Dr. Kupferman put me on three different types of hormonal birth control, all of which made me vomit profusely. I took it upon myself to conduct a quick google search and found that all of the contraceptives she had prescribed contained both estrogen and progestin. Estrogen is not necessary for birth control to be effective and is known for causing nausea in women. As soon as I switched to a progestin-only pill, my side effects were gone. Apparently her medical degree did not prepare her to come to that conclusion on her own. read more

She is clearly checked out - told me she "doesn't do thyroids", so "only does vaginas" (whole person approach? not so much). She dismissed all my menopause symptoms. Any 5 star ratings are either from long ago or established patients from back when she was engaged. I would not trust her with anything that needs attentive care. read more

DO NOT RECOMMMEND. Someone close to me has dementia and was experiencing some female issues. I saw a brochure for Dr. Kupferman (and it said she dealt with that specific issue) at the Center for Women's Health (where I am a very happy patient) so had a false sense of security and didn't do my proper due diligence (I now know she is not affiliated with the Center for Women's Health so must just rent office space). Had I read reviews, I never would have made an appt and feel horrible for putting my loved one through the humiliating experience of seeing Dr. Kupferman. When making the appt, I let them know that the patient has dementia so I or someone else would be accompanying her to help answer questions and make sure there would be no issue with that. As the appt approached, I learned I would be out of town so called again to confirm there would be no issue having my daughter attend the appt instead of myself. To capture any follow ups from the appt, my daughter had her phone out to take notes. Dr. Kupferman entered the exam room and the first thing she says to my daughter is "are you videotaping me without my consent?" Such a lovely way to start a visit. My daughter explained (which we try to avoid saying in front of the patient) that she is attending the appt because the patient has dementia and her phone was out to take notes so she could share with me afterwards. Dr. Kupferman had a horrible and dismissive bedside manner. Zero kindness or compassion. Commented that because the patient's stomach was so large (and it's not that large), she would need to order an ultrasound...again, so many nicer ways that could be communicated. The best comment from the visit though (and there were many) was while doing a vaginal exam of the patient. Dr. Kupferman told my daughter that she could make the patient look like her (down there) with the Mona Lisa vaginal rejuvination treatment. Exactly the procedure a 77 year old woman with dementia needs. I'm sure it was said in jest but so incredibly distasteful to say that while the vulnerable patient is on the table being examined. My daughter was appalled and called me as soon as she dropped the patient back at home saying we should never go back. I was curious if this was a one off and perhaps the doctor was having a bad day but in reading reviews, there is a re-occurring theme of being dismissive and gaslighting. If you're looking for vaginal rejuvination, perhaps Dr. Kupferman is for you but if you are looking for compassion and kindness, do not waste your time. This appt took place in March. A month or so afterwards, someone from Dr. Kupferman's office called to see if we had scheduled the ultrasound. I shared the same information as above (and said we would not be coming back) and the person was shocked and very apologetic. I said that I would be writing a review to warn others and half expected to get a call from Dr. Kupferman to do damage control but that never happened. I've put off writing this because of the sensitive nature and it brings me no pleasure bashing someone (have never written a negative review before) but if I can save one person from experiencing what my loved one did, it will be worth it. read more

I did not have a good experience with this doctor and I wouldn't return, ever. She was extremely rough "down there" and since going to a different doctor I cant believe how rude she was to me. She basically told me that because I get headaches on my current birth control she can't help me and I need to go to a neurologist, when I explained that it's clearly my birth control because it happens on the same pill each month she did listen but was the most rough pap smear I've ever had. This doctor has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. I went to her for the first time a month or so ago and I made sure to mention that I am a former drug user who has been in recovery for 5 years now. When I told her this she began getting pushy about me having a blood test, which I understand, but then also was incredibly condescending and rude about the "lifestyle I lead" despite me explaining that I was not an intravenous drug user and that I had been tested before. I agreed to take the test because what's the harm. They called me back with the results telling me I was positive for herpes but they didn't know which kind and that they would test me again in 6 weeks with no explanation and to call back. I called back twice with no answer, which was especially frustrating because I have called them 3 times previously, leaving a voicemail each time, before getting a response because of the results of my pap and questions I had surrounding that. I ended up getting a hold of my primary care doctor instead to ask her about the results of my blood test and to ask if I could get tested earlier than 6 weeks from now. She explained VERY differently what kind of test results would require an additional test in that amount of time, that a result like that is not positive but indeterminate and the 6 week waiting period would be a retest which could result in a negative or would specify which type I have. The nurse for Dr. Kupferman called back later today and again said I was positive but did not know which one and I asked her if what she meant was actually that my results were indeterminate because they did not know which kind I had, she agreed. So they scared the absolute shit out of me for no reason with little to no explanation of what was going on or gave me inaccurate information after having already been very rude to me and been terrible at returning my voicemails. I have honestly never had an experience this bad with a doctor and I would think that when dealing with such a vulnerable situation they would try harder to be kind and helpful with their patients. I absolutely do not recommend anyone go to this doctor or this office (Medpark Obgyn) for anything at all. read more

Dr Kupferman defended menopause to me like I was being rude assuming my symptoms were menopause related. She ordered an ultrasound and blood work. Both needed to be done at two different locations. Today I had a horrible experience with Susie Kupferman's Office, so bad I will not be returning. I called 4 or 5 weeks back to schedule an appointment that would be convenient for me, a morning where I didn't have classes. I drove home from school an hour away the night before. The morning of I walked in to check in, and the nurse and receptionist said, "oh" when I give my name. I thought that was a bit odd, but was told to sit down until they called me back. Pretty quickly the nurse called me back to go over my paperwork and take my vitals. It was at this point she told me," I'm not sure whether the doctor can see you. She has surgery at 9:45." This was in 15 minutes. The nurse then also proceeded to tell me that they had tried to call me "many times" to give me this information, but I didn't answer. I had one missed call from them from two days previous. Since I had come all the way there and missed school for my appointment, I asked if anyone else was available to see me, since I know there are other gynecologists in the practice. I was told no, and quite patronizingly. Why then was I even taken back if they knew all along no one could see me? Luckily, my mom was there to call them out on their blatant lying about trying to reach me many times and to express our frustration about the inconvenience. Do your research about gynecologists in the area. I am sure there are some through Overlake or Swedish that would be more respectful of your time. I was told I could call them again to schedule another appointment, but instead I will be calling to ask them to shred my documents and finding another doctor.
