This place deserves the five stars others have given it, for the food…read more The service however made me lose 10 IQ points just being in the vicinity of the waitress who served us. If you want to use the toilet, you'll need a key ( if you can get the waitress to remember to get it for you) but then she will have to show you where it is, down a side alley at the bottom of a gimp dungeon style lock up garage. Shut the Front door! That was kinda freaky. We had a great selection of food and we had come here for the Sashimi after a friend from the Blue Mountains had bemoaned that you can't get good "raw fish" up there where he lives. Karage chicken was an absolute stand out. The Deep fried morsels on skewers were also delicious, although they had run out of Mushroom. which we wanted.. oh and they had run out of Pork Spring rolls. I guess it was a Sunday night. Edamame hit the salt spot and the Terriyaki Wagyu beef was quite delicious. This place is good for a Japanese fix if you cant be bothered to go into the city to Japan town. Good for smallish groups, I'd say no more than 4 or 5.

I am not sure why this place is not on everyone's radar! It is quite special indeed. Ask for the Seared Atlantic Salmon Nigiri style its delicious (not on the menu) and don't pass over the Tataki Beef! Shhh keep it quiet because its a small restaurant but a MUST try.

My new found favourite japanese restaurant in Surry Hills!…read more We came here around 6.15pm on a Saturday, they were going to turn us down as they were fully booked but agreed to give us a table if we leave by 8pm. I tried the dinner set menu $33. Every item I had was really good, especially the sushi roll, it was bigger than expected. The tonkatsu was not oily and i love how it came with rice (unlike sushi suma). Though i was extremely full when i was done, they brought dessert! A small panna cotta but really good as well. I really like how the table was spaced out more than Sushi Suma, so it's not like you are invading other people privacy. Will definitely be back :) *Note: Always make a reservation to avoid disappointment!*

Hard to fault my new fav.Japanese restaurant. Great meal here last Saturday night with the birthday…read moregirl. Perhaps a little too intimate with other diners but that possibly added to the Japanese vibe. Clean and well presented fare and very generous servings all keenly priced. Sashimi plate was a wonderful starter as was the salmon carpaccio. Tofu and eggplant - must-haves and the teriyaki chicken was spot on and very generous in size. Alas we over ordered and added tempura vegetables which were stella but we had little room left. Wine list was extensive enough and draught beer was available. Attentive staff and full awareness of a radical (crustacea) allergy I had. Want to go back and explore more of the menu. I thought everything we had was really well executed.

There must almost be more sushi restaurants than coffee shops in Sydney, which is saying something…read more I was recommended to try this one in Bondi Junction, and when I turned up, I could see that I hadn't been the only one. There was a substantial queue forming outside the shop, as people longingly gazed in to see the delicious fishy morsels circulate on the conveyor belt. I was relieved, however, that the queue was only to eat-in, and if I wanted to take-away, I could take my pick of sushi now. So that is what I chose to do. Being a bit of a sushi novice, I didn't really know what to do or what to choose, as all these little dishes whizzed past. Luckily, a charming waitress was there to help me - she told me what each of the delicate parcels contained, and which her favourites were. OK, I thought, flexing my fingers, what shall I grab?? I had a budget of $11 (all that was in my pocket), but I was amazed that I could afford a bundle of edamame beans, six mini tempura chicken rolls and six mini salmon and avocado rolls. A feast for lunch. The sushi was delicious - I particularly enjoyed the salmon and avocado. I think next time, I would be tempted to join the queue and sit down in the restaurant. They had some delicious-looking tempura asparagus and some tuna rolls that I would love to try. Visiting this restaurant is therefore a matter of timing - make sure you join the queue before you get too ravenous.
