I've been Dr. Cook's patient for five years and I couldn't imagine a better OBGYN for my care. After moving to the Eastside from the East Coast, I was looking for a provider that was not only very knowledgeable in women's health and pregnancy, I needed someone who was direct yet treated their patients as a human being, not just another chart. Dr. Cook is very intelligent and up to date on the latest studies and information regarding women's health and will take his time in answering all of my questions/concerns regarding my overall health and of course my two pregnancies under his care. When I developed gestational diabetes, he reassured me that it's completely manageable and we came up with a plan together on how to manage the diabetes and what my birth would look like. When my baby was measuring very large at 38 Weeks, he gave me all the options and I never felt pressured into a c section. After carefully considering all of the facts with my specific situation, we did opt for a c section to ensure my baby and me would both be safe. I've had two amazing family based c sections with Dr. Cook and he made sure all of my requests were met. I was able to have skin to skin immediately and I chose to have sutures in lieu of staples. His post-op care is outstanding as well. He stayed with me to my room and made sure my questions/concerns were answered before leaving. He is great at making you feel comfortable with his humor as well. I'm very glad I found Dr. Cook and I have recommended him as a OBGYN to several of my friends. My labor was long and my delivery was challenging; Dr. Cook's support and guidance was incredibly reassuring to me and gave me the confidence needed for a healthy delivery. I'm a first time mom, super panicked about the whole process of giving birth. This review is over 2 years late, and sadly he is no longer at Evergreen hospital in Kirkland, WA, but I feel I should do it anyway since I told him I would but life happens with a young child and now I have the time (and energy to write this review!). Anyway, I consider myself very blessed to have had the opportunity to have Dr. Cook as my OB/Gyn for my first pregnancy and delivery. He is so chill and one of the first things he told me during the first appointment meeting with him was that I could eat sushi! (Without me even mentioning I love sushi and before I had questions about eating it during pregnancy haha). He was awesome! He does talk fast and sometimes I had to have him repeat what he said because he has this habit of mumbling or saying things under his breath. My son was born 2 weeks earlier than the expected due date (actually right on my birthday so we share our birthday!). Well when I was in triage during early labor, I was told Dr. Cook was not on call and would not be delivering my baby. I was bummed but I was in too much pain from labor to really care that much (I was thinking 'whatever, just someone get this baby out of me!! LOL). Well, to my surprise, he walks in to the room I was admitted in and visits me during labor! I told him what they had told me and he said 'no, I'm delivering you baby...')--I was instantly RELIEVED! He checked up on me periodically during labor and by the time delivery time came that evening, it went so fast that it felt like a blur!! All of a sudden my baby was out! He again checked up on me the morning after delivery, which was nice of him and he even did my son's circumcision (albeit almost forgot to insert the anesthesia due to being distracted by a conversation he was having with my husband haha! Good thing his assistant nurse nudged him! That would NOT have been fun for my son!). Anyway, he became my Gyne postpartum, until I got the sad notice in the mail a couple months ago that he is relocating to Oregon somewhere :( so if anyone is moving from WA to OR and need an awesome OB/Gyn, I'm sure you can find him with a bit of research! I was hoping he'd be the same provider for a possible future second child, but oh well! I'm beyond grateful anyway that I had an excellent first-time pregnancy/delivery experience. In my opinion, Dr. Cook is as good as it gets. I first saw him when I became pregnant in 2013. I had moved recently to the Eastside and needed an OB/GYN close by. I had a very difficult pregnancy requiring at some point round the clock monitoring and bed rest. He, his staff and Evergreen Maternal Fetal Clinic took care of me every step of the way including when I delivered in an emergency c-section 9 weeks early, making a pretty scary experience a lot less scary. He is knowledgeable and up to date on the latest technologies; simply put, he's on top of his game. My 2nd pregnancy of course entailed lots of extra visits and like the first, he was there making sure we had the best possible outcome which we did. I continue to see Dr. Cook as I couldn't imagine trusting anyone else with my GYN needs. And of course I really appreciate his honesty and humor...oh man, his humor! Dr. Cook and his staff are awesome! They were 100% on the target with everything they did. Every single step of our pregnancy was perfect. The scheduling is easy and Dr. Cook didn't miss an appointment. At every appointment, the nurse would answer everything she could and then Dr. Cook would come in and go through every question we had. My wife and I are very hard to please and we are difficult people to deal with, but Dr. Cook is always more than happy to explain everything. He is very knowledgeable and his communication skills are on point. He has a great sense of humor and he is very professional when need be. He made us feel very comfortable and we never had an awkward moment. I'm so glad that we had our son with Dr. Cook. He walked us through everything during our pregnancy, he delivered our baby, and now we are creating a plan to have more kids. This was such an easy process because we had the best doc. I had so much anxiety when my wife wanted to start having kids but since we started coming to Dr. Cook's office, my anxiety has been alleviated because we were in such good hands! I don't recommend this Ob-gyn and am having a hard time understanding the rave reviews. I don't feel that he is emotionally attuned and he doesn't share information about physical changes during pregnancy and labor that would best help a woman prepare. In summary, he seems to know little about women's bodies and how to optimize women's physical health during and after pregnancy--one of those typical OBs that dismisses things as "a side effect of pregnancy that happens to everyone". I'm happy to provide more information via individual message about my experience, but I really am shocked at all of the positive reviews. I selected him for my first baby because of his great reviews. At first he seemed nice and easygoing, which I appreciated, but as the pregnancy progressed I didn't feel cared for well. He seemed to be hurried on the later stages and didn't feel the need to fully talk through concerns I had. For example, I said my blood pressure is naturally low and I am worried how my body will do with the epidural, and he said don't worry about it we have meds to raise your bp. Well lo and behold after I got the epidural my BP was like 80/40 and the meds barely helped raise it, leading to a few stalled hours of labor trying to get it figured out (it never really got figured out, I just felt awful). Maybe if he had trusted my concern we could have figured out a backup plan together. I felt neglected and dismissed after a traumatic delivery that left me with severe tearing and incontinence. I was also extremely disappointed by the lack of information communicated to me about the changes that would happen to my body in pregnancy and labor- and if I had had that information, perhaps I would have sought more preventative treatment and/or selected an alternate form of delivery. For example, I learned after the birth that I had a mild to moderate type of prolapse before I gave birth, which he never noticed or commented on--and as a result, my difficult labor severely exacerbated this. I believe it is negligent of OB-GYNs to not at least be able to identify prolapse, which would give expecting moms vital information. He never mentioned pelvic floor therapy to me to prepare for birth, and he never referred me to PT after my birth--I had to ask for it! He seemed confused that I was experiencing incontinence after birth and had no explanation for it, despite the fact that many women I know with severe tearing had some type of fecal incontinence for some time post birth. And I was "cleared" for all activity at 6 weeks post birth becusse "my stitches were fully healed", but when I tried finger penetration at 8 weeks, I had some bleeding and a lot of pain. After reaching out to some friends with severe tearing, their doctors recommended waiting till at least 12 weeks before attempting anything because deep tears take much longer than 6 weeks to heal, even if the stitches "look" healed on the outside. Very frustrating. I could give more examples than this. *update- apparently I have a sore on my vaginal wall that hasn't fully healed, which he totally missed! Unbelievable. So now I'm a 27 year old first time mom trying to take care of a baby while leaking poop and dealing with moderate prolapse--and Although a lot of labor is out of everyone's control, I believe some of the issues I'm struggling with could have really been prevented with better care from him. All in all, I definitely wouldn't recommend him for a first time mom, and certainly not for a mom who wants to optimize her body for a vaginal birth. Seek out another doctor who knows more about how your body will change and can give you tips on how to prepare, and will really listen to your concerns when you bring them up instead of minimize. read more

Ladies - hear me out. You may be thinking, "There's NO WAY I can see a male doctor." I've heard it from any number of women, but let me tell you, Dr. Cook is a phenomenal physician. Not only is he skilled, but he's warm, funny, intelligent, and genuinely cares about women's health. He's the doctor we've spent years waiting for. All those years of physicians - both male and female - who made us feel like we don't know what we're talking about or are somehow "less than a real patient" simply because we're women? And yes, female providers can make you feel subhuman. I simply can't imagine seeing any other provider for women's health or childbirth if I were going to have another child. If you're like me and your primary concern is connecting with a provider who cares, who will always put you and your baby first, and who's one of the best in the Seattle area, see Dr. Cook. Honestly, he's THAT great and I'm not one who's easily impressed - particularly as it relates to doctors. My last pregnancy required a c-section and we were fortunate enough to get on his schedule. Between all of the non-stress tests and extra appointments with a high-risk pregnancy, I asked every single nurse I saw what their opinion was of him. I even asked the L&D nurses what they thought when I checked in for my surgery. Every single one of them raved about how brilliant and wonderful he is, and how fortunate I was to have him as my doctor. I am very fortunate that I had Dr. Cooks guidance and expertise throughout this pregnancy. Without him, my very scarred incision from a previous surgery and an almost 9 pound baby may have ended in a uterine rupture. I saw Dr. Cook for prenatal care until I was 35 weeks. He did a great job with my prenatal care, answering my questions with a great mix of knowledge and humor. Ultimately I wished to give birth at a birth center for longer visits and home-like atmosphere so I switched at 35 weeks. I highly recommend his care though! read more

He takes his time and answers all questions and reassures me if I'm worried about something. I had pretty severe endometriosis and bounced around from dr to dr with no luck of anyone being able to help me, all while battling extreme pain. Someone referred me to Dr. Cook and he knew exactly what was needed. He listened and was compassionate and came up with a game plan that was successful. Dr. Cook delivered my child about two months ago. I was seeing him throughout the pregnancy. He has been calmly dealing with my anxiety and craziness. He made sure that all my concerns/questions are answered and paid attention to details to ensure that everyone survives. Even though he is always busy, I have been able to make appointments on the same day. It was fortunate that he was there on the day that my child was born. My labor and delivery did not go downhill because of him. He checked on me several times when I was in the hospital. His team members, Carmen and Alma, are very friendly and helpful. Like Dr. Cook, they made my visits pleasant. They always called me back in a timely manner especially when the test results are less than perfect. Ginger, the NST specialist, also is very knowledgeable and made me as comfortable as possible. Actually I started seeing Dr. Cook for other issues (in recent years) before this pregnancy. Dr. Cook is great! I had twins in August and this was my first pregnancy. He delivered via c section and my recovery seemed extremely easy and zero complications with the birth. Dr. Cook encouraged an active and healthy lifestyle and diet that was aided towards a long, healthy twin pregnancy that allowed me to go full term. He's very medical, but has great knowledge from many, many studies, and can answer just about everything! He came off acting as if this was my 10th pregnancy, but was very easy to approach to answer my many questions. He never seemed to want to rush through any appointment, but had the way about him that I could be in and out and got done what was needed. Nurses are also very great!! Dr. Cook is an amazing OB and surgeon who recently delivered my second child safely and comfortably via c-section. I loved my first OB as well, but she moved to the East coast and the search for a new provider began. Dr. Cook came highly recommended by a friend who works as an anesthesiologist at Evergreen as the most skilled surgeon for c-section, and he definitely lived up to the hype. The surgery was so efficient, and my recovery was a breeze compared to my first "emergency" c-section- minimal post-op pain, great incision healing, and I was out and about enjoying time with my family in no time. Throughout my pregnancy and into post-partum, Dr. Cook has been kind, funny, knowledgeable, and reassuring. However, he does talk a million words per minute, so listen closely to keep up! Amidst TTC for over a year and an insurance/job change/move to new area, I was in search of a new OB/GYN and Dr. Cook came highly recommended by a friend of mine who struggled through TTC a couple years earlier (and ended up successful thanks to Dr. Cook and his team). Not only is he thorough and thoughtful but he is straight to the point and very knowledgeable. He and his team have always been so kind, reassuring and as such we have been blessed to have a healthy and happy baby girl thanks to them. I had Dr. Cook for both of my pregnancies. He is wonderful! It is hard to find a doctor who is this calm and warm-hearted. I had some health troubles with my first yet during the whole time he was always supportive. He was not on call when I delivered my first (Dr Hyde did, who is also a great doctor) but helped deliver my second. The process took less than 20min. I saw Dr Cook my entire pregnancy; unfortunately he wasn't the one who delivered my baby. He was very patient at every appointment I had during the pregnancy, answering all sort of questions (maybe some stupid ones) first time parents may have and got a great sense of humor. Both hubby and I like him a lot. An on call doctor delivered my baby who didn't do a good job stitching me since I had tear during birth (it was on Sunday). The nurses at Evergreen were so good, caring and responsible. She called the on call doc to look at me again and on call doc didn't do anything. When Monday Dr Cook came in, he came and look at me and my baby, and the nurse explained to him my situation, and Dr Cook re-stitched me; he was fast and skillful. I felt way better after Dr Cook was done. I only wish that he was one who delivered my baby and stitched me at the first place! Still going to see him for second pregnancy and recommend him to all my friends and family members. read more
