    Review Highlights - Sushi Train

The frittata was a bit greasy, yet this treat filled the spot without needing anything from the conveyor belt on this occasion.

Was the first one to come in and was given seat as soon as I entered. The sushi rolls on the menu looked appetizing so decided to go for Spicy Waka Roll (assorted sashimi, shallots, spicy sesame sauce). Food was prepared pretty quickly. More people started coming in as soon as my dish arrived. The combination of salad (mix of green and red leaves) and sashimi are amazing. The sashimi were fresh and the portion was pretty good even though it might seemed small when it is rolled over and cut into 8 pieces. The greens were crunchy and fresh making the whole dish chewy. Besides that the spicy sesame sauce, mayonnaise on the side and sprinkles of red peppers were a good combination. It has tangy aftertaste and I skipped the wasabi to have a better taste of the sauces. Price wise it was on the moderate level. At least the 8 pieces of sushi were pretty filling as the sushi master included quite a bit of rice. From the waiters conversation, it was pretty clear that they are Japanese and I did confirm with them. This place might be small but it definitely provided some authentic sushis.

The salmon was expertly presented, melt-in-your-mouth delicious, bathed in its citrus marinade and topped with generous portions of crunchy green onions and greens. The beef carpaccio looked amazing, too, although we did not get a chance to try it. We also had the decent scallops and the mediocre Waka roll, neither of which I particularly recommend, but the salmon carpaccio... You must make the trek to this restaurant if you're in Manly -- it may be the best dish I had during my 8-day trip to Sydney.

They use a touch screen pad for the inside tables and a normal menu for the outdoor tables. Staff are friendly and efficient and happy to help you choose items off the menu if you are stuck. To start we got a few specials including the pork belly bao and the deep fried sole fish, then onto some grilled salmon and by this stage our bellies were getting full! So we opted to get 2 small desserts which was the banana split and the green tea cake roll. Overall, good food with lots of flavour. If you visit do try and get a seat inside because its pretty fun to order off the menu.

I tell Melle that the last time I came here that the sushi and sashimi were so tasty and fresh. She nods but it's not until she starts eating the salmon nigiri and sashimi that her eyes light up and says ohhh wow this is really fresh and tasty. Yuri then explains which tuna is which. There are three grades of tuna available on the menu tonight. Melle prefers the medium grade and we all enjoy the usual tuna grade sashimi and nigiri which is typically served in restaurants. The usual tuna grade is a deep purple. Yuri explains that the lighter the tuna, the higher the grade. The highest grade is fatty and delicate. I love it!

Whilst it isn't the cheapest place to eat, the food quality is quite good. THINGS I LIKE: *Beef Tataki - I'm not usually a big 'raw beef' kinda person, but I could eat two servings of this dish easily. *Soft Shelled Crab - it comes with some semi-spicy mayo that is awesome. *Sashimi - it's good, it's fresh. *Tempura Dumplings *Udon - very tasty, I like the Chicken Teriyaki. THINGS I DISLIKE: *SLOW/INATTENTIVE SERVICE* - I've been here twice (Sunday night, Wednesday night), and both times I've noticed that they don't have enough waitstaff, and those they have are so busy you are often left sitting there waiting to wave them over. I'm still happy with the food, but I'm not thrilled with waiting 5-10 minutes to order because their staff aren't watching the tables just running food out.

I definitely will be returning to try some of their dinner specials, in particular the Share Plate for 2.

I note they have $4 plates on Monday and Friday nights for the regular Sushi options, like prawn nigiri, chicken katsu etc. However with some other interesting options like prosciutto and fig. They have other interesting menu options from the kitchen which I was very keen to try. I ordered the "Katafi prawn", a large prawn freshly fried with stringy crispy coating and salt and herbs atop. This was delicious. There were two in the serving. I then got the prawns and honey chips which was lightly fried prawns with a slightly spicy sauce and vegetable chips with a touch of honey. Again, delicious. I also ordered then salmon jalepeno which was thinly sliced pieces of sashimi on top of cucumber with a jalepeno sauce and jalepenos. Not spicy, but tasted very good. I also got an amazing "harmony tartare" (salmon belly, scallop, avocado and wasabi citrus dressing) YUM !! I got a dessert to take home for when I wasn't full anymore and OMG amazing, a coco pop/mars bar style Slice with a caramel log, white chocolate and popcorn. phenomenal. The theming was like a normal sushi train, with some really cool "sushi fish" lights. They also offer take away and delivery. The man Serving was lovely and the other employees busily working at the back. I loved everything I tried and would be keen to go back and try more!! What a find.

I will likely go back again and hope they work out the kinks by then.
