it was very affordable and handcrafted. The restaurant is well priced and has traditional Japanese inside with traditional fabric over shelving and lots of paintings and prepared green tea offered. They have beautiful and simple small store, with two outer wall lamps outside and hand painted sign Main Street in Comox town center and is very nice and appreciated for their work shows and they are particularly genuine owners. They have Japanese drinks that she had as child, they are easy to drink if you take top part and pop the center of lid and use to move the glass ball that seals the top. this is where takeout is great quality and made fast, well and is good price and better on the stomach than McDonald! Good fresh rice, and good seafood Good ginger, do order soy sauce and ask for no wasabi or extra, although I'll say they give a lot of wasabi in the take out containers, they are very precise with the rolls and the cucumber rolls well priced and well rolled. The menu is one I'd never tire of and is good to pick up some for an anniversary or for outside in the park, And for sitting in then the other ones in valley are suited for sit-down they do have a small wooden ledge at window with few seats, very small store and recommend getting at non-rush hours and picking up on time and knowing your order ahead of time. read more

A small little restaurant with a BIG heart. A family run business with a husband and wife team with some great long time friends/staff. They are always friendly and aere really beautiful people. Many of there patrons become friends and are on a first name basis with them. They are from Japan and he is a rigorously trained Japanese sushi chef. It would rank it in the top 2 or 3 Sushi restaurants in Vancouver but on the Island it is number 1 by a long shot. The raw fish is always just perfect and if he didn't prepare enoiugh he will just say sorry no more tuna :-( that only happened once but other restaurants will microwave thaw more which degrades the taste and serve day old fish. This would never happen here. This place is more of a lunch spot or for dinner take out because of its size. All the real fussy sushi afficianados love this place. Very good sushi with limited seating (11 inside, 8 outside) so mostly take away. Very reasonable prices. Very busy so expect a wait. But when, after finishing our initial order, I asked for awabi nigiri (abalone), Sam, the ebullient sushi master, presented me with not only the awabi but with a pair of wonderful sake nigiri (salmon). Like the other reviewer said, this place is very, very small, with very, very slow service. Why the four stars then? Because if you're looking for takeout sushi in Comox, this is a great choice... Having lived in Vancouver for 8 years prior to moving to Comox, some of the island sushi joints are a bit wanting. But Kobo delivers the goods... this is pretty high-grade sushi, prepared with care and precision, with reasonable prices, considering. Just be aware it closes very early in the winter, and you likely have a 45 minute to hour wait for most orders. read more

Sadly disappointing... The crab in the spider crab roll was virtually non-existent except for the mound of deep-fried crab at the end. It was mostly lettuce & rice otherwise. The tempura prawn roll would have been ok if the mayo had been left out. Sorry folks, Nori in Nanaimo or Alberni Sushi in Port Alberni are still the best in central/north Van Isle. read more

Solid Take-out service and wonderfully nice workers to talk to when ordering your food! Always on time with pickup orders and the food is consistently great. I make it a point to stop into Kobo every time I am in town for work. I love my sushi so I had to try out as many sushi restaurants as I possibly can while I was here (had sushi for lunch and dinner 5 days straight). Out of all the places I've been to, Kobo was easily the best! All the fish and shell fish were so fresh that it just melts in your mouth. read more

Best sushi I've found in the Comox Valley. Owner's a great guy. Quite busy which seems to keep it super fresh. Tip - get it to go, along with a couple of Japanese beers from the beer store across the street. Not sure why this is rated so high. Came here because of the good reviews but unfortunately it was slow (expected from reviews) not cheap, and not fresh... Oh and also the portions were relatively small. I would have preferred grocery store sushi and we went from wanting a nice sushi night to not at all. The one upside was we did not get sick... But by the taste and freshness we thought it a bit risky but were too hungry to explore other options. Still... Threw away sushi, a rare phenomenon. read more

The is like a little gem hidden in comox. The sushi are creative and are price at the right price. We love the takoyaki there. (squid in a batter drizzled in mayonaise and takoyaki sauce). As a self proclaim sushi connosieur, I would say the sushi is not as good as the ones in Vancouver, but i would say is the best I have ever had on the Island. The place was crazy busy when we were there and the sushi chef (i believe he is the owner) was super nice. It was busy but he still help us set up table and chairs inside the restrurant. I had to give him bonus points for going above and beyond to serve his customers! Because good services are really rare these days. A tip is to order take out. This place is small, but just because of that shouldn't stop you from trying take out from this place. Will definitely go back many more times! read more

Sam makes the best sushi on the whole island, and i like how he has chosen a civilized option for his family, but there Are too many people who crave this goodness.
