It needed a creamy sauce or even replace the shredded cabbage with a slaw. The Spanish rice was simple but still had good flavor. The refried beans were creamy, smooth, and topped with shredded white cheese. One helpful tip for anyone with dietary restrictions: the menu does NOT specify ingredients for some of the sides. We noticed the vegetarian plate came with whole beans instead of the refried beans served with the non-vegetarian dishes. Based on what was served, we deduced that the refried beans likely contain lard, even though it's not listed on the menu. That could be confusing for pescatarians or anyone ordering seafood who assumes the sides are meat-free.
