WOW...what a fun area! It reminded me of Chico downtown with restaurants and cute shops! I first stopped in here. It's a cute pub and grill focusing on alot of Irish beers. Very casual atmosphere. I had the shepherd pub tots which were really good. Because I was traveling I had them put the shepherd pie on the side so it would stay better. I was simply trying to determine whether the charge was legitimate. I first spoke with a very pleasant employee who explained they were busy because of the weekend, took my information, and said someone would most likely call me back early next week. I also contacted Chase to report the $845.61 transaction as unfamiliar and asked them to investigate. About two hours later, at approximately 9:45 PM, I received a call from the owner, Brian, while my 6-year-old daughter was next to me as I was reading her bedtime story. Instead of asking questions or trying to understand why I was calling, he immediately accused me of being a scammer and told me that "you and your family should die a horrible death." I was shocked by the hostility. My daughter asked me what the man meant by wishing us to die and it took me a moment to come together to senses what to say to her about it.. I understand that business owners receive scam calls and can be cautious. I get them all the time and some times it gets annoying. However, there is no excuse for speaking to another person that way. I immediately called back, left a calm voicemail and gave him the opportunity to return my call to apologize. I never received a response. I want to be clear that I do not know whether the unfamiliar charge was caused by this business, their payment processor, or something else. Chase is investigating that separately. My review is based solely on how I was treated during that phone call. Ironically, my father and I actually stopped at this pub on that day of June 5. We looked at the menu, decided not to eat there because of the high cost menu prices, and instead had a great lunch at Burger Me in downtown Truckee and even took a selfie with food as it was delishious (tuna burger was incredible - highly recommend). After reading other reviews mentioning similar interactions, I hope the owner reflects on how customers are treated. As a husband, father of three, and a nearby property owner, I expected far better professionalism. I have written over 100 Yelp reviews over the years, and the vast majority have been 5-star reviews because I enjoy recognizing businesses that provide excellent service. Unfortunately, this is one of the very few times I've felt compelled to leave a 1-star review. I do not like to leave poor reviews and I sincerely hope the owner reflects on how customers are treated and chooses to do better in the future.

I sat at the bar and was served by the owner of the Pub, who is from the UK. I loved chatting with him about the pub and all the fun things that go on there. I happened to come in on Trivia Night, which gets a decent crowd! For dinner, I ordered the Braised Beef Guinness pie and a Guinness to go with it. The pie comes out steaming hot with a nice layer of browned mashed potatoes on top. There is real crust to this kind of pie. Underneath the mashed potatoes is more like beef stew. Large chunks of tender beef and vegetables are sitting in a delicious Guinness stew. On the side, a fresh salad to go with it. For $24 the portion you get is perfect and along with a good pint of beer this is the way to go. I will definitely be back to try some of their other food!

The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

She refused to compare our IDs to prove the validity, and refused to budge. It was a valid ID, and the bartender was just being stubborn and didn't want to admit her mistake.
