Coogee has such an array of food options now. You can walk down Coogee Bay rd and take your pick from fine Italian, cheap Italian, Brazilian, Thai, Mexican and now Japanese. There are hundreds of these japanese kaiten (conveyer belt) restaurants all over Sydney. They are such a convenient way to eat whether you are by yourself on a lunch break, or with friends for a relaxed dinner.
I love the way the morsels are exhibited in all their finery. To me sushi is art. It is thrilling to see the craftsmanship of the Sushi chefs prepare and cook food directly in front of you and Sushigoi is one of the best I have been to. It is fairly new and the interior design has similarities to Toko in Surry Hills. It is modern with its clean lines and funky design. The loveliest place to sit is in the front when the weather is nice and the bay windows are opened up. This slightly stylish establishment has an up vibe whilst remaining casual enough.
Their fish is always fresh and plump and they create special dishes I have not seen elsewhere. My favourite is a seared salmon nigirizushi with a touch of sweetness in the sauce that makes it just luscious. They have some extravagant concoctions that entice you and they offer basic wines, Japanese beers and sake, of course. Last time I was there I received a card to Sushi club which gives you 10% off. Lucky, as I frequent this place at least once a week. read more
