What's not to love about this historic dive bar? I stumbled upon this classic back in 2017 at the first annual California Swan Festival. Back this past weekend to attend the same festival, we were happy to enjoy a great breakfast on Sunday morning. Many other places were closed. Surprisingly, we had the whole place to ourselves. Many of the locals probably still recovering from a late Saturday night and likely would be in later. We happily hopped onto a couple of bar stools and the bartender/waitress, Sami, quickly brought water, coffee, and my glass of pineapple juice. Breakfast is one of my/our favorite meals and Stassi's willn not disappoint. I had the Stassi's Breakfast - basic eggs, bacon, home fried potatoes, and toast. I couldn't finish all that was put in front of me, which is unusual. Mike had the 4th Ward Breakfast Sammish two eggs, two bacon, cheddar cheese on sourdough toast. He managed to choke it down. The prices are insanely reasonable. AND pay with cash gets you a 5% discount. Definitely the best breakfast deal. If we hadn't been working at the festival, we likely would have enjoyed a breakfast Bloody Mary. Thank you chef Jonathan for being there to get the grub in front of us. Will always be a Stassi's fan! On Wednesday, it's good that pints are half price, but 10/8 there was no one in here and the bartender was hardly present to associate with. When people walked in, she continued to ignore me. Came here for their breakfast which is only served on the weekends and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Everything was sooo delicious and hot. They use real eggs which I loveee, I hate those liquid ones. Chicken thigh was crispy and juicy and that sausage gravy was so good. I've also tried their naked dry rub wings which are always hot and crispy. I've also had their Mac and cheese bites, burgers, pizza, and quesadillas and you literally cannot go wrong with ordering anything in the menu! Beware of the spicy quesadilla though as they use ghost pepper cheese so it's very very very spicy, but still tasty. Love this place!! read more

(3.5 stars) Nothing like a dive bar by the tracks! Stassi's is low-key and out of the way. We walked here after the Bok Kai parade. It's an old building right near the train tracks with dogs out back and apartments over it. We were the youngest customers by about 20 years... and I'm fine with that! It's the sign of a true dive :D Most the surfaces are a bit sticky with the ghosts of a thousand spilled beers, there's free popcorn (and wifi! Would've never guessed that in a dive of this magnitude!) and it was filled with old regulars who were watching Nascar. I love walking into an old place with local history on the wall. My first impression was one of feeling welcome. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. Fun games such as free beers when a train goes by for the one sitting in the lucky numbered stool. The back yard is very nice for whatever. I was there on a Wednesday night durring happy hour and discovered the best original recipe meatloaf fries and gravy for only $5. The best bar food ever! Since the new ownership this place has made a huge turn around. The nasty stitch that used to plague the joint has become a better smelling aroma that is inviting for a nice cold one on a hot summer afternoon or a night of a few beers after a nice stake dinner with your spouse. Sometimes they have free food out for the customers. Every time a train goes by they draw a number and if you are sitting in the seat with that number you get a free drink! It's old, historic, has been there for years, has a crowd of regulars...very interesting place to just sit and talk. They have a back room where you can smoke, watch TV, play pool, etc. It's a very homey and relaxed place with good service, and very few problems. However I have heard there is a troll there that used to live above the Field and Stream Bar just a block or two away. Despite having a lot of the old perks, Stassi's is just a shell of what it once was. My first summer in Marysville, we played horseshoes in the backyard, which was romantically lit with white Christmas lights all year. You can still smoke inside, and when the train rumbles by on tracks just yards away, rushing to a numbered stool for the beer lottery can still win you a free drink. All the bizarre knick-nacks in the back room make for great creativity and playfulness when you're drunk, and the beer prices haven't gone astronomical. Stassi's is deep in a dark corner of Marysville, which gives it a cozy feeling but must ultimately cost it patrons. The place is never as packed as it used to be, and most of the joy that made it shine has long dimmed. read more

Found this place because of Yelp. Was starving and in need of a beer. I walked in with no expectations, and was greeted kindly by the smiley bartender Djana, aka Dana with a J. She was friendly and accommodating. I was being indecisive and she helped me explore the beer menu and also pick food. Both were amazing. I had the Stassi's Chips and they were fresh and delicious. When I first moved to Marysville, Stassis was the first place I ever visited. It quickly became a place I went to multiple times a week. Not only is it located in a very walkable downtown Marysville but as some other reviews have implied, the new owner has made this place better in every way. They have a pool table, great out door patio and have recently added food. Lots of locals and regulars. Fantastic place to make friends and the owner will even stop and speak with you. They knew me by name and made me feel at home on a town I wasn't always happy with. A nice touch was always putting on my football tea :) Can't say enough nice things. read more
