So we opted to get 2 small desserts which was the banana split and the green tea cake roll. Overall, good food with lots of flavour. There are three grades of tuna available on the menu tonight. Melle prefers the medium grade and we all enjoy the usual tuna grade sashimi and nigiri which is typically served in restaurants. The usual tuna grade is a deep purple. Yuri explains that the lighter the tuna, the higher the grade. The highest grade is fatty and delicate. I love it!

Always busy - although convivial is a better word because rather than feel squashed in you feel a part of something friendly and delicious - the mainstays I can direct you in the direction of are the pork-wrapped shallots, which will change your life - I know I say that in pretty much every review but this time they really will - and the Deluxe Sashimi Selection which comes served in an ice-filled bowl big enough to train dolphins in. I know because I tried, although better not to ask where I got the dolphins. (HINT: it was Seaworld. Crap security. Probably pretty good now though. It is a double serve, so be prepared to either die from over eating or make sure your partner is willing to split the dish with you. One issue I have is how busy it is. I cannot figure out why this place draws such crowds, as there are so many good Japanese places out here. But if I want some hot pot, then I will show up and hope there is a few spots free (either a table or the sushi bar).

We ordered the agedashi tofu, the Jugemu okonomiyaki and chicken curry hot soba (the other house speciality is fresh made soba) to share between two. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen, a friend ordered the cha-shu ramen, and another ordered the miso tonkotsu ramen. Word of note, each bowl comes with two egg halves, so don't be a fatty and order an extra egg like I did...but you will probably want to order extra cha-shu, unless you only like 1 or 2 pieces of cha-shu. I ordered extra cha-shu ($2) and only had 3 pieces...I think they're skimping a little here. We also ordered a salmon roll and skinny avocado roll, and these were really good, especially the cut of salmon. Sushi is definitely good and reasonable here. Taking the first bite, the ramen was really good...but after a few bites it seemed to be missing something. I'm not sure what it was, but the flavour started to get bland, on top of not having many pieces of cha-shu to add more flavour to the ramen. Still better than Ryo's Noodle, but I don't think I'd venture out of the city to come here for ramen.

I was so disgusted and wanted to send it back but my boyfriend insisted I not make a fuss. So I sat there and ate the sashimi instead. When I thought I might try a piece of sushi from the non hair found roll, guess what, I found a hair just sitting on top of the rice( see posted pictures if you don't believe me) that was really all I could handle. 1 hair, ok I don't think its acceptable, but 2 hairs in 1 plate?! That's just asking for a health inspector. I had to say something at this point to our server who said he would talk to the chef. He ended up comping the sushi rolls which was nice but really I want the restaurant to take a little more care in the kitchen and pride in their food. When it arrived, it looked perfect. Small side salad, a little sukemono (Japanese pickles) and even a couple of oranges to cleanse my palate after I finished. Awesome. The tempura was fresh and really crisp. Nothing soggy about this dish, just yum. The zarusoba was also awesome. Tasted like the dipping sauce was a little watery, but on the whole it was great experience. Really enjoyed the service and food here. Worth checking out. P.S. The one draw back was that lunch was not cheap. That said, you get a discount if you pay cash.

We were hungry, and we were wanting Toro (tuna belly, aka the prime cut of the tuna/sushi world). We ordered: - Agedashi Tofu = 5/5 on my official Agedashi Tofu rating scale. More please! - Kingfish & Jalapeno Carpaccio (yuzu soy sauce). = Delicious, the definition of the dish, and with just the right amount of kick. - Assorted Sushi (small) = great, very fresh. - Toro sushi ($12 per piece). = The star, what people would consider "the Wagyu of the sushi world". We HAD to order it and then refrain from ordering more. It was so amazing; it basically dissolves in you mouth into complete bliss. If you haven't had Toro... and see it on the menu and love sushi/sashimi... do yourself a favour and treat yo' self! - Tempura Udon = very tasty, I loved the udon noodles. - Nabeyaki Hot Pot Udon = exceptional. I walked out still tasting the sweet/salty goodness. If I had to say anything negative about my experience is that we couldn't keep ordering more food. We could have ordered another round of Toro easily (but that would have been $24). In the end, what we ordered came to $111 - which is pricey, but you also don't need to order the amount of food we did.
