this place, The service took FOREVER, beer was warm, we were given complimentary tots due to a misunderstanding in the kitchen, the food LOOKS amazing, unfortunately my daughters burger bun was burned so we had to send it back, my sons chicken tenders came with 1 piece, even thou menu states 2 pieces. I asked our server Kat if I could get a taste of the Fireside Winter Ale and both my husband & I decided to get a 16oz glass $8.25 We also decided to share a Giant Bavarian Pretzel $13 which came with Dijon Mustard and Beer Cheese, which was yummy! Came in for the first time with my husband and several of our friends who met us there the staff and the owner are so nice and friendly and welcoming. I ended up getting the green salad and the spicy green beans with ranch. It was so good. And my husband got the fish and chips they looked amazing and my husband said it was really good. He got a beer also and I got a hard cider both were really good. The restaurant was somewhat busy but it was very clean and so were the bathrooms also. This is a neat little spot in the somewhat revamped downtown area. The outdoor patio area is nice when the weather is cooperating. The place gets busy and very loud on the weekends so be prepared. It looked like we showed up as the rush was subsiding so we were seated as soon as they could get an empty table cleaned for us. Their beer menu appeared to be well thought out, I felt it offered something for everyone. The food menu was the same, although I chose this spot for the German side. My schnitzel was absolutely delicious and 5 stars on its own. Of course I skipped the fries and got the German potato salad, this was also delish. Pickled cabbage you ask? Yes, also on point! The wife got their German mac and cheese which was tasty but was only lukewarm when it was served, such a bummer for what was otherwise also a great dish. Upon entering the place is really cute German themed however there was a strong unpleasant smell which im unsure what it was. It's a beer brewery so its possible it was the ingredients for the beer. Cheese sticks are huge but felt there was a bad cheese to crust ratio. Super disappointed with the pizza. (sad face) Toppings were hidden under the cheese and the crust did not hold up well. The car club and I really enjoyed our visit here. We pretty much showed up with 13 classic cars and parked down the block in a parking lot. It was perfect. Unfortunately, I don't think they were ready for 18 people to pop up, out the gate. But to their credit and friendly service, they eventually knocked it out. This was once a decent place, but the food quality has gone downhill and the restaurant is filthy. Poorly run, I came in on a Friday night and the food took an hour and a half. I understand it was busy, but they obviously have a management problem because I've heard from many other people that this has happened to them as well. The sauce should just be crushed, preferably using San Marzano tomatoes or other high quality plum tomatoes, no seasoning.
