Sushi Wara has Excellent sushi, nigiri, miso, sake and green tea! The service was very attentive, authentic Japanese waiters, and it's a very clean restaurant. We went there at the end of the evening but they were very accommodating and graciously served us some pretty amazing food! The ambiance was nice, low lighting which was nice for evening dining. It had a true Japanese feeling. We'll make this place a regular stop! read more

I really love the sushi, although the sunomono salad has lately been very old. Like mushy lemon wedge old. And the cucumber you can tell had been in the salad for more than 1 day. The gyoza was really good until they switched to something that looks like from frozen. I still go back because the rest is really good though. read more

Only a 5 minute walk and consistent great service and food! Open a few days a week due to staffing issues I think, but staff was fast, friendly, and attentive. Large selection and fresh. I can't wait to come back and try something new. read more

*5 STARTS FOR THE FOOD* Shout out to the chefs. BUT... We had service, minus the service. I was ignored not once but six times. I have no idea who was my server, they were unorganized and just all over place. No water and unwanted bits (content unknown) in our jasmine tea. In the rare occasion when a server would walk by we had to holler to get their attention. Funny enough, our server would look around the restaurant as if he was trying to if see if everyone needed help. We made direct eye contact and he still avoided our table. After asking him to pack our food up he gave us containers and we asked him for our bill. He quickly tossed it on our table and walked away... not asking if we needed it split or if we needed a machine. Eventually we had to get up and pay at the front of the restaurant because he was nowhere to be seen. Keep in mind that there was 4 tables (including us) and 2 servers... this was not rush hour! Thanks sushi wara, but please work on customer service, being a server myself I understand rush hour but this was unacceptable. read more

This is my FAVOURITE sushi place on Vancouver island !! Wow, I don't know where to start ... the presentation is impressive your taste buds dance with every bite ! Appy, try the seared tuna .... melt in your mouth... I love the sea food salad .. it comes fully loaded with different fresh fish, calm, smoked lox salmon, crab, prawn, octopus, lettuce and vermeil noodles and a nice light dressing ! I live in Vancouver and wasn't sure what to expect. I was so impressed. We had California roll (my friends son wanted it)quite a small size and average tasting. The Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese roll- Amazing! Prawn Tempura- Some of the best I've ever had. Not greasy, nice light and crisp batter, huge prawns:) Tuna tataki- mediocre and it didn't come with any little dish of sauce for marinating it. Most disappointing dish of the evening and also most expensive! Gyoza- Standard gyoza Tatoyaki- Deliscious! Dynamite Roll- very good just really small rolls sizes at this place All in all a great sushi experience and I even got my friend who was a Sushi newbie to like and even crave more. Went last night with the inlaws. Had yam tempura and chicken teriyaki with miso soup. The food was average and the service was a little slow considering the restaurant was nearly empty, the wait staff was friendly so I believe a 3 star is a fair shake. Will try the sushi next visit. read more

Definitely the best sushi in the valley, in my opinion. The fish is SO fresh and just melts in your mouth. I highly recommend the spicy agedashi and the takoyaki as well. Well, the primarily Japanese restaurant is decent, with the tempura quite flavourful but a tad too battered. A couple people at other tables ordered wonton soup, not that I am judging, while one rude woman continously sucked her teeth throughout her dinner (now I am judging). The sushi looked decent and the menu is extensive. Worth a try. read more

Nice and friendly people. Pretty average sushi. Everything has imitation crab in it and when you order real crab for 2$ extra, sometimes they forget. They can't compete with Kobo's but they are open 7 days a week. read more
